I was cautiously optimistic that Sage getting another DoT meant they were finally realizing just how much they have screwed up healers. It wasn't much. But it appeared to be a teeny tiny step in the right direction. It was a step, alright. The problem with this is that there is nothing to heal. There is so little damage in raids that you can just pop one of your dozen off-GCD heals in response to any one event and you will never run out. So guess what happens for the other 90% of the time when there is nothing to heal? Damage!

Compare this to other MMOs such as our good friend WoW where healers have to actually make proper use of their healing buttons in order to keep the group alive without running out of mana. There is thought required and you have to combo together particular actions for the best results. None of this "Oh a raidwide happened, just use one afflatus rapture charge and go back to doing damage since the next hit doesn't come for another 30 seconds."

Do you even play FF XIV? First of all, there's content in the game that's borderline unclearable without that "gravy on top" (go and tell me how your 0 dps healer TOP clear goes). Let's not act like healer dps is an afterthought- this line of thought has been crushed since Gordias and Midas, which was 8 years ago. How are we still discussing this point is beyond me. Unless you mean dungeons... in which case, you talk about "relying on the party", which is the damn whole point that people are discussing, isn't it? That, right now, in the other content that's not high-end of the difficulty scale, people don't need healers for a damn thing.

And the rest of your rant is just asinine nonsense sorry- first of all, it's not my damn job to find a solution for any problem in FF XIV. I'm not paid to be SE's game designer. I pay a damn sub and I'm voicing my discontentment with part of the experience offered to me.
But lucky for mr SE, people actually have put forward a lot of good ideas of how to address the issue, some being very low hanging fruit like tossing healers a few dots or a dot proc system or simply freaking restoring one of the 10 healer actions they deleted like Miasma II and were fine for literally 6 years.
I don't know why I gave you the benefit of the doubt. I mean, you started with "I didn't read the 500 pages of discussion" and then segue into "maybe you guys should discuss this".

So then, we should have Tanks be stripped of all their DPS abilities except for one single target and one AoE, and all their other buttons should be Mitigations and Provokes that don't deal any damage.

Again, the worst part is this in the job guide explanation: “SGE: To increase attack variation during periods when healing isn't required, new actions such as Eukrasian Dyskrasia and Psyche have been added.“

E.Dyskrasia doesn’t change where we used E.Dosis in W2W pulls. And Psyche is a 1 min ogcd. It doesn’t add any actual variation. You’re either doing E.Dyskrasia -> Dyskrasia spam or E.Dosis -> Dosis spam.

They say they get it, but their actions literally show they don’t.

You know, I was talking about the healer "changes" in Dawntrail with a friend, and he was like "Man. ARR Conjurer had more of a DPS rotation at 30 than your White Mage has now." And while I can't pull that up in Google to prove it, I did find something that makes me giggle about how much people claim that current healers are good game design. So tell me, o defenders of the slop. Why is it, in 2013, a leveling Conjurer can point out how absolutely miserable it is to play like that, yet people will literally trip over themselves to claim that it's such an enjoyable experience to be doing the exact same thing at level 80, 90, 100.

That's certainly one way to interpret things. A completely batshite crazy way, but a way.

I don't really give a toss. All I'm saying is that if people are this butthurt (to use your terminology) about things, maybe they should find something else to do. Why pay just to be miserable? There's two basic reasons for it: The first is you're not actually upset, you're just looking for attention, and the second is that it hadn't (yet) occurred to you that you have a choice. The former are trolls, while the latter now have been put on notice that they do have a choice. They don't have to keep paying for the privilege to play a game they don't enjoy. No one should be doing that, period, regardless of what the game is. There are literally millions of other games out there to choose from, surely there's at least one that you will enjoy playing. This isn't the 80s and early 90s when you might get 1 new game every month so you had to play the crap out of each one. Just about everyone probably has a backlog of games that would take longer to complete than they will be alive. No point wasting any time on a game you don't derive enjoyment from. Find something else to play, or read a book, watch something on TV, go out and see a movie, go bowling, whatever makes you happy. If you don't enjoy hitting yourself in the head with a ball-peen hammer... STOP DOING IT. How difficult is that?

Care to elaborate? So far the best I've found is creating different hotbar sets for like 60 and under, and 60+ dungeons, which really only gives you a few minor variations because you still need a certain core set of functions.

Cus JP players think healers should only heal and CBU3 saw JP healers having low playerbase then decided to rework the entire role to appeal to JP players. Most Western MMO players for this genre find this really dumb, even holy priest in 2014 had more DPS spells (also spent more time healing lol) then current XIV healers. Its why JP healers got mad over double dot with Sage, their culture believes everyone should do their Job. Its even why im super curious if tank got the same treatment if they would feel the same way or be hypocrits. But yeah cultural issues tbh JP don't like western styled mmo healers and westerners who are scared of challenge also don't like healer with DPS balance.
I will say that healers do get harrassed more than other roles in all MMOs because they're an easy out but its not like current healers in XIV don't get shit for being bad at their role.

The point being, the traffic used here represents too miniscule a number to be a determining factor in how the gaming bloc feels. The 0.001% statement was to represent a closer correlation than page traffic but neither ratio is accurate in determining how the gaming bloc feels. Just like how it's not accurate to state your ratio was correct seeing as this thread would largely be viewed by those that contradict my opinion and support the Ops opinion.

Google reviews are a tiny portion of the people who actually eat at a restaurant. Doesnt mean they cant reflect a popular opinion or be useful to the business. Also go ahead to a 0.5 star restaurant. Sometimes the reviews can be unfair, you know. Elden ring dlc got review bombed but turned out 80% of negative reviews are in chinese complaining about easy anticheat.

We're not trying to declare how some majority feels and no one has ever said that but you. We are trying to get attention to *our* concerns with healer because we are passionate about the game and want to improve it and make it more fun.
