Get rid of it. It's just punishing the people who play this game.
Do not remove it. Raise the cap to keep in line with the new rate of SP gains.
The earlier you look back in XIV's history, the less people ever observed hitting it, due to the very low and slow rate of earning it. The problem arose when they raised SP rewards without also raising the "high bar", so you all just hit your head trying to duck under it.
Pages ago I said you could gain (arbitrary) 50k SP in maybe a week (prior to 1.15), now that's reasonable within a day. Multiply the threshold's limit by 3 to 5. That would keep the goal halfway there.
And again initial fatigue is 10%. Not gamebreaking.
Go team minority /
I'm confused now. Do you want more people to play or not?
Seriously WTH are some of these people smoking.
Oh noes people are at the cap after grinding for months! Game over man, game over.
People who play too much need to get off their butt. 4 hours a day is by far enough time before hitting SP.
Stop trolling i'm not going to keep feeding you.
I guarantee my life is way more fulfilling and successful than yours.
Show me someone who ONLY plays one class.
Casuals AREN'T affected by surplus.
Stop embarrassing yourself.
You don't play this game do you? It's showing. Fatigue affects players who play a lot. Players who play a lot ALWAYS rank other jobs.
People care that they are being slowed down and forced OFF their main job. The one they like to play the most.
Well obviously the people complaining are not casual but hardcore gamers so why can't they have what they want? I'm sure we can please both casual and hardcore players and not have a system that only benefits the casual players. What the game needs is balance and a way to please both sides.
I'm a casual player and have not yet felt the effects of the fatigue system but i can understand it is frustrating for someone who wants to play for longer periods of time.
I like playing all the jobs. :P You would know that from looking at my Lodestone Page. It's why I'm playing Final Fantasy XIV and not WoW or any other MMO. I hate being restricted to one class.
Sure, I hit Fatigue on THM sometimes but it's not game breaking enough to warrant epic whining.
Good for you; I and the vast majority of FFXIV players hate being penalized for playing.
If SE want that hardcore gamers play more classes with surplus SP they should fix some things first. I hate to change class and configure again all my skills and points status, fix this pls.
Please realize that people still play despite the fatigue system because they like the game and want to see it succeed. If everyone did as you suggested and quit JUST because they don't like the fatigue system, there would hardly be anyone playing. Be grateful that we still stick around despite these flaws in the game. The devs can't make a better game if we don't provide the proper constructive criticism they need to fix things.
Do you have a high rank class? You should know that tier II skills have the same stamina cost as Tier II, and in most cases are only marginally better.
Sticking with something just for the idea that it MAY be better down the line is foolish. Would stop from having a divorce just because you think your significant other may "Get Better" after beating you? There is a difference between optimism and blindness.
They may only be marginally better but it's better to get something more powerful for the same stamina. In grinding it's all about speed and efficency. :P
When I first heard of the system, I figured it was innovative and liked the idea of encouraging horizontal growth to allow others to catch up - but the fact is that, while in theory it was interesting, in practice it's terrible. I like having a goal and sticking to it. I don't like my goals being side-railed and my momentum deferred. The flow of the game is destroyed by it and my enjoyment is limited by a lot. I'd rather deal with grind-happy players flying by me than have my own efforts hindered.
Yes please!!! Remove Surplus and Fatigue!!!
lol, if you're all about "speed and efficiency", why are you in favor of the surplus system, which is totally not "speedy and efficient".
Anyway, so the desired behavior, as you put it, would be to "grind something else, like I am supposed to".
Now, don't you think, that from a gameplay design perspective, we should encourage that desired behavior through positive reinforcement and making the player WANT to grind something else, rather than FORCING him to grind something else all because he "hit the barrier" as you put it.
The problem with the fatigue system is that it negatively promotes the desired behavior and in the process pisses off a lot of the player base.
All we're saying is that SE should implement a system that both promotes the behavior that you think is so good, while not pissing off everyone else at the same time.
There is a solution that can please everyone, and promote the desired gameplay, and we should not cling on to the fatigue system which the majority of players loathe.
I sign this petition to get rid of surplus and fatigue. IT'S CRAP. (:
Only you think it's "trashing". To the rest of us, it is "constructive criticism" because we want to make this game successful, and we want more people to play it. It might be a little harsh, but that's only because the fatigue system is a horribly designed gameplay mechanic that promotes a certain behavior in all the wrong ways.
"It wasn't their cup of tea, so they quit. Big deal."
It's a big deal to the shareholders who want to see profit.
It's a big deal to the developers who want their creation to be popular.
It's a big deal to the players who want to play a fun game on a server with lots of people.
"No need to force change or completely scrap something just because it doesn't suit you."
If he was the only one complaining, you'd be right. There wouldn't be any need to change. However, he's not the only one complaining. A majority of people hate the fatigue system, countless people have quit already because of it (as apparently, you'd prefer them to do), and even more people won't even give this game a chance in the first place because of all the negative publicity the fatigue system has given this game, fairly or unfairly.
But in the end, as objectively as I can put it, the fatigue system as it is currently implemented is totally stupid. Just replacing it with a "rested bonus XP" system would solve everything.
