Blue Mage will probably learn moves from all types (dps, healer & tanks), ... making it not possible to use / balance in PFs, without restrictions ..

besides even if Blue only learned dps moves (a huge ammount), trying to balance those in raids would take too mant recources..

and having Blue already have the moves it wants to his disposal for raids would take away its signature, ..Blue would need to learn moves in raids / DF and not just use only learnt moves, or its not what Blue was intended to be..., Carnival is its climax, where learnt moves can be fully tested / used

what are you talking about Blue Mages can use PF just not DF and are limited to 4 or 8 players. Blue Mages can't do PVP, Deep Dungeon or 24 man raids. The Developers talk about Oden and were kind a scared or worry that Blue Mages would break it. that is why I said test it out on Coil and if they Break it ..well Can't raid. we really don't know what Blue Mages in FFXIV would do. Hance why I said I PF only ok. We are seeing what the Job can do and given Feedback to the Developers so they can work it out.. put more limits or allow certain things. Some people think Blue Mages are a Great idea because it finally Gives player Choice in FFXIV instead of the copy and Paste we been doing since 2.0

There is 49 abilities for Blue Mage alone to 50, god knows how many to 80 and all the new jobs and cross class stuff.
Adding two jobs alone last time was almost too much.

All the more reason they should not have implemented Blue Mage this way.

The point is if you sick to what a class is suppose to be the class will work Tht's why i keep saying FF11 forgot wow and stick to your game which is FF11 FF5 FF6 FF7 FF8 all the awesome games idk why you would change your game to anything else when u see FF11 still shining its sad when you try to switch to wow is this about money other than your fans which been with you longer than anyone else you never dismiss fans over randoms thy will mess everything up its the same thing like you and your friends will you dismiss your childhood friend for a random person think about that ....

Because if people want to go play FF11 they can still play FF11.. 14 does not need to be a direct copy of 11 that's just wrong. This isn't a betrayal of fans or anything like that. You're taking a company's business decision personally. Which would be fine if said company was catering to you, or a group you associate with or anything of the sort. Which would be great for individual or small groups of gamers but it's a horrible business practice. Yes, they have to take the time to appease their fans and franchise fans, but at the same time they are tasked with growing this game in new ways, creating things that could bring more people to this game. It's a game of risk. What risk do you take and how big of a risk do you take to retain the majority of your player base while still branching out to grab newcomers.

Is everyone going to agree to blue mage and it's implementation. I mean the proof is already out there that the answer is no. Some are willing to embrace it with open arms. Some are willing to tolerate it and see how it plays out before offering feedback, and some have taken up arms and demanded fixes. Are any single one of those groups wrong in their approach? No. That's what it is to be involved in an MMO. We don't always agree to the content released or how it's released and we're welcome to give our feedback to it, but ultimately the company does whatever it chooses to that are in their eyes in their best interest while balancing out player reaction. They knew there'd be backlash but there would have been backlash any way they did it. So they went and tried to do what they felt would appease the most fans of the franchise while still offering something new to bring in new players or maybe bring in franchise players that haven't tried 14 yet because it is a massive deviation of the classic play style. So, yes in a way this is about money. Every decision the dev team makes for a game like this has to be about money. Because it is a business ventures. Companies undertake business ventures with the intention of making money.

They have not dismissed their fans at all they took a calculated risk at creating new fans and trying to retain as many of their old fans as they can while still appealing to franchise fans that haven't given this game a try yet. You don't have to agree with it. I'm not entirely sure that I do, but I understand it from a business perspective and can respect the risk. Only time will tell if it pays off.

Before anyone says they should be more worried about retaining their current fans than expanding and grabbing new players.. understand that grabbing new players is what's best for pleasing current fans because it brings in more money for them to do more things that we request. There's give and take. We have to be willing to compromise a bit too if we expect them to compromise.

Ya i'm going to give blue mage a try but i still have a bad feeling this way there leading blue mage is going to upset more thn just me i just find it very unfair the most fun job ever may not ever catch up in time whn it do it will be after the other jobs raise 99 thn thy will decide on raising blue mage are not if what i'm feeling happen rip blue mage just like fallout 76 Eso lol i can keep going wow already trash but final fantasy 11 still good i just hate Playing on Pc so if it was Ps4 i would quit final fantasy 14 and join 11 i'm 100% Sure alot of ppl would leave too all ready is them in chat talking trash about the game but i'll agree we can wait till January play it which thats not the problem we talking abt but will wait i'm not going to play 4.5 story going to see how long they take to raise that max lvl cap to 70 then see if we hit 80 with other jobs when shadowbringers release... The extremely talented team pulled XIV from the brink of failure and turned it into a juggernaut.

The only thing egregious is when some people attempt to speak for ALL fans like this. Like since when am I getting betrayed. I would have felt betrayed if they stripped the job down and remove the collection aspect like countless people in this thread have recommended. I don't feel betrayed by getting something true to the experience of the job.

You act like they did it solely on their own. They had the -other- juggernaut to paint what works for that scale. They did a good job. Don't paint them as infallible or even batting a .9 average.

When it comes to Jobs, they've shat the bed quite a bit, with decisions that a basic playtest could have pointed out that "This doesn't make sense why this is this and that is that".

Frankly it's a joke that anybody could make that assumption given the job I play and my post history.
Some decisions are good, some are bad. But this has been something on the table since ARR. I'm sure they've gone through plenty of alternatives and ended up with this one. I'm going to at least look at the tool tips before I render my judgement and try out it's end game before I start doing off the wall things like saying the team isn't applying themselves hard enough. My word.

The Issue goes SE Force Final Fantasy 14 1.0 out thinking they could Count on a second Success Thanks to Final Fantasy 11 and what was there. Then when that Failed thanks to The Developers Bumping everything to Max (Yes I'm Looking at you Flower Pot) and having other issues like it couldn't run right, Crash and other things wrong with it because SE wanted it out before the Developers were Ready to Let it out. Now you keep wondering why I'm saying this because you have to keep in mind it takes 5 or more years to make a MMO (Yoshi-P did it in 2 years and patch up 1.0 to 1.23). Sorry guys but they are working Hard maybe harder then anyone knows. As for the Blue Mage I would wait and see but at least they are making it right and keeping it fateful to the Blue Mage.


P.S. People Saying Work Harder to the Developers is very stupid. when you have no idea what they are dealing with.

If thats pointing at me i wasn't saying they not working hard i'm saying i hope that they don't hole blue mage back like.. lets say shadowbringer come out. Then they decide to just raise blue mage to 60 in patch 5.5 then they wait till they decide to release a new expansion which could be lvl 99 cap then decide to raise blue mage to lvl70 thats wat i'm looking at i don't really like the classes in game right now in final fantasy 11 ya i loved summoner to but this summoner still not there yet really don't look like a summoner at all

btw, after the 1st (buggy) shock of F76, it's waaaay better than the bashful critics are saying

though recommend to play it mostly solo (for atmospheric reasons), and only occasionally join up with others for some bigger / difficult events

Not entirely sure I understand what you are saying here, but everyone has their opinions and ultimately will voice them if they choose to. My point in what I said perhaps should have been stated more clearly. When I say this is not a betrayal of the fans. I mean the dev team has not gone out of their way to undermind fan expectations and sat in a dark room going. "This will teach those fans not to ask for specific things we've said no to." or something of the like.

I don't recall him ever saying he didn't want to add blu. I remember him saying he didn't know how to implement blue properly because if he was going to implement blu into this game he wanted it to feel more like a traditional blue mage which he is a fan of.

And implementing a traditional.. (Please note people who are against this implementation of blue mage.. I said Traditional.) once again key word here is traditional blue mage would be an absolute nightmare. Which to be fair.. it likely would be in my opinion. I can't say for sure because I've never developed a job for an mmo I don't work in the gaming community so I cant particularly speak for the complications of developing this kind of thing.

Finally! Solo content to pass the time rather than nasty attitude groups. I am so looking forward to something different. :)

As long as they're holding on to the whole "BLU must have broken abilities" thing, they will never allow BLU in highest level content. And that's exactly why it's bad idea.

Bad idea's are subjective, what is bad in some their mind is a great idea in others. There are plenty of traditional combat classes, lets try to have one limited job and see where it goes.

Blu mage is a caster job who learns his skills by mobs - tho in every game he provides multiple atk, def, heal & support skills which makes him the most flexible cls - useful on every role without any backdraws. Using this system would break cls balance - in SEs opinion, therefor they created the new "limited jobs"* which are locked out of specific matchmaking- or end-content.

Actually all Blu Mage threads are just about the rage of people who don't like these restrictions cause they want to take it to eureka, pdt/hoh, primal farm, ally raids or savage - no reason to get fussy ;3

*I personally like the idea of limited jobs which get their own system and rules like more open world ep or personal challenges. I can imagine that other cls like Beastmaster/tamer (solo pet gather focused f.e), Onion Knights or Mimes... simply for all the cls FF provides and they think they can't balance along our main jobs/cls. Its better than keeping them out at all Imo - and content you can do all by yourself if your bored by dailys or progress/savage is never wrong...

Ya let the true warrior run free the the lesser job knee lol no really blue mage is just fun there is no job in FF tht can match blue mage and as for all this bs abt SE system it need to be break not saying make blue mage op saying let the players run free let us be able to solo anything if we have our builds or jobs set up right i hate this ideal of if your tank die or healer die when mob at 30% health There's a 45% This is going to be a wipe even if your a elite player you Can't stay alive because thy hve it set for you to die if tht happen unlike FF11 you have a 50 % chance to solo this mob if your character build right Tht's the system thy need to bring back remove the echo helper there is always ways to balance a game out so blue don't be op or w.e Your so afraid of i'll say it again look at FF 11 thy fix it you can too you bring FF 11 from 1.0 to this game wat we have today so i know they can get blue mage or any class in to this game without breaking anything

I’m not even sure where to start with this. Heck I’m not even sure there’s a valid point in this post. Final Fantasy 14 is not and will never be FF11. What you are saying here is you want the dev team to rip apart the core battle system (which would include ripping apart the entire, dungeon, raid, fate, deep dungeon, trials, and alliance raid systems.) and implement a direct copy of FF11’s combat system.

I kind of have a hard time grasping why you are even playing 14 if you have this issue with one of the core gameplay components. Despite not liking playing FF11 on the pc you can still sub to it. Run it through steam there’s your controller support if that’s your preference. But using final fantasy 11 as an argument for reasons they could make blue mage a full job is a nonargument. They are not the same game not even remotely from my understanding.

Omg noo i'm saying stop with the bs trying to keep all dps full dps without healing spam let spam heal but our heal wont be like healers. But i see have thy want us to wait on a healer to heal if thy gave other classes healing the game would be alot better thn. pvp healer can do more than just heal thy can dps to if u look at the way thy showing the game in pvp it don't look like pvp anymore thy took everything away wat i'm saying is lower the cooldown on ability heals to 10.00 tht Would be alot better also i'm not saying rip the game apart i'm just looking at what i believe there trying to keep dps from doing like RDM atm which thy may nerf soon so thy don't heal so much. There goal look like its always abt the team not the players if the heal drop and no one has raise rip group Tht's there goal or if healer Can't raise tank fast rip group .....

And worst case scenario, if the Masked Carneval is the only end game BLU can participate in. As long as its fun I don't see an issue.
But! We don't know, we have no insider information, we have no idea what the future plans are for BLU.
Assumptions are just that, assumptions.

What we do know - level limit is 50, you will have to grind a lot of mobs to get your required skills, and you are excluded from DF but you are able to join up with others through PF. They have plans however to raise the level cap in a future patch.

So, "just" fates and masked carneval is by all means a very narrow look upon the job itself.

It's nothing more than a wait and see now. It's too late to alter course and they have a ton of feed back to do with what they choose. Just about a month to go.

It's like saying "I don't like salad, but if you remove everything except the lettuce I'll give it 8/10". If I wanted atmospheric reasons to play Fallout I'd enjoy the actual single-player titles that do it far better, rather than tune out of the features of an MMO-Fallout. I'm by no means a hater of the new game - even the videos that had painted it in the absolute worst light imaginable proved to me that despite its flaws I could easily find enjoyment despite them... But that doesn't make it good. They may be smoothing its edges, but there are an obnoxiously huge amount of edges and most of them won't remedy the issue people have with the overall product.

As for FFXIV and Blue Mage, again, it's a wait-and-see deal. I understand people are annoyed that it isn't being treated like a regular job, but if they did, people would swap from complaining about "Solo Class" and instead berate it for not being true to its origins or being nothing like an actual Blue Mage for the sake of balance - in such a case you may as well play something similar to [Insert Other Class Here] in anything other than job title. Wait - and - see. And when you've seen it, push actual constructive feedback on the topic. If the distaste is still sky-high there is a (small) chance for consideration, but it won't happen with other classes on the horizon and a whole expansion of additional content, whatever it may be. Give them time and at least pretend to appreciate that they heard the call for Blue Mage and got a ball rolling, even if you don't like the shape of the ball.

Anyway what i'm thinking abt doing is saying F 4.5 content i'll just wait for blue mage content because if i Can't play the class i loved why play at all not only tht as we can see alot of ppl are quitting because of this mess thy doing now thy Do THIS to blue mage whats next.... Going to just stick with this because this is the most sensical point I've actually come across in here.

Unpopular opinion incoming! I personally think the way they structured BLU is just fine. Looking back on FFXI If i didnt have a specific spell I would get removed from party Sheep Song and Petal Dance were the 2 biggest for this. So if we look at it for 14 and people wanna roflstomp [insert raid boss here] and the BLU does not have Lv.5 Death would you realistically keep them in the group or find a BLU that has it? These were the types of questions the devs were thinking of they even gave examples during the live letter. Can you still run content with BLU? Yeah it has to be a pre-formed party but they can run the content up to lvl50. They cant do roulettes but they can run dungeons or do the lvl 50 ex primals or raids. But BLUs structure for how its being implmented is pretty much needed since again taking from 11 BLUs spells werent as powerful as the actual monster abilities they learned. Where as ours for 14 its sounding like we will be getting the full powered abilities which means BLU as far as balance goes will be overly over powered which is good for solo play it means you'll be as strong if not stronger then a full party. But this is just my 2 cents in all likelyhood they'll remove some of the restrictions gradually as time goes on.

Tht's your point but again ppl don't give in if you want to see blue mage in content like they should be the main thing i keep seeing is ppl tht don't really want a farming class in game tht will out dps other classes Tht's wat i'm seeing

I do not know what will be the future of BLU in the months to come.

What I do know is that, for now at least, it can't do high end content. So I'll give it a try when it can. If it never is able too, then so be it.
I'll level the rest first with the expansion, to keep up to date and do primals and savages with several classes, and give BLU a try after that. Who knows, maybe by the time we're done with 5.0 in summer 2019 they figured a way to put in classical endgame content.

All I know is I'll not rush to it and just wait to see (not wait and see). I just don't want to spend time in something that would NEVER reach endgame no matter what. So for people like me the best thing is to wait to see, not january's edition but what his first evolution / limit breaker will be, and stop complaining about world's end. There are still at least 2 new jobs, and several skills that might profoundly change existing jobs' gameplay, so "limited" jobs are a bonus.

F76 is imo just more fun when played alone, it was intended to be playable alone..., the "Mmo" part is for players who enjoy social aspects more than the immersion of playing alone..

some enjoy to watch movies like Scream or Alien with budies and beer, their main enjoyment is being with others and not the choice of movie

(movies like Avengers would be better to watch with buddies though, .. but Scream and Alien have their merits when watched with others)

others would rather enyoy Alien alone late at night, more than watching Avengers with buddies

as for BlueMage, there are people out there, that enjoy Solo-content in Mmos a lot.., BlueMage could be ideal for that.. and lets see if its fun as such too (hopefully with good rewards too, like exclusive mounts)

Tht's not why i'm complaining abt Blu some of its just because its the cap starting up and i want to play blue mage only.. If thy can make a job that play like blue mage thn i'll give up on blue because right now all the jobs in FF14 suck but only thing i mostly love is the story abt my character its sad to see how things are going on around her i just Can't wait to see how all of it play out so i really hope i can get a job in game i like too not just story

With how strict the balance is for FFXIVs raid scene, i think it was unavoidable.
Blue Mage is a horizontal progression job.
Raiding in XIV relies on a purely vertical progression.
