Never did I consider you an enemy in any regard, honestly. I'm perfectly fine to have a civil disagreement - even if it does get heated. I think some of the confusion on my part comes from what I see as an indefinite stance, toward the whole issue of PL as it exists in FFXIV, from you.

The problem isn't level sync, it's just plain laziness. The reason why people resort to PLing is simply because they are too lazy to make a party.
It's the same thing that happened in FFXI - No leadership whatsoever.

People are scared to go on mooglebox, use the mob location tool, find out where to PT, shout in Ul'dah for 4~8 (Yeah, newsflash, you don't need more than 4 to actually progress in this game. Light Party, heard of it ?) Instead of resorting to PL even though you hate it.

Come on, it's not too hard is it? If I can do it, I'm sure you can too.

Edit: Oh, and with server merges right around the corner I'm sure there will be way more players to play with anyhow.

Okay, well your topics just seem... oh whatever. Forgive me.

My problem with Power Leveling firstly comes from the inverse leveling curve that is experienced between 35-50, and secondly the fact that anyone can indeed solo EXP at any time. (If you were on Besaid and in my linkshell, or knew some of my friends, you would know I absolutely will refuse to PL or accept it.)

I didn't care about it that much in FFXI, because as you said, it at least required some sense of effort on the party members, and it still wasn't all that worthwhile.

For the record, I don't even like Level Sync and I didn't like it in FFXI either because when you were using Lv.Sync beyond certain levels, you were missing out on a lot of stuff you otherwise wouldn't have. But at least Level Sync gives us veterans the ability to be able to help newbies without ever having to give them a free hand (I mean hell, I would like to be able to sync my marauder down to my friend's newbies levels so we can duo properly).

Let me sum up what everyone has been trying to explain to you: Level sync WILL fix the Powerleveling issue, even though it's not really an issue.....if you have a linkshell you can get a party, just takes some scheduling with your mates.

I truly wonder at the people who have problems getting in a party. Be social, talk to people, don't be a d*ck and you'll be invited to groups. I pretty much grouped from 15 to 50 without a single power level and feel absolutely no need for a level sync. Likewise in FFXI where everyone supposedly sat around all day praying for a party. You're doing it wrong.

Unless you're a online social pariah there is absolutely no excuse for not getting a party. If you only have an hour to play do some leves. If your sleeping pattern is messed up, group up with some Europeans/Japanese/North American players. People are out there even now prior to the merge. You just have to find them. Post on various forums, send a tell to some other newbies and before you know it you'll have invites through the wazoo.

I'm personally all for level synch. I played XI since release and it took me just short of a year to get my first job to 75, so I understand the feeling of "inb4". And I have a bit more respect for the players who did go through the nightmare that is dunes, or night time in Qufim, and trains to the zone in Crawlers Nest and Garlaige Citadel. But at a certain point in the life of XI, fresh people stopped coming in.

My point being is that you do not see people leveling in dunes anymore not solely based on level synch being added, but the fact that most people had their jobs leveled at the time that it was released; be it that they had everything leveled or they had what they wanted to level done. Eventually it got to where everyone was experiencing the same thing at lower levels that DRG was feeling... only there just wasn't parties instead of DRG not being invited.

Many people are correct, there really isn't that much of a problem right now since there is an influx of people coming into XIV based on the great yet still distant 2.0. But what happens in a couple years from now. Is SE going to scramble around and implement the level synch system when the fanfare of 2.0 becomes dim? I love the party system and the idea behind killing mobs to level up, it makes sense. Why would you become a greater warrior for taking a note to a guy in another town and then have experience points thrown at you? The only issue with the system is that you have to have other people to party up and level and eventually, just like in XI, those people won't be there.

For the little time I played FFXI, I had the chance to try Level Sync. It was really awesome! Higher level people could party with me and doing stuff together! I could care less about EXP, the important thing is that we were finally playing together, regardless of our level.

If this was implemented, a L50 could level-sync with a L30 player and go inside Toto-rak playing as L30s, and that's a cool thing is if you ask me =)

As long as higher level people can play together with lower level people, I approve the Level Sync. It can be such a fun mechanic!

i fully support the level sync feature, as someone bringing friends into the game anew i'm finding it quite difficult to help them out in a way that isn't fucking boring. Step one was getting them into my social shell, so that they could meet other new members and potentially have people to run with them when i'm not about.

Sadly, step two was PL them to 30 so they can find pickup groups. i wish i hadn't had to do that, i find it boring, they found it boring, but it was a necessary step. If we'd just had level sync, the shell could have gotten together and gone out on an adventure together, and i could have joined them as something more than a skeleton control officer for Mun Tuy Cellars.

A few LS mates throughout the day would log on and try to get a lv 30ish PT started. However the majority of our LS have all classes/job 50/50.

Naturally a lot of us would have teamed up if we were able to level sync.

It's too bad all these members weren't able to be online at the same time maybe they could have done a small PT. But there resorted to Leves or begging for PL.

i'm fine with levelsync as long as the needed EXP to level and skills are caped @ levelsync level. also i've noticed that even if level sync was implemented the higher the level of mobs the better the experience. ive tested it myself a level 15 dodo even at player level 10 isn't going to give you more than 350exp a kill.

I agree to a soft cap but not a hard cap. Should never be like FFXI was an get only like 200 EXP a kill in which some cases you would get more but that was ridiculous. Certain level ranges should have different soft caps in place when level synced depending on how much exp it takes to level. 50+ should stay where it is, they made it clear many times over by saying they didn't want this MMO to be like other MMOs where all you do is grind to max level the whole time. I want it to take a short time to get max level and enjoy the end game content, though the game is far from finished still. It is starting to get there with the new dungeons and other content but it still has a ways to go.

It sure isn't lazy, I have shouted, I have tried to make parties and still had no luck.

Sure light parties work, but when you are all melee and have no healer you aren't going to get very far are you ?

People keep mentioning server merge as if its going to fix everything, well "news flash" its not.. many of the people we will be merging with will already have multiple if not all 50s, the rest will just exacerbate the power-levelling issue even more.

More people = more power-levelling.

not sure why people think lvl sync can combat PL. If you are in a party and your lvls are synced as soon as that person drops the lvl will go back up to what it was.

I'm as ambivalent on Power Leveling as I am on Level Syncing.

What I don't understand is people who say that PL is the only way to level because they can't get a party.

This is flat-out absurd on it's face because FFXIV has built-in solo-friendly leveling system in Guildleves (remember those?). Whenever I can't get a party, I just go out and do Leves, and though the exp isn't quite as fast, it's still very good and will get you to endgame at a decent pace.

People need to stop using PLing as a benchmark for how fast they should be leveling and they'll be fine.. not only that, but they'll enjoy the game more as well.

In XI there was a cool off period, where you stayed at the level sync for like 60 second.

Plus after the level sync buff wears off you would need to get HP and MP back up so PL wouldn't work so well in that situation.

In FFXI level-sync let me party with my friends with no worry about our level gap and letting us use the jobs
that we wanted to use. That is all I cared for.

For me that option being available is most important.

Because there isn't always someone to PL you or perhaps you just want to EXP in normal party for a change? There is a whole thread of people here complaining about PL and wanting to party so how will it combat it? It doesn't have too. There will be people who level through PL and there will be people who level solo and with normal groups.

I still don't understand how people don't get and accept the fact that this game is gonna be a broken mess for the most part until 2.0 (hopefully..) and, unfortunately, the leveling mechanics are included with that...

I'm just thinking, soon as they add new class/new jobs, and then we'd have folks who finish level them the night they are released.
But I guess people don't like to travel through step A>B>C>D and prefer a giant step toward A>D while they live their busy busy lives.

I don't see what that has got to do with it, the game is seeing new additions and tweaks every patch to make the current version better.

I think its fair to say that most of us have learnt to accept and put up with the current version of 14, it doesn't mean there isn't room for improvement.

It's not like they have stopped developing for this version of the game. (there is still 7-9 months left before 2.0)

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for the fans providing feedback in regards to what features they would like to see, but it's a bit naive to think that they would implement a feature such as level sync before adding such basic functions such as an AH/Mail Box, etc.., but who knows, I may be wrong. /shrug
