im also sure it is going to be explained in the main storyline
>.< Once you mentioned that I can't unsee it. But to mee it looks more like an old Japanese ogre, like the ones Momotaro fights

It did seem like the temply Thancred is in, is either abandoned or took some damage so not all of the cities may have gone unscathed. And the skyline of LL was different so some buildings may have been knocked down. And alot of rebuilding done. If alpha videos showed us anything, its that there has been alot of rebuilding going on
I really liked the video! Cant wait to play...the beta can't come fast enough :)
Most. Epic. Opening. Movie. Ever.
Can anyone tell me what the name of the Final battle was? I recall the battle 10 years ago against the Garleans and the Dragons was the Battle of Silvertear Lake, but what was that final battle called again?
After watching the first part again I am even more convinced that the glowing marks on Louisoix are similar to what the marks Legacy characters will get on their bodies. I hope we get to choose where they go if thats the case! Dibs on a sweet bicept legacy tat! Although the temptation to go all Mike Tyson with it is always there.
what i find weird is not the tattoos and such because those were there before- its that steampunk like device or object they all wear on some part of their body with a little clock or something on it.
Seriously dude? Seriously??
You're going to argue semantics when you know perfectly well what the point of this video was. GAH ><
Anyway, back to the regularly scheduled programming.
I found myself physically incapable of skipping past the part of the video we've all watched obsessively. I think SE just decimated my weeks of hard work to wean myself away from daily viewings. *sigh*
I was so excited to see all our old friends! And my husband thinks that their steampunk accessory is a pair of time binoculars.
I think the symbol on their clothes looks like the eye of Sauron. (not a good thing, or a bad thing, but just a thing)
And I too want to know exactly what I should be noticing about the Lala whm screenshot..... Please enlighten me, I am actually blonde irl. :D
It's going to be so hard to go back to ffxi after that video...
*DYING WHALE NOISE*
Judging by the Hyur Warrior's chocobo, I see that he took advantage of the legacy campaign.
Even fictional players knew better.. :o
WOW!!! This Opening movie pwns! SERIOUSLY!! brought tears to my eyes saying good bye to 1.0! ; ; im gonna miss it!!
anyways wow love this opening movie and LOL to all the comments in here u guys are so funny XD. And yes Thancred totally thinks Brunettes have more fun :P lulz! derplander is funny as usual xD LOL. This thread pwns lol! So does the movie! :3 TY SE~
Well, since we are arguing semantics. a) The original japanese says this is an "opening movie". Any good opening movie to a game should give you a taste, a "tease" if you will, of what you're going to be playing. b) What good is an opening movie to a game that shows you nothing? Conversely, what good is an opening movie that shows you the entire storyline of the game without having you play it? c) If you're looking for a trailer that shows more, it'll probably happen during E3 or something, when they are able to reveal stuff. d) There's no rule that says that an opening movie should give narrative. Think back to FF7 or 8. (or 5 or 6. I think the only ff "opening movie" that had a narrative were the NES ones that had white words on a blue screen.) How was that opening movie any more or less narrative than this one? An opener is an invitation to come in, not the intro to a book.
Also, in the entertainment industry, a teaser is a short clip of "See this shiny? Now look at that shiny! Isn't that awesome? But not as awesome this shiny! Want more? Nope, no more. Gotta wait. " The trailer is the one that goes <insert movie trailer voice> "In a world, where adventurer's are sent back in time... Where magic and courage are your only weapons... against a world of mystery... danger... and adventure. 5 brave souls, sent back in time, have the courage to face the new world and the beyond. See courage of the ages... bonds that last through time... and through it all, the beauty of a realm reborn. The <insert industry critic here> calls it <insert review blurb here> and 'breathtaking'. This summer, steel your swords, form friendships, and prepare for... Final Fantasy: A realm reborn."
So, again, no, a teaser just teases. An opener is usually closer to a teaser. A trailer explains what is coming up, and hence, needs a narrative.
See, this is a teaser:

See? No "this is loki, he's going to destroy the world. And Avengers are going to stop them." Just "look shiny! More shiny!"

Narrative, world in danger. Outline of a plot and the protagonist. Gives you an idea of what the entire thing is about.
Sorry for the long post. But if we're going to argue semantics, we might as well get the facts straight.
FF XII opening (before you choose "new game")

Already countered this. No way his hair can be a value that dark, even in poor lighting conditions. His shirt doesn't suffer such dramatic value changes, and there is enough light in that room for his hair to still cast shadows onto his forehead... so ya...its definitely brown now ~_~
