I find it odd when I see folks talk about a dead overworld (you didnt say this). I seeing hunt trains going multiple times a day everyday. That indeed is overwolrd content.
Now if they has some sort of system akin to say...Phantasy Star Online 2 Emergency Quests that'd be interesting. But I feel they'd need to be tied to story like for example "Sin Easters are amassing and seemingly trying to attack the Crystarium" or Blasphemys are doing the same for areas on the Source. Regardless I like the idea
It is good. Forum paladin learn the guild point. Not need wait for reply from Jr ghost writer he only servant. He sit when guild say sit. Listen to guild leader Ayybeyond.
1 Silent majority hate the Scallion. It is prove in the tread of the Ayybeyond
2 The Garlemalding is plan to be expansion after Shadowbringing. Guild show the classify document of Yoshi delete the Garlemalding expansion. Same it happen for Matsuo Bosnia story. Good dark fantasy story is delete
3 Agree is good
4 In FF14 remake by guild all chara is Hotgar
5 Guild it is not fighting the delicious cheesie burger. But not be putting Valentine wood into the cheesie burger. Is fault of localiser team who try to be ghost writer and change story
I do genuinely think the reason Endwalker feels so mediocre is they really thought Island Sanctuary would be received better and take up more time.
But that system completely missed the massive, obvious, housing shaped bullseye it needed to hit to be a success, and as a result you have a Mammet Sweatshop that really only amounts to some glamours and mounts, and a source of free cordials.
Beyond that, Variant Dungeons completely miss the alure of something like Bozja, rather than being good casual content that you can play with anyone regardless of jobs, its something you run 12 times solo for a mount.
Criterion is okay, though I think the normal version is too hard, and the savage version is too similar to the normal version. The fact it doesn't keep up with the Variant Dungeon's attempt to be casual content where your job doesn't matter as much made it flop. IMO, Criterion is basically just bite sized Savages, some more engaging than the Abyssos tier, but its still pretty one and done.
Everything else has been the same standard content we always get, Beast Tribe Chores, Crafting Chores, questionably paced Extremes, and the savage tiers, the second one having a lot of fundamental issues, and the first being fine for those who aren't color blind.
Here's the issue with Graha Tia in Endwalker.
Do you think Haurchefant would be memorable as a character, if he had survived Heavensward, and was in all of Stormblood being the comic relief and your personal cheerleader with no will or ambitions of his own?
Of course he wouldn't, he'd be some annoying tag along meant to make the WoL look cooler.
Well thats Graha now. I'm not against the fact he's still around, but you can't deny that the only thing he did that was REALLY memorable of Endwalker was the fucking burger meme. If characters don't have interesting stories to tell, they probably shouldn't be brought around for the sole purpose of marketability.
If they really thought Island Sanctuary would take up more time I would question whether or not they're detached from reality. That content is essentially Farmville, or some other mobile game that consists of 90% waiting for timers to tick down, where you click through menus for 5 minutes and then ignore it for the next 24 hours.
They didn't think Island Sanctuary would take up more time. They were simply offering something different to do in between other things. Yoshi even commented that he was surprised how differently people approached the content, with some being so hardcore, while others were taking it at the slow pace that was intended.
To me it just feels woefully unfinished.
Why can others visit your island? This is such a useless feature I wonder why they bothered at all, it makes me think the customization options were meant to be more robust and numerous. That perhaps there were meant to be group activities on the island, nope, you can just go there and stare at the funny names your friend gave their animals I guess.
Why can you put minions on your island? Concept art made it seem like there was more to it than them just sorta existing. Feels like a bandaid trying to make the place seem more populated than it really is.
Nothing in 6.3 even really addressed this, the most notable thing they added to it was 2 more levels to grind out and more resources that don't change anything about it at all.
If their plans for Island Sanctuary are solely to add random items to it now and then like the Gold Saucer then I firmly believe this is the worst content FFXIV has ever gotten.
You make it sound like their thought process was "This Content is Garbage but we're releasing it anyway"
I don't care how slow you take Island Sanctuary, finish it in a day or a year, its not fun either way.
The only thing that was worth waiting for was new wards.
Any update on when 6.35 drops?
Next Tuesday marks week #6 since 6.3 initially released...shouldn't we have a date by now?
Should be about 8 weeks so not too far away. Going to get busy again.
as some one that loved all of it. good dungeon. good raid. good trial. good msq. i must say NO. non of it lasting. and its the problem. most of the people i know and see don't care to even play any of its weak or 2 later. this cut of the content in to 3 parts is failing time after time. problem is next patch be even less good as there be no new deep dungeon in it. all in all i think they need to do something more close to what Genshin Impact doing . invest more cash in to a bigger team that will create content faster. thing of the fact that Genshin Impact have a new region of the map each year. over the same year the new map get 2/3 expansions. but we have what we have and if any of the upcoming new mmo be good FF14 will sink hard.
Is true. What Grahad do in Endwalking. He eat the cheesie burger and skipping the leg day. If he train and eating the veggietable he would transform to the Hotgar and not get push off by God Meteo. We watch this in famous movie Rocky XIV. If story have good writer it making him do brave thing like rally Thavnair onions. But he not do this.
Comparing the Elibuss from Pandaman story. Is knight and day. He is good strong traditional masculine chara. Elibuss ayaya loving Alan-senpai a lot and wanting to confessing-kawaii-desu. He summon the ally. He make angry face at bad Lahee but respecting the good Lahee. Is good chara complete different design from Grahad. Elibuss have strong masculine personality like the water bottle. And then he forgetting personality because of the brain injure. But if he remembering he be good chara like water bottle.
I've seen ChatGPT posts that were a lot more coherrent than Graeham. Can anyone translate this?
As a console player, the new QoL add-ons were pretty sweet from this last patch. I'm hoping this becomes a trend.
It's an exposure thing. You just need to read more of his posts, and then they'll start making sense.
Granted, I get more nosebleeds nowadays, but I think it's a pretty good tradeoff.
No, because honestly, I dont think he was that memorable to begin with. I dont think he was a bad character at all, but
Im not a Haurchefant lover like most people, and I honestly dont consider Heavensward Peak FFXIV....but thats a different conversation.
I think this is bunk and a bad argument....because this isnt the type of character he was at all, we weren't his "Inspiration" Haurchfaunt isn't looking to go on some Grand Adventure, what your describing isn't his character, even IF he survived.
And before I get anything like "The Crystal Exarch" is different from G'raha...no, you and everyone was just fooled and distracted by his Cool outfit and calm demeanor. He was always a Big Goofball, he was Always your Hypeman. Difference is he's no longer on a Death Timer before he can save The World, now he can be himself and go on a big fun adventure.
He didnt nothing Memorable? So when he put his time as The Crystal Exarch to work to help Calm People down in Radz-at-Han, that was nothing to you?
Or in Ultima Thule when he talked down a Robot, that was nothing? Its weird that the only thing you can think of for this character is The Burger Scene, and you think his sole existence is Marketing, when he wasnt even used for that....
The Only Marketing I can see for him, is that Brief...what....10 second Scene in the Trailer/Opening Movie of Endwalker when he was reading a book? Wow, yeah no, thats great Marketing to make me play an Expansion! Thats....just silly....like the Idea that Haurchefant would be like G'raha.
There appear to be a group of players who dislike seeing G'raha portrayed in all manners on social media because "he doesn't deserve it".
Personally, I enjoy a character that can inspire so many stories and pieces of art and commentary.
Of course, this part of the thread is a digression from the original poster, so I'll again ask the OP to answer this question:
I truly dont understand complaints about content. I mean, Ive only been playing for a couple of years now but I still have SO SO much to do. I don't take breaks either, like its rare that I go a day without playing some. My job even allows me to play quite a bit while working. What are you doing that you don't have content?
I think the problem isn't a lack of content, its a lack of content that you want. That may be time to play other games like Yoshi P said? Or maybe this MMO just isn't for you? I played the wrong game for years. There is no shame in moving on to something more suited for you. I adore FFXIV but when I have friends or coworkers (lots of gamers) ask me about it, I usually dont reccomend it to them if they are hard core gamers at all. This game is ultra casual and social at its core, with a few savages and ultimates as a bone thrown to a minority.
Touch grass nerd
Well, I play 3 MMOs (XIV, ESO, GW2) and XIV gets the most (and best quality) content by far! I'm also the kind of weirdo who really likes casual repeatable daily/weekly chores (IS, leves, roulettes, ventures, hunts, hoarding gil/currencies, etc) so I never take a break from this game, lol. I do have my own complaints about XIV but content isn't among them. *shrugs*
Because they view a subscription fee as a donation, not something they pay in exchange for something else. In lieu of a good market value, people use guilt tripping and groupthink tactics to rope people in. Soon the same people will start asking to tip the developers.
Fully agreed. It excels at casual and non-challenging social events. FFXIV has been way too overhyped and needs to be brought down a notch. It’s a fun little side game to keep open while you talk to friends and do other things, but it’s definitely not a replacement for WoW, GW2, or other online games. Those saying we’re “the best” at everything need to face reality.
Man the Graha bs is off the charts here. I don't even think of burgers when his name comes up. Only remember that due to saltlords here. I think of him taking charge in Radz when the people began to turn there. I think of him being a badass in Garlemald and saving Ali. Where's the comic relief in any of that? Also how exactly can you claim Graha has no will or ambition of his own? Are you actually paying attention or just coming here for info on him? There's no way you played the up til now in EW, payed full attention and came to this conclusion...
Eh, I will say blizz dropped the ball on taking a long time for the expansion to drop a few times.
But the time between last patch and expansion for ff14 takes long as well.
However the biggest difference is, at least the raids are quite large to progress though that takes time to do instead of a few days.
The issue in ff14 is, the patch cycles is getting longer and with less content.
Rp and ERP schit isn't content
So you think of him reminding you of when he was a better character in the previous expansion? And he exists as a tool to call back to that rather than being engaging in the moment? I mean fair enough almost all the scions kinda fall into that trap even in the good expansions. But fact of the matter is, that scene exists solely to make you go "MEMBR THE EXARCH?" Nothing about the Final Days or the 2nd half of end walker even has an impact on Eorzea as a whole. hell even going through it the only place that even seems to have been remotely effective was Thavnair. If you removed this scene in question the plot literally would not change, at all. Hence why EW Graha is just baggage.
But no I don't view that as a real ambition, "I wanna hang out with the WOL!!" isn't an engaging story arc for a character. I guess I prefer characters with their own agency and personality, and less of a peanut gallery to try to make our character look cooler.
But then again a lot of the scions are falling under the "my character arc completed ages ago I'm just here to cheer u on" crowd, the writers just don't write off characters anymore because they're too marketable.
So, your complaint is "it should be brought down a notch" purely because you're not the target audience for it, and you're pathetically bitter that other people who are the target audience are having a lot of fun? That's sad. I can't think of anyone who says FFXIV is the best at "everything." As you mentioned, it's the current best Casual MMO. WoW? If you're into e-sports and enjoy a toxic cesspool - go for it. I'll say no thanks. FFXIV has in fact replaced every other MMO for me, except on rare occasion SWTOR. WoW I haven't played in over 2 years, GW2 even longer. (Oh, and FFXIV is much more than a "side game." I'll take an engaging story, fun gameplay, and amazing music any day.)
What are you talking about? All the things Ikara mentioned are from EW, where I find he's just as good a character...Quote:
So you think of him reminding you of when he was a better character in the previous expansion?
That scene solely exists just to say remember the exarch...
Nah it couldn't be a case of him being serious when the situation absolutely calls for it. Nah its just ShB nostalgia bait...You claim the plot won't change if you remove the scene I can factually say thats wrong. Or did you forget that Thavs leader changed due to those events. That was a turning point for the people now that Vrtra has now revealed himself to his people. That alone set up much when it comes to that area. Not to mention that scene showed us just how serious this thing can get and how easy it can spread. Come on now...
Again you don't pay attention. "I want to hang with WoL" is his character arc. Does he not have his own agency and personality? Who is he acting like if he doesn't have his own personality hm? Peanut Gallery is usually a term used for someone being stupid which I've yet to see from Graha. In fact I challenge you to count how many lines of dialongue is him just praising us and how many aren't. I'd be willing to bet my account that the later is what actually happens more.
Lastly, point to me a Scion who hasn't helped in the story and is still around. And then find out how much of their dialogue is just praise and and how much isn't. If you want to make these claims that they're just cheerleaders now I'd like to see some numbers backing these claims.
--Thats not even his Arc.... its I want to go on an Adventure. Because if you somehow forgot, he didnt have a Chance at one. He wasnt able to do anything Fun as the Exarch, he wasnt able to live his life. He was to busy Trying to save the world / The 1st. He wanted to do more. And with the WoL and the Scions, he finally can.
And once again, Personality and Agency...you mean like all of the game? Or are you to busy hating him to ever notice any time he did anything other then the Burger Scene?
--Please, instead of just saying it, provide Proof that he was Marketed. When was he "Marketable"?
This reads less like a factual rebuttal and more like someone's personality got attacked.
FFXIV is not a personality. It's a video game. It's good for some people and not for others. You want FFXIV to be the end-all, the final statement in video gaming, the last testament to mankind's creative impulse that everyone rallies around because you personally like it. It's not. It's a video game.
Instead, he had one of the most meaningless death in the game that serve no purpose whatsover than a cheap device to give some one time impact, not even to the story, but purely just onscreen. Hell, they didn't bother to create a valid scenario for him to die. It's the sort of death you see a dime in a dozen in Hollywood B-rated movies or generic RPG. Whatever little development these type of character may have, they always exist little beyond a cattle being fatten by the writer for the inevitable slaughter.
Look at some of the best classical work in entertainment that truly stand the test of time for example:
- Lord of the ring: still regarded as unmatched cinematic work and story telling after 20 years. The entire main cast survive (the fellowship), and the only noticeable support character who died was Theoden whose death actually serve a purpose in story telling.
- Starwars original trilogy: still regard as the best Starwars story. Did it need anyone dying? No.
Comparing to the derivative works you see these days like Game of Throne who kill off characters so fast you don't bother remembering their name. Or the mess that was the Starwars Extended Universe that laden with tragedies it makes you think the fandom are a bunch of people who suffer permanent depression. The fact that FF14 story had stopped relying on killing people left and right for impact like it's used to in 2.0 and 3.0 shows how far the writing had come.
So no, I'm glad Gahara is still alive. There will be moment he annoys you, but as long as he alive, his character will have a chance to shine, and shine again. While it's fair someone may not find his EW's involvement interesting, few would argue how great the Crystal Exalt was. And we wouldn't have the Crystal Exalt if he just died in 2.0, and the writers killed A LOT of NPC back then.
Literally nothing post 6.0 was worth the wait. This expansion has pissed me off more than any other in terms of content. It sucks because EW was set to take the MMO world by the balls after ShB and this is what we have to show for it.
I mean...it did take the MMO world by the balls. It's still very much successful, flaws and all. People act like ShB had so much more to do when really it didn't. Biggest difference is Bozja and frankly that was a watered down Eureka cause folks hate having to put alot of work in for things Ala Eureka. EW XIV is still in the top MMO space but again I'll say, if you're dissappointed with everything post 6.0 be smart and take your money elsewhere
Well it's clear 6.0 was a high point because it was the culmination of like 9 years. Things are bound to simmer down as the next grand thing builds up to pay off a long time from now. Can it be sustained? Imo 7.0 will answer that question. Totally fresh new adventure alongside the graphical update. Who knows what else is coming with that as well.
the long waits are where you really feel the lack of eureka/bozja areas. in EW we get island sanctuary which was the biggest waste. i only went there one time and never went back. it's been over a year and the only relic content we got was a tome vendor. after 1 year i feel the xpac is the same as when it started, except i am doing a different savage and 1 different dungeon.
