I do agree that we are not in an echo inside an echo....
no echo-ception here
But in FFVIII, didn't Ultemecia use her "echo" to go back into someone else so she could use that person's "Echo" to go even further back?
So what if you use the echo on me to go back into my past and someone in my past also has echo powers which you harness to re-echo?
Thats all foolishness of course, just thought it fit in with the whole "Mind Blown" theme of this thread
So Aether = lifestream and Dalamud = meteor?
And "Echo" = Ellone.
Where Laguna is?
What if you use the power of the Echo to teleport Dalamud back in time, to the point where it crashes on the Empire like it says in the storyline?
o.o
Echo fix coming in v2.0
I'm just gonna bump this thread since creating another speculation thread would be redundant.
You know in the beginning of all our nation's storylines, that meteor shower?
What if that is Dalamud breaking up, scattering the meteorites that will scare Eorzea?
HURRY!! 2 people need to fuse into Ragnarok and save us from impending doom!
I don't know if this thread has fuel or not anymore, but something interesting pops up in "Don't hate the Messenger".. or the Ul'dah version at least.
When in Mor Dhona clicking on the cart, you get a CS with the Black Wolf - Gaius van Baelsar.
He begins to talk with you about van Darnus and his plan to bring down Dalamud as a part of the codenamed project "Meteor" in an effort to cleanse Eorzea, as he seems to have a sort of god complex.
However, Gaius also hints that Darnus hasn't been acting like himself of late, and that there is far more to the plan than he is telling Gaius, or 'His Radiance' - seems like a trick of sorts to me.
He also states that Dalamud was sent into the stars as a part of Allag's (read: man's) hubris. He also goes on to say that Dalamud is far more than a moon - it's a sin launched into the sky.
I've no doubt in my mind that simply by LOOKING at Dalamud and talking with Gaius that the thing is most-certainly an Allagan creation, and that it's far more than any mere satellite~
To me, it's a prison holding some demonic entity inside.
And to that end, my theory is this: Dalamud won't directly hit Eorzea, because we (the player, Cid, and the Grand Company NPCs) put a stop to the plan.. or try to. Whatever is hidden within Dalamud is brought out, and this demonic force - whatever it is - changes the face of Eorzea forever.
But that depends, how far in "The Past" are you going in order to eat my cake? D:< I could be having cake the moment you walked in my mog house, and then you could've used the echo to eat it before I even take a bite out of it, and once I kick you out of my past for eating my cake, it'd still be gone.
Yes, but that does not mean Dalamud can't bring it forth from below the lake. I really think this theory is plausible. Just imagine the possibilities of the top floor of the Crystal Tower being Dalamud. Current players will know the entire history of the formation of the Crystal Tower. I think that would be very cool.
"I wonder how this tower got here"
"We made it happen, by stopping the Empire in the 6th Astral Era."
Perhaps bringing forth the tower is what stops Dalamud from impact, but the massive amount of Aether radiating between the two rip and shatter the land. causeing wholesale changes from the chaotic fluxuations of aether
Edit: Also if aether is a power of creation, perhaps it can make things grow at astounding speeds.
A final fantasy game with a crystal tower... nah that would never happen...

More like this?
Looking at the new trailer it appears you weren't far off. It looks like the tower comes out from Dalamud and hits the ground though instead of the other way around.
Edit:
I could be mistaken though. I can't tell if it's just shooting a lazer or if it's forming the tower.
