Sorry I am a new BLM what potion is everyone referring to?

I use the draconian potion of int (HQ) but others may exist, have not looked up potions last patch
Also, and this is end game only some food will be useful.
Difference among other stuff between food and potion being food last around 30 mins or more, potions are just to get a boost at certain points in your rotation.
X-potions of Intelligence at a bare minimum. Anything lower than that is too insignificant. I.E. Hi potions and Mega potions. After X-pots is Draconian. Max Potions are stronger than Drac pots, and finally Supramax potions of intelligence are the most powerful currently; although highly expensive and really only used if you're going for speed kills in raid.
So I got 1020 SpellSpeed with food, and I got 2 Materia slots open.
Question is, the optimal nearby spellspeed number is 1021; should I slot another SpellSpeed for that 0.01s with another Crit? Or 2 Crits?
(Also: found our FFXIV rounds down all decimals...BS)
There is no limit to spell speed, if you can add it do so otherwise slot in crit.
Some instances you may want to add crit, what gear do you have to slot?
1020 is not bad but i will say the higher the better
There's a google doc out there with all the tiers and numbers, I just don't have it with me at the moment. (1021 is a critical number...but I'm at 1020 with Alex Rod...so I have to stick with shire unless I can settle the decision)
Anyone got a BIS update list or lists that I can use to compare notes? Also if anyone got the tier list for Spell Speed like that fellow aboved me mention that will be cool too because the max SS I can get with food is like 1245 atm
On paper that is correct (or on a perfect dummy parse).
On practice (IE in a fight like A11S/A12S) it seems to be no difference, except it's much more difficult to adjust with lower spellspeed (you definitely feel it if you try to edgelord your enoch timers and have to skirt a mechanic).
But what you're saying is meld the 1 SS and 12 Crit for the 2 slots and keep the Alex Rod.
If the SS is really that much of a bother, consider crafted accessories rather than downgrading weapon. Though, relic upgrades will likely make that moot if it's like the zeta/dreadwyrm divide.
I would give up on even thinking about tiers, blm has way too many differing spell timers that even trying to map out all of them is a pain. There's an individual tier for every cast time, so for BLM we have Fire 1(2.5s), Fire 3(3.0s) and Fire 4 (3.5s). To add on there's a different tier when under ley lines. While I'm barely knowlegeable about BLM, just these 3 skills + ley lines creates 6 individual tiers. If one have the interest it's possible to map out all of them (Under ley lines can not be calculated with a formula, why? Ask SE).
What's the most optimal opener currently? I've been using the ones on the front page but apparently they're outdated. I'm a Dunesfolk so I have enough PIE for most rotations probably
I already posted the cut-off points some pages back
I've since updated the sheet to include ley lines.
Between ss of 850 and 1398 (absolute max ss available with 270 gear and 275 weapon if there existed a max ss version of each slot) the most valuable ss points occur at 889,1021,1153 and 1285.
"Under ley lines can not be calculated with a formula, why? Ask SE". You can't use the formula for anything other than regular 2.5 and less. Ley lines has its own tiers which does not match the regular tiers, if you take a look at Dervy's and my research back when the tiering was worked on there is not a linear increase for cast speed that is 3 and higher. And if ley lines acts like huton/gl does you have tiers that are irregular and can't be in any way predicted without in game testing.
Can you give specific examples of where errors occur in my numbers? I'm using a formula derived from dervy's blog, not the exact formula. I haven't come across any inconsistencies except for empyreal arrow at very low ss values (<357). Also, I believe the previous errors were due to the fact that when under haste, the cast time is rounded twice, once for the haste buff, once for the ss.
If you look at this: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...it?usp=sharing
This was what Dervy tested in game. If you look at the 3 second cast time, you have the first 4 break points at 361, 381, 401, 427. In your spreadsheet these are 361, 383, 405 and 427. While the large tiers are correct, every 132 points or every 2% decrease, a lot of the in between tiers are off.
EDIT: Looking at ley lines for 2.5, the points you have where it drops is for the first 4, 361, 387, 414, 467. When I tested huton in game (same attack speed increase) these points were, 374, 401, 434, 467.
The following page holds the link as well as a discussion about it: http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodest.../blog/3165231/
I also use this tool to gage how valuable crit is: https://josephwebber.ca/samples/FFXIV_Crit_Calculator/ . I, of course, take credit for neither. They are simply tools I have come across. Hope that helps.
Whoops. First link is for spell speed
Hey fellow BLMs, this is probably the last post I'll make saying I've updated the guide on page 1. I seriously can't believe this thread is still going and on page 216. It's probably redundant since some people like Alayna Lazriel of Hyperion made a pretty big Google Doc BLM guide (I wouldn't have been the guy that would have made that :P) but I felt I would have left an unfinished work.
I think many confused and new BLM players will appreciate the flow chart I made when it comes to a basic rotation. I've updated the openers although this subject is highly arguable I've decided to name 2 openers that I've compared. The Sharpcast F1 and a Blizzard 3 Opener. I think overall people prefer Sharpcast F1 and it is more stable imho. It requires no setup and it's pretty fast to deploy compared to Blizzard 3 that has a slow setup but provides a smarter use of Raging Strikes (which we'll lose in 4.0 btw since we're be in the caster sharing CDs group)
BLM is fun, will always be fun. I will level it up in 4.0 After Red Mage :P Red Mage is all I always wanted. It looks like a mobile Caster and mobility is kinda what drove me away from BLM. I don't have issues to dodge and avoid mechanics but I feel BLM is pretty dull.
I also think Omega will provide a fresh and superior raiding experience as Omega is actually part of the story and not a stupid filler like Alexander with a dull storyline. I'm sorry, I really didn't like Alexander. It might as well have never existed and clearly SE didn't put much effort in Heavensward than A Realm Reborn. Maybe I'm being too severe, I know there's a lot of players who enjoyed Heavensward but I think it's fair to assume those players were new people who didn't get a chance to compare both eras.
Anyways... I've been having a blast as a Derpgoon. Will have more fun as a Red Mage, I won't be making any thread for 4.0 Somebody else will have to do it. I will work around Red Mage. This is definitely the first job I'm hitting 70 with. Probably gonna get shafted with the whole jobs being unbalanced on release but as far as I noticed. Square Enix does a decent job to put a good balance in their jobs (except Astrologian. They went from useless to God-tier :< )
I also haven't decide if I'll work myself to raid seriously again. I have no group and I can really only raid from 6PM to 9PM EST from Monday to Friday. Faerie isn't exactly what you can call a good place to find a good raid group also so I'll have to think if I want to transfer.
If you have questions or you actually know a group that needs a DPS and raids from 6PM to 9PM, you can PM me on reddit: PM Aikaal
Forgive me if I'm wrong but that "BiS" is ~3 points lower than this one. If you feel the SS is a bit low, you can use pentamelded Teak Choker (Det Vs) and still be higher than assumed BiS. http://ffxiv.ariyala.com/WVNL
What's the lowest amount of spell speed you can get away with as a blm and still be okay? Sitting around 900 but I have to play smn for my raid group and so I'm getting a lot of Alex gear which has no spell speed. I plan to meld it with G5 SS materia but I'm sure I'll be taking a drop in ss.
You can definitely do it without Firestarter at lower spell speeds than that. I had around 1000 for a while and it was fine. You need to make sure there's as little downtime as possible between casts and queue actions during your casts by spamming the buttons so they start casting as soon as they are able. You may also need to meld some PIE to ensure that Blizzard 3 will still go off at the normal MP cost if AF3 happens to wear off during the cast.
I'm not sure what else it could be because you should be able to cast 4 F4 in a row with ley lines and convert, and not even using swiftcast, but as mentioned you can just do 3 F4, F1, 3 F4 and it's not too big of a difference.
I just tested something and it turns out that with high enough spell speed you can naturally cast 5 fire 4 in a row under ley lines and still have enough time to switch to umbral ice. Not sure if this was common knowledge or has been posted here before but I thought i would throw this out there.
hi, can someone help me with the stats of my i240 relic? spell speed and then crit, or piety? since i just readed that piety is good but i dont know about it, help please D:
Sorry was typing this at 4am and was not thinking straight, currently sitting at approx. 1180 SS
284 piety with party buffs is a nice amount to have. At that amount you can cast your rotation without having to wait for mana, even if you had a bad mana tick i.e. mana tick after finishing B4.
I would not put piety on the relic since the stats on it grow with each upgrade, meaning you would have too much piety at some point.
I did read about it on reddit https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comme..._relevance_of/
how many piety ill put on relic? it grows on i270?
are these openers still useful? :)
I just read the guide and looks updated but I have a little bit of difficulties in grasping the whole of the openers
I found this opener too :) is it the old one?
