But you do. I am half right and half wrong. Let it go

I never said you couldn't land a #1 without lucid afaik? I've been very clear in my opinion that these sort of tricks are marginal gains and I also specifically stated that crit luck can easily overturn all these little min max tricks. If my memory serves me correctly, I think that PPPs were even less of a DPS gain than WHM cane slapping (Which is in turn less than half the dps of book slapping). Didn't stop us carrying bags full of them for raid day.
I simply took umbrage with your response to Noblewinter's post which also claimed that this board is full of incorrect information whilst in turn posting misinformation of your own.
Don't get me wrong, if Noblewinter had have claimed that all blms used Lucid and that it was an essential part of the 5.x rotation then this wouldn't even be a discussion, but they specifically stated 'outlier blms' which is a pretty fair way to describe it no?
The official forums will never be the gospel when it comes to true top tier min maxing simply because most of the min maxing forum posters got banned in the past. I personally got lucky with just a temp ban for making a guide on how to do 1k DPS sustained as SCH in Neverreap and Fractal at the very start of 3.0, the video had a plain text counter in it to validate what I was doing which promptly triggered the ban hammer. A lot of FC mates weren't so lucky and either got perma bans or just lost any interest in the theory craft here with the temp ban.
Anyway, I'm done with this topic. Hopefully it doesn't end up as the highlight vs whatever scraps we get from the Live Letter.
This is what you said in the first place. It was pointed out that "outlier BLMs use it during Umbral Ice" which is a valid, although incredibly niche, application. Both RDM and SMN can Raise, so Lucid Dreaming has a very obvious use case for the other two. Especially when you consider that Raise is basically the only reason healers use Lucid Dreaming too (aside from floor tanking). RDM's rotation is also still slightly MP-negative if you never use Lucid Dreaming. It's literally part of the rotation.
So yes, BLM uses it the least by far, but it's far from useless for the magical DPS role to have Lucid Dreaming. You're not half right just because you moved the goalposts.
My wishlist for Astrologian:
Card-Changes:
1. Cards should count, even when the encounter isnt started yet or you didnt hitted the boss already. Sometimes, your card doesnt count, even when you hit the boss during the pull.
2. Cards should be AoEs. That makes it more comfortable, because you dont need to select a target and the healer cant favor a specific player. That way, everyone get the buff.
Damage-Changes:
1. Make gravity like holy (without the stun). WHM can spam holy much faster, in a bigger range and without getting interrupted, when a selected target dies during the cast.
Pretty dam low, unless EW starts a trend that enhances jobs rather than reduce them because “Asriel Strife” said keeping up a dot is too much work
I think it's very deliberate that this isn't the case and I can't see it changing. If cards played outside of combat counted towards Divination, a lot of people would be making it a habit to wait at least 90 seconds between pulls to get 2 draws + sleeve draw + 1 more draw and possibly even waiting another 30 seconds after that so that you could draw immediately after playing the banked card.
I hope we see some cool glams tbh, Im also looking forward to seeing the pretty combat animations more than to seeing the numbers tbfh.
To be fair, they despise any nuance to the combat system and prefer to simplify it to "Press buttons, kill boss, get rewards"
I wouldn't be surprised if next patch they removed tank stance and instead added a toggle that reduced your aggro that way you don't have to worry about turning on stance at the beginning of dungeons
Hoping for the downtime portion of healer gameplay to have more buttons to press, or just to mesh the offensive and supportive kits together. Simple examples would be that dealing damage with Glare would hasten Lily generation, or that hitting stuff with Malefic would boost the potency of your next card played.
Sometimes I do spout nonsense. Im no Sebazy by any stretch of the animation. Everything I know about healing has come from this forum and for that I am very thankful. Sometimes a little nonsense is okay. There is usually someone more informed to correct things soon after. This thread is a literal fountain of knowledge.
I'm not really a fan of pre-buffs either because they're redundant. You'll never not want them. So why bother? Casting Protect and Stoneskin before a pull was pointless since bosses were purposely designed with the assumption you'd do exactly that. And you never wanted to cast Protect again because of it being a DPS loss while you literally couldn't cast Stoneskin II.
Now if buffs and debuffs played a bigger role in the overall gameplay, I may feel differently. But they didn't. They were just something a healer casted at the start of every countdown and never thought about again.
I distinctly remember slotting Stoneskin for dungeon runs in ARR back when it was castable in combat.
At the end of the pull while the last mob is about to die:
Cast stoneskin, Cast adlo while the tank is running, swap to cleric stance.
Gave a good amount of shielding allowing for PLENTY of time to dot, bane, shadowflare and a few blizzard II's (slotted) for some amazing damage.
But that's that whole "Skill" thing the FFXIV devs apparently don't want us doing.
Want to hear something even crazier?
When you're synced to lvl 50 (in the MSQ roulette for example) Ruin 2 does 10 potency less than Ruin 1 (150 vs 160). That content level, a solid book slap can do a GOOD percentage of damage (book slaps for like 50-60 when your spells are hitting for 300, don't have exact numbers atm but something like that)
So you can literally be spamming Ruin 2 and book slapping in between and do MORE damage and if you were using Ruin 1. It's basically like that until you get Broil at lvl 54
Expect more 1 button spamming and boring homogenization. The days of dynamic, interesting differences are over. The only differences for healing jobs these devs seem to care about are cosmetic in nature.
I've no hope things will reverse from the 5.0 design philosophy. They've all but ignored this community for 2 years.
It always appeared that Yoshi and co took the admiration of WoW a little too literally, following it would seem the route of dumbing down with age. Perhaps to refresh the appeal to milked demographics as they grow/change. It is a business after all.
Sure you can push for the 1% of scripted challenges that require some level of consciousness but that's hilariously ignorant of the majority of the game. Unless a skip pot or two happens to pop out of the pocket to relieve a new player of whatever the lower levels are now meant to be; You'll be nigh spamming a single button ad nauseam, a challenge regimen for staying awake at best. There is plenty to like about the game but a sense of complexity or depth sure ain't one.
I'm hoping to see the new moves for each job as well as current moves changes in potency, animation, or if u get em at a different lvl now and of the moves do anything different.
I know this stuff usually comes in a media tour but are they even gonna do that this year.
Seems pretty unlikely. Although the event was leaky as a sieve anyways, I still doubt SE would be willing to hand out pre-release builds to computers they don't control (not to mention, since they'd still need a server, support/setup would have its technical obstacles that they might not want to deal with).
Then again, maybe they could just give the trusted media outlets remote access to the test machines. Or maybe they'll try to make up for it in some other way, throwing more info than usual into other channels. Only time will tell...
I remember them saying before Shadow Bringers that they wanted to bring all jobs back down to a baseline in 5.0 so they could rebuild them into new things in 6.0.
I just wanna see if / how that pans out.
Honestly I just want a SCH kit that doesn't lock up similar to how SMN locks itself up when their stuff doesn't interact well.
But of course, SE is never going to listen to Healers. Because we're only supposed to heal...even when they put it in their own damn role tutorial we can do other things than healing. If anything, I'm prepared to have Sage become literal garbage and just a hodge podge of what AST was since they need another Shield healer.
Is it that hard to ask for fun, interactive gameplay for healers?
57 minutes as of posting. lets see if healing is going to suck for another two years or not.
sizzle reel showed an additional redundant heal (SCH got an aoe one) and no apparent new skills otherwise, so it's not looking good for the "please dont keep playing like ass" camp, but the healer cards are yet to arrive on stream
Media Tour is after the PLL, but the Embargo on information from it is in Mid-Oct.
