Limit the MSQ Roulette rewards based on the runtime.
Surely SE would have average runtimes for the MSQ roulette dungeons.
Anything below the average time would get lower rewards than those on par or longer.

Or... how about leave it alone because I want the full rewards??
I can't wait for this thread to wind down, fall off the front page, and be replaced by an identical thread within a week. Again.
The only reason the rewards exist is to keep the pool of players for these two dungeons populated. By turning those two dungeons into solo duties with predefined Trust parties, there is no longer a need for a system to populate them with players, and thus no longer a need for the rewards.
Aside from really, really wanting the rewards, what is the problem?
Well i HATE red mage, just cant play it properly. So should i just give up on ever leveling it and as a consequence forget about the mount for leveling all? Or just get it to 80 using main story and that other faceroll crystal tower roulette and then ritually burn all the red mage gear never to use it again?
Keep main story as it is, i'd rather SE spend the resources on somethign new then created some kind of convoluted system for this dungeon.
I have no idea what that person is talking about, skipping is nowhere near as rampant as they claim. I've been running msq roulette on my alt daily and have seen maybe one person cutscene skip, and promptly behave the rest of the run when multiple people said they would report them.
Someone somewhere has probably put this forward but the solution is simple. When a party first enters either Praetorium or Castrum IF there are no first-timers (which the game already checks for anyway) then pop up a dialogue box for all 8 people. In it, just have the choice, cutscenes: On or Off? If all 8 people vote off, then dont play them. It would be anonymous, like a vote kick is, so that no one knows who, if someone votes for on. I have been in so many of these where all 8 people want to skip. I say, use this mechanic that is already IN the game right now to let them choose, if there are no first time bonus peeps. Even with people who'd still vote for On, at least some times you'd get 8 people in agreement. Its better than how it is right now. But I feel like they wont do that because it might take a couple dudes a day of work or something like that. Thats the usual reason, "too much work." I still wish they'd do it.
I get it. I hate it too. but the whole reason the bonus is so big is BECAUSE you cant skip the cutscenes. if they remove the reward (and make the cutscenes skip-eable) I know I wont run them anymore....
I like this! As long as skippeable cutscenes does not remove the bonus XP though!!!
I wish i could gain one euro each time someone is bringing again a "eh, let's do this kind of voting thingy ! It sure will work !". I would actually be very rich XD
More like they will not do that because all old players would then avoid new players, making [already completed] pf groups, to finish their msq roulette quicker, destroying what its main goal is supposed to be : allowing new players to find a group for that.
Pixies, Alliance and Main Story Roulette and I get a level a day. It's fine with me and if i wanna grind more i have other roulettes and trusts i could use to level faster. Have dragoon at 77 and ninja and monk still left to do to finish, both at 70. Not in a rush but this formula works well for me.
As long as there are bonus the answer is "NO"
So here’s how this works. Because the cutscenes are unskippable the roulette gives a much higher reward than other dungeons. If the cutscenes are skippable, that bonus goes away. If there is an option for skipping the scenes if no new players are present, people will ditch groups that don’t have new players to requeue to get the bigger bonus. Some people already do this if they get Castrum instead of Prae since Prae has a larger bonus for being a longer dungeon. If they for some reason keep the bonus but let all vet groups skip the cutscenes, you’ll have players bailing when a new player is in the group so they can get their bonus faster.
If this were to ever work, it’d have to be the vote option if no new players are present, or maybe even just automatically skip them if no new players are present. However, to prevent/discourage people from just bailing to requeue, entering the dungeon uses up your daily roulette bonus. You don’t get the bonus till you beat the dungeon as normal, but if you leave the daily roulette bonus is used up and you miss out for the day.
Short of making it a solo instance, which of course means No One gets Any roulette bonus, I think that’s the only way to make skippable cutscenes work.
I must be lucky but I skip every time I run MSQ, and people always follow suit each time. Granted I also do not say anything in chat about what I am doing, so maybe that is why.
As I said I can only speak for my encounters but I skip each and every time and sure people claim they have reported me, but I do not respond and keep doing it. So far no action has been taken against me. Granted I do not spam them I run them for the daily skip the cutscenes. Though also might be because I often play as a tank or healer so maybe people are more likely to skip when they see someone that can keep them alive is also doing it.
They say they are going to report you but considering what a minor pain the reporting is no one propably actually does it and people say it works but i don't believe them. Maybe you're not getting kicked is because you, like everyone like you have friends/FC members covering each other. After all, when you have 3-4 friends with you the kick will propably be rejected and of course, tank or healer to make getting kicked even less likely as everyone knows the obvious of course. Lucky indeed, Hah!
Nah, I would not put my friends though MSQ willingly. That is cruel and unusual punishment. Though as i said I do often play tank or healer so I agree people are less likely to boot those roles.
I agree that my experience differs from others, might be the data center, time or many other factors dependent. Nevertheless, I can only speak from my own experience, and have yet to be removed from it though I also rarely queue for dps for msq since I would be at the mercy if the tank or healer.
Lol hard to Mongo the boss as a dps without help even in MSQ. Maybe I am crazy but when I first ran them before the change I was stuck in a literal loop of cut scenes after the magiktech mech ride along part. I was bummed at first since I missed the fights but did it again soon after and they fights were kind of meh tbh. Turns out I did not miss much, that is what gets me. The fights are basic to the core, they trash pulls leading up to the boss require me button presses at times. ( exaggeration)
The skip was removed because people insisted that kicking newbies on this roulette was fair.
The roulette was added so people helped newbies clear this content.
So Yoshi P replied by removing the option to skip.
You can’t kick people for skipping cutscenes on account of being stuck in a cutscene. You can still see their names in the battle log and report them when it’s over though, which I have done.
At least in Prae, the window opportunity for kicking someone is slim, since most people are in combat [due to add skipping] until Nero, and after that is a chain of cutscenes and combat. Really the only times to kick someone is after leaving Maggie and running the corridor to engage Nero, and after fighting him and running to the elevator to fight Gaius, and that's like 4 seconds at most in both cases.
I really love the, "Skip a portion of this game if you don't like it." I mean I understand the idea, but cmon really?
Anyway the solution to this should be easy. A single check at the start. Has everyone done this before? Yes? Great! Cutscenes skipped won't even start them.
Someone hasn't watched them yet? Guess what you are watching all of them. Kick them? You are still going to watch them. I can understand wanting to watch them and the meme of, "Movie/nap time" is apparent and obvious by this point. Though having an unskippable cutscene dungeon in an event seems either really cruel or a joke on the developers part.
So let me ask, if its too boring to go trough it, why do you continue to do it anyway(oh yeah, the "rewards")? I have done it propably over a 100 times just in these 4 months i have played with this character and the only reason i don't do them anymore (or any dungeon anymore) is because i don't want to do all the work for people watching netflix or something. This obviously is not the same thing as skipping the cutscenes but still... dealing with other peoples BS all the same.
It is quick enough if one skips the cutscenes, and not like you need the entire group to skip for it to be much faster. I have no issue dealing with people, if people want to tab out and do whatever that is fine by me, if the run is too slow I will leave.
I was just saying I could see why people view purposeful leeching different from simply watching cut scenes. I do not care either way, since I skip them anyways.
In the end i just do it for the daily reward that is it, I do a lot of stuff in game I find boring because the rewards are decent and it does not take that much time. If they made it ao you could no longer skip them at all I would never touch it again.
People keep suggesting this and it's not that simple.
Firstly, people won't stick around for those unskippable scenes. They'll abandon.
Secondly, the system needs to be able to give that choice, and it most probably can't.
We have had this discussion multiple times in this thread and every other one and next week we'll have a new thread where everyone will propose the same "easy solution" ten times over again.
If it was that easy to implement, they would have done it.
As for it being in the moogle tome event? They want people to run this content so they add the incentive. There are still several other options for you to earn tomes without touching this particular roulette.
Know what gets me does SE really not trust us at all. Why not just do what they do with current dungeons like say titan, you skip the cutscene you are simply forced to wait for the person to finish watching it before you can start the fight. It is not perfect, but it is something at least.
