Who me ? :S

For me personally I didn't even try to run to the sides I ran right towards tidus :p. seemed to work for me ha.
Move out of the way. I haven't had any problem since P4 started. At all. I haven't checked my latency lately, (last I checked, I had 700ms) however my internet is probably just above the legal limit to sell. Me and my brother both play on this horrendous .8 download and .15 upload. Neither of us have any issues with AoE circles, cones or strips. Just move faster is all you need to do.
/thread
In regards to the video, I would love to know what YOUR internet speeds/latency are. They are probably even worse than mine.
700ms + 333ms is over a 1 second latency. With a 1.5 second cast time that gives you .5 seconds to move out of the way. You cant even get out of some boss AoE circles in .5 seconds. Before level 50 it is easy to get out of the retard red circles. You will never be able to do any end game other than the Story mode stuff with a 1 second latency. Lol at trying to move out of the way of Ifrits charge with a 1+ second latency. By the time you see where the 3 of them are you will have already been hit.
I rarley have a problem with the latency, the problem is that sometimes I do. With <50 second latency I should never have a problem getting out of a red circle and then having it hit me like 1 second later. I also see this as a healer much worse. When I cast a heal it can take as long as .5+ seconds before I see the person I healed health go up. This is something that should happen instantly. You can work around it and get used to it sure, but you should not have to.
fyi just dug it out: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...ects-everybody)
I'm a Tank and thus I have evaded L O T S of AoEs up until now. I never had an issue like in that video, in fact I'm surprised about it. Is this some latency-problem? I don't think tanking would be possible with something like that, but thanks god it really hasn't happened to me until today.
This is unfortunately one of the reasons I won't be subscribing, it's not just the AOE recognition being off, it has an impact on so many frustrating things
- I interrupt myself constantly when interacting with objects because as I right click it, the server thinks I'm still moving and interrupts me
- I can't ever cancel my spells when I wish to, a pretty common healing method is to preheal and cancel the cast if the target doesn't receive damage, once again half my casts finish when I cancel it a good half second before the end
- Players rubber-band everywhere, I can't imagine what PvP is going to be like with this delay and it was one of my main pulls towards the game
- Instant casts don't feel instant at all, the knock back on CNJ feels so sloppy and unresponsive for example
I'm sorry SE but if you want 9 pounds a month from me, then you've gotta match the competition, and sorry but you're currently lightyears behind WoW in this department, I realise I'll get hate for comparing FFXIV to WoW, but I honestly don't feel anyone who is honest can state that this game matches the fluidity of WoWs combat.
The sad thing is all I need is a little reassurance from SE that they recognise this an issue, instead Mods just seem to post on petty subjects that are nowhere near as gamebreaking as this one.
If I move at the moment such a thing appears and the area isn't excessively large (since if the are is large enough i may get out of it in a nick of time but still get hit... false feedback is FALSE, feels horrible), I never get hit. But from the OP movie it's deadly clear she moved instantly and still got hit, that is not her fault.
There is an insane delay/server lag and they should really improve this client-server communication code, also they should install European servers, move the currently "European" ones to a European data center.
Overall this makes the mechanics and overall response of the game feel sluggish and unpleasant, which doesn't happen to me in any other mmo from the past 4-5 years. And I've raided quite a bit, I've encountered no awkward sluggish server response/reaction client-server horrible interaction outside of some remote temporary problems with the servers which don't count.
-I was exactly like the video posted on the first post!
-I am in the US and have comcast.
-I never had this issue in any other game.
I was getting EXTREMELY frustrated being yelled to MOVE OUT of the AOE when on my screen I very far out of it. I stopped doing Titan and started googling. Long story short someone somewhere (I totally forget where I read it) said "The servers registers your location when you activate another ability." While it only checks every .3 seconds if you hit an action which causes you to face the target then it will re-register where you are that instant.
I normally have the tank targetted.
I created a macro.
/facetarget <tt>
I put this macro on my 1 button.
I haven't been hit by Titan's AOE since. :)
Instructions for use.
Notice AOE, Run out, Hit 1, Heal
This has worked for me. I don't know if it will work for anyone else, but I hope it does help some of you.
that's the thing that bothers me, you don't know if you dodged AOE till 2 seconds later.
I'm clearly out of the RED before the RED disappear, but yet, 2 seconds later, I see I died to AOE.
Is my processor too slow or something??? Latency??
I have a 30ms ping, rocking a Radeon HD 7970... we carry people through Titan.... often 7 manning it to get that person the win. I've even got a little Allagan gear (one of the best geared Dragoons game wide)
I don't get hit. period.
However....
Just because I know to move before the ability happens doesn't make it right.
If it's a 2 second cast time yet I really only have 1 second to move, then that is INACCURATE and BROKEN.
And frankly, your blind acceptance is PATHETIC. You pretend it separates the men from the boys but in reality, it's just another major developer getting away with lazy ass programming, and you're an enabler.
What if Street Lights did that? Amidst all the accidents would you tell people
"Hey, you guys just have to learn to stop while it's still green!"
Because that is exactly what is happening.
Learning to adapt to broken mechanics doesn't negate the existence of broken mechanics.
And it doesn't make you 1337. It makes you look foolish to imply that it does.
So congratulations.. you're one of the many people that learned to ignore the on-screen indicators, since they are not helpful.
Even more congratulations are in order for being one of the gullible players who thinks that is ok.
Agreed with this one, but they aren't going to fix it.
At best they nerf the hell out of content.
If this was considered unacceptable by them they would have fixed it in the alpha/beta.
If they considered this important they would not have put the EU and the US in the same data centre in freaking Canada.
They didn't even bother with having the animation in sync with the cast.
Yes you,me and others might think the delays are horrible, but an equal amount of people think it's 'skill' to battle the lag.
Each their own fun I guess.
I don't think most people want to give this game a shot if they see this type of delay issues, it is also bad reputation.
But I doubt SE cares much about that anyway.
@Sneakaboo
I really hope that isn't the case. I want this game to be the MMO I play for years.
Either way, keep spreading the word. Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, Gamespot, various forums, etc. It may push SE to act on this ridiculous delay lag attached to everything.
Don't worry - I feel the same way. But, I believe that it is in SE's interest to fix this huge flaw. We just have to find constructive ways to let them know that it is becoming an very large impediment to enjoying such a wonderful game.
You'd be surprised how many resources a development team that boasts a healthy income and a positive but critical player base has. Something as large as fixing the net coding can be done.
This is a very popular issue with online games. If you look at the evolution of netcoding in fighting games over the last generation of consoles you will see a HUGE improvement (designers just have to learn from their mistakes.) Usually it takes a new instalment of the game for the issue to be fixed, but that is the beauty of MMOs. They can patch a significant change in if they have the resources to.
I don\\'t see how you have hope.
Someone said earlier that SE only comments on petty topics and they are right. SE\\'s one English speaking forum representative. Only posts that he let the designer know that people want a mount tune for magitek. Oh and a Lala\\'s hairstyle was fixed for wearing a hat.
No post however on this or the people who got hacked. Don\\'t worry though. They fixed AK
Customer service at its finest.
I might come back in a year if there is a larger player base than 1.0 but I\\'m doubtful with all the issues the gameplay has.
Sorry. Just upset
Please read this post from early last year.

Lag fixed, please look forward to it!
Keep the hope alive :)
Edit: To summarize, this bug was present in 1.0 and officially recognized in 2011. In the above post on these forums it was stated that it would be fixed in 2.0
SE says this in their forums and in interviews at that time.
I had this issue with Titan when it first came up in my story quest. Eventually the stars aligned, and I got through it on a fight where the attack never landed on me, or anyone else who was having this issue, to begin with. But I almost quit the game right then because of this fight, and I dread having to do it at end game, or even to help out some of my lower level friends when they get to it.
I don't know anything about end game at this point, but if its required for me to do this fight at end game, it will be the reason I quit playing.
If they hate on you for comparing to WoW then they will also need to hate on Yoshi, because he did it before you.
See this post on these forums.

Well fingers crossed that it does get fixed, it's a fantastic game but it's currently not quite worth my money

Bullcrap.
From what I can tell this has been around and they have not done or cannot or will not do anything to change this. I am hoping to be wrong because I do enjoy the game and the way it plays and I love a hard game, I have been raiding for longer than some people playing this game have been alive and when you feel a game being unresponsive it is no different than a car, it may look great and you love driving it but if you don't feel in control you are going to return the car.
Truth be told I hope I'm wrong and that they actually pull a fix for this so we can all laugh about this in a couple of months.
In fact I hope every white knight gets to chance to tell people like me 'told you so' and that the server checks won't exists any more in their current form.
How ever when you claimed to address the issue since 1.0 , state 2.0 will fix it.
State on the beta forums you fixed the issue while nothing changed at all.
Then continue to put it now under 'bug accepted' while not saying a word I kind of don't believe it.
This is how they coded their game, people that studied for this looked at it and after tests they said to each other ' this is acceptable'
The problem didn't fell out of the sky and it didn't sneak in.
The only way you can have this if you as dev think this isn't a problem.
I don't see why they would suddenly be motivated to fix it.
I have experienced something similar.
In my case it was Titan storymode. I saw the Thaumaturgist run outside the blue rectangle and further away (he continue running) and yet he was sliding down to the instant death. He then said "What! I was outside!". I could only confirm him.
But I can only see his position because the server tells me where he is (right?). So if the server tells me he is outside the area and he thinks he is outside, then why on earth is he still killed?
This has me puzzled.
this will never be fixed. i have warned of this since ffxiv 1:0. we komplained about server latensi in 1:0(no fix), 2:0 alfa/beta(no fix) and now at release(still no fix). whats evn mroe worrysome is the fakt this problem exists in final fantasy xi! ! ! ! and this has never been fixed. ffxi has been online for over 12 years. it would seem they implented ffxi problems into ffxiv engine.
it is over. this cannot be fixed, unless some blizzard network engineers and programmers are hired. otherwise this would hav been fixed in the early days of ffxi. i speak the truth.
