I think you're missing the point here.

It's not so much about making everything more difficult. That's just not how things work, this isn't Wildstar or FFXI, we will always see a focus on comfy accessible content. That's just a fact.

The core issue with healers is simple: Playing a healer in said comfyl content is mind numbing. What is there to aim for? What ceiling is there to aim for? What interesting gameplay loops and mechanics do we have to play with when there's no healing pressure?

I'll tell you. The ceiling boils down to how many Glares you can squeeze in at the expense of everything else. Fun included.

They're not dumb, they know how to corroborate information. They know which accounts play which role and if you keep buying expansions and paying subs, all they'll understand is that it isn't that big of an issue.

I'm all for this kind of thing. I'm not a healer, but I can respect how the better/stronger your team is, the more boring healing is. The fact that everything going wrong is really the only enjoyment some healers get out of the game is a bit backwards imo. I only played a bit of healer, and even then, I quickly realized that most of the time I was casting my single damage spell over and over again, which would get very old over hundreds/thousands of hours.

I do wonder if it would be a good idea to have a few suggestions to WHAT you want changed added to the main post. More raid/party wide damage that HAS to be healed? Nerfs to tanks? Healers with more than one damage regular damage spell? etc.

That said, just saying "SE, we're not happy with healing now" can be enough sometimes, especially if queue times for regular content become much higher.

Oh, really?

If they know which accounts main which role then that makes our strike even better. They'll see all the healer main accounts just completely drop healer. That's wonderful news.

Do you blame the Reddit for viewing this place like it is… it’s full of trolls and incessant moaning about every facet of the game. I get critique but it’s a laughing stock this place and no moderation at all. Not saying the positivity of everything on Reddit is any better but it’s dann more tolerable then this place is lol.

It's the XIV main subreddit, known for only two things, people spamming fanart and praising literally every decision the devs make.
That subreddit spawned the "New player here, I played XIV for 5 minutes and am already in love with it"-meme.
Of course there isn't gonna be a single worthwile discussion regarding job design in that clown fiesta.

I'm just waiting for the zealots to starting harassing and decrying other healers as scabs and traitors if they refuse to join the strike, thereby leading to a sort of self correcting ban-wave.

You don't get it. I have made it very clear that #FFXIVHEALERSTRIKE has a low chance of producing favorable results wherein the devs will change course. Of course, that is and always will be the end goal, but the smaller much more obtainable goal is to let players know that they DO have the power to not support the decisions of the development team. It's to give voice to the voiceless.

Every strike has always started with one person. This person is usually surrounded by defeatists who tell him/her that there is no point. That their cries will fall on deaf ears. But then one person joins them. Then another, and another. Each of them will still be told there is no point, and even be met with hostility and ridicule. Many of these people are confrontational because they feel like they are being pragmatic, when the truth is they have given up and/or no longer have the strength to fight. Very much like what has happened in this very thread.

The fact of the matter is that there is nowhere else for us to go. Even quitting the game isn't an option because the subscriber lost to subscriber ratio still favors the latter. I think it's like 1:3 or something like that. This will not hit the company where it hurts. Plus, most of us are emotionally invested into our characters. The longer we've been here, the stronger that attachment. We have attempted to provide the feedback. We have given the dev team two expansions of working with or around their course of direction. Some of us (like me) have even defended them and tried to harmonize the playerbase with those at SE and with each other. Yet, the dev team continues to hit the accelerator in the current direction.

A lot of us are just done. Not done with the game, but done healing under the current circumstances, and #FFXIVHEALERSTRIKE represents the collective voice that speaks it. I encourage anyone and everyone in support to copy/paste everywhere they can.

I was just in VC with a friendo and rambling about this earlier. We were (half) joking about wanting to create or join All Healer-PFs at least for MSQ dungeon/trial progression just because it'd be a nice gesture to refuse being a part of community service that is helping DF queue popping lmao.

This "strike" wouldn't be a thing (or, at least, would have been less likely to be a thing) if SE had both paid attention to the Healer Forums and made some effort to communicate back their sense of what players were trying to say.

Those questions have been answered, many, many times over. The details change from moment to moment, but the same broad sentiments keep coming up, over and over again.

I'd even switch to healer to join a healer-only PF and move healers out of the duty finder queues.
I'd try to do the same with tanks, but I'm under no illusion that too many people enjoy the gameplay equivalent of watching paint dry, that is current tank design, for it to have any effect.

It's the most common tactic here on the forums.

It has a pretty high success rate because a lot of people want to correct misinformation. Can't fault them for that, but it also gives trolls/pot stirrers a lot of power.

You shouldn't have any mits nor heals with that logic...if the healers only have one dps button. I am shocked you can't even see how much of hypocrite you're being. Plus, you can absolutely sustain the party if there is enough of you using the mitigations and heals bestowed...please get educated. Well moving on...

I genuinely never thought the biggest issue to any sort of public support for improving healer design would be trying to get the average person to figure out that “more DPS buttons” doesn’t necessarily mean “do more damage”

I thought it was obvious but I’ve been wrong on that front more times than I could possibly count
