My one annoyance with the legacy mark is that it's not just limited to legacy accounts. It's limited to legacy characters. I started over in 2.0 with a new character on a new server, and while I've never regretted doing so, I'm a little sad that she don't have the cool tattoo.

1.0 player here.

I could honestly care less if SE gave out the goobbue mount, dalmund horn, manderville earrings, and legacy chocobo because LITERALLY anyone who played 1.0 could get them.

However, with White Ravens, it took hours of learning a fight (like someone else mentioned it was like ultimate raids now) and working with a static to execute the fight. This fight was about 25 - 30 minutes (depending on your group) and required a lot of execution and communication. Video for those who haven't seen the fight: https://youtu.be/HI8oib1o2_4

I was one of the individuals who recieved this reward, now being handed out for free I think is an insult to all the people who earned them.

My only request is that if these white ravens mean nothing anymore then I should be able to get all the PvP exclusive mounts (the lone faehound, lone hellhounds, etc for Feast) by going and doing a quick quest. I mean after a few years right? It means nothing at that point.

As a legacy player it is disappointing and sad that most of these comments come down to the legacy players being entitled. Like I said earlier, have literally anything else but the White Ravens, these were something that a handful of people worked hard for and shouldn't be trivialized.

I will not really contribute throwing shade at anybody but there is a question I have:

Who of the people who got the earrings actually wore them? Or still does?Do you constantly show me off? It is completely fine to do so after all. I mean, you make it sound like it was the greatest accomplishment after all and nothing can ever beat it.

Not blaming ANYBODY but I know I forget items very easily when i'm not wearing them a lot.

I can understand that it MIGHT be annoying for you guys but if you didn't even wear them or anything... it's just kind of "yeah i did it once, nobdoy else is allowed now! Especially NOT as an event reward! How dare!"

Comparing 1.0 Nael Deus Darnus [Hard] to Ultimate seems like a huge exaggeration. At the very least, I feel it's comparable to T9 (though from what I've seen, appears easier? T9 wasn't exactly a cake walk and took around 17 days for people to finally beat it).

So they promised Legacy specific items will never be reintroduced. They never promised other armor sets and other various items would never be reintroduced in some capacity.

Legacy items are the tattoo, the chocobo, our name in the credits and a permanent reduction is sub cost. As long as the tattoo and choco stay exclusive that's all we really need since that was all that was promised.

Yes that's what I thought too.

They really should give out the Stormblood pre-order ones if they are giving out old stuff, you know the ones that get you bonus exp to 50% so people have stuff to level more efficiently before the next expansion.

It was more like an ex primal level of difficulty. Ultimate and even Savage where much harder. The hardest part about doing 1.0 Nael was finding a group for it having to shout in town for hours.

1.0 was funny. I really find funny they cling to the Goobbue so hard now. Back then ppl asked for Goobbue mounts often and then when they finally gave them to us, for free and with 0 effort outside of just talking to the Wandering Minstrel, the forums exploded with angry people who said it was the stupidest mount ever even though the community campaigned for it as one of the possible new mounts. Goobbue and Coeurl were the top 2 iirc. Now they wanna hold onto it like its gold. I was the first person on my server to get the mount and I sat there for a good amount of time listening to ppl raging about how stupid it was in shouts and says.

The tattoo and choco tho, thems off limits. That will even anger me, those are the items we were promised exclusivity to.

This Fight just looks like a longer Casual Fight, nothing special.
Even Bosses in 24 Raids look harder : )

Had a feeling, but I was being generous since I can only watch and not experience. If we applied that exact fight into ARR-SB (fight unchanged, but with FFXIV's current battle system), the fight would be a joke. I even watched the Ifrit EX 1.0 fight and it seems the hardest mechanic in that fight is the animation lock (saw people doing a countdown thing to signal when you could use weapon skills).

And if what MicahZerrshia says is true, then SE aren't breaking any promises (with the earrings).

OMG the special item (I never wear but I want nobody else have) is going to appear now in game to those lowly players. NO WAY!

OMG the Goobbue Mount (I had laughed of because I think it was stupid at the time but whatever) was given to those filthy 2.0 players? NO WAY!

Is hilarious to see some of those 1.0 players raging about losing "privileges". Do you feel like the aristocrats in France about two centuries ago?

I don't see the problem, it doesn't change the accomplishment by the people that cleared it.
If else, they can share the story now that the item is well known to other players.

But i agree with the "should" have the fight too with the Minstrel, would have been fun ^^

To be fair using "entitled" isnt exactly the best way to counter the argument that some of our fellow 1.0 players have in regards to feeling cheated in the loss of their 1.0 Trial item. While I personally do not care if they release most of the Legacy items for the 2.0 playerbase I do understand the sting they feel, especially given my mood lately with the path this game is taking, still to not to go off track yes they are entitled in the same way you are entitled to your thoughts and criticisms for the game and the actions of the dev team. You must remember everyone in these forums are fellow paying members who pay actual money to keep playing this game which very much makes you and them "entitled" to certain things surrounding the game. Please don't try and dismiss any argument with this silly word.

Also had they wiped the data from 1.0 it would have set a bad precedent for the game since potential customers would look at the action and reconsider what would happen to newer players if the team can't even support those who stuck by them in their time of need.

You are correct, no promises have been broken. Personally I feel its fine to bring them back if they somehow associated it with the content at hand or a modern remake of the fight itself; maybe recycling the assets from Nael's fight in the coil to earn them. I think this is where the real issue is to be honest. The treatment of a reward from content was considered "hard" for 1.23 standards being given away as a trinket. Honestly I think that would be a fun and proper tribute into reintroducing the White Ravens into the game.

They're...earrings...I'd understand if it was something ya'll wore all the time but it isn't a title. It isn't a weapon skin. It isn't an exclusive piece of armor. It's a pair of goddamn earrings. I'm far more pissed off that the exclusive skins for the 2.0 relic were reintroduced as ilv350 crafted weapons, but even then I didn't care that much because none of the weapons had the radiance effect of the 2.0 relic.

THEY ARE EARRINGS.

Do they give stats that matter? No.
Are they level 370 or higher? No.
Are they even pretty looking or glow in the slightest? No.
Is their worth the same as your reduced sub, fancy chocobo and tattoo? Hell no.
Are they as cool as the 1.0 titles you and no one else can still wear? Not in the slightest.

Your take away from that experience of yours was supposed to be the fight itself, not these trashy earrings that probably went directly into the armoire as soon as you were able to store them. Their value is incredibly negligible compared to everything else you received as a 1.0 player. They literally chose the least valuable item and put it in as an anniversary reward to pay homage to 1.0. And guess what? When this event is over, anyone who joins the game after or doesn't do the event at all won't be able to get them unless they want to spent $7 because you know they're going to chuck these babies into the cash shop as they do with all event rewards a year after release. Or maybe they'll be nice and not do that, but regardless it's on the table now.

Anyway point is, just like with raids during their "Era of Relevance" the biggest reward is the experience of the content. Dev team cares little about in game rewards given which is shown in how gear progression works in this game. They care more about us enjoying the content itself and expect the content to be the biggest reward. It's unfortunate that recently they're failing to meet that goal of theirs, but it still stands. You got to see the fight. You got to see the fall of Dalamud and play all the exclusive little special things the team put out as the game came to its abrupt conclusion. And you still have other rewards that they will not be giving anyone else anytime soon that have vastly more value than a pair of ugly earrings. Like you honestly already have more blessings than you think you have.

I like how people are saying it doesn't matter, they're just earrings, no one notices them anyway.

Surely if they're not valuable for their looks, and they're not valuable for their stats, then the only value they have is as a rare memento for 1.0 players who did the fight?

Doesn't feel like anyone benefits from this, upsetting some old 1.0 players in exchange for something the overwhelming majority of 2.0 players didn't know existed, didn't care about and most likely will never use.

I just wanted to throw my 2 Gil in here by saying that I agree, the White Ravens and Manderville Earrings should have been plain, level 1 Replica glamour items. Not literally the same items from 1.0.

Certainly enough to assume, but if they didn't specifically say the White Raven earrings will never be available again, particularly while there are other items that are still exclusive to legacy players, then they are not breaking any promises by making that item available again eventually.

You can be disappointed that they're being made available, but you can't say they promised to never do it. (Or certainly can't say that quote proves they promised to never do it.)

And I still think it's possible that the Stormblood items are the cheap giveaways, and they might make us work harder for the earrings.

I wouldn’t expect this—the event is a level 15 event. At most, we’re looking at a FATE or Minigame for that low of a level; not something challenging or that would require any sort of serious effort.

What crock. Rivenroad Hard wasn’t something from 1.0, It was the last instanced fight introduced. That clearly falls in the “battles” and “achievement rewards” that will be “exclusive to that period”.

They said there were items exclusive to that period in the Seventh Umbral Era. We had every reason to believe that the hardest fight specifically from that time would have an exclusive item, we trusted the devs with what they were saying, and the whole point of it was to get us to trust that they would turn the game around .

Just because they are a business, or they have their game now(such as it is)doesn’t make it okay to break their word.

What exactly would be wrong with them being a rare memento till the servers shut down? The lack of supply wasn't hurting anyone, it isn't like 2.0 players were clamoring for this item to be re-released, there wasn't any real demand here.

All I am saying about these items: SE if you bring back exclusive items from a version that does not even exist anymore and that was for a fight that was not that easy, you have no reason not to put all the limited merchandise items back...be it Mogstation or new merchandise..also you have no good reason to let us not have the limited mounts from ingame content that are not achieveable anymore...

To put it into perspective, when people promise each other to stay together "'Til death do us part", that's usually about 8-11 years with no deaths involved.

This promise lasted for 6 years. So they're about 30-80% more shady than the average person as far as breaking one's word goes.

I can't really imagine being all that put out by somebody getting the chance at something I had already gotten during a limited time event. It doesn't impact me at all. It doesn't take away from what the thing or the limited event was.

Something being "limited edition" and then released again doesn't really change the sentimental value of the thing. Maybe the monetary value, but we're not really discussing any sort of monetary value attributed to the item in this case. Only that the item now "means less" because it's available from a different event.

The item that legacy players have still has the same meaning to them, it hasn't changed the sentimental value. And new players having access to the item from a different event simply means that the item has an entirely different sentimental value.

If your appreciation is devalued because someone else is able to appreciate something differently, maybe you're attaching too much significance to material goods.

So if I get a relic first week and then it get nerfed i should be enraged.

If that’s the case, then they should have made the initial quest level 30 like the Moonfire event. I can already hear the complaints that will form about being “barred from the event”. Regardless, it won’t be anywhere near the original difficulty of 1.0 Nael van Darnus, and I still question how much effort will actually go into it. I’d love to be proven wrong, but given the recent track record of content released...
