This is likely the biggest reason they won't relay that information. If they acknowledged people will lose all their houses except one, they will mass sell everything, which defeats the whole purpose of SE trying to accommodate FCs first.

You do have some good arguments and we probably have to wait for 30.01 for the final confirmation but if above points are those things that they did not want people to know...why would they talk about this right now? Why not wait till the servers are down to keep people from creating and leveling FCs to get a house. I mean it might be some hard work but its still quite possibly to do that in the amount of time until the patch goes live. Why not post this from the very beginning? I mean it might have given them even more of a time but those that are dedicated enough will manage to do that anyway. So if those where the secrets why post them already? They could have just posted the amounts of new wards and maybe that FC gets it first (and the time when they will sell it) but still dont talk about the other points so that people wont prepare for it or sell their stuff. Its just so strange.
you might be okay on a smaller pop server like coeurl. it's the big servers, like balmung and gilgamesh, that are going to suffer from this.
Maybe it is a mannequin! Possibly a pre-built too for something like a clothing shop decor. I was squinting to make out details, but those do appear to be headless.
edit: Went back to the video to check it out and he specifically pointed at them in the picture and said something. Where are those futuristic auto-translation modules from all the sci-fi shows when you need them?!
I would hope for something that shows a full glamour set if that was the case, but we get what we get. If anyone happens to speak Japanese it's right about here that he points towards them and says something.
As far as I recall they only said they were working on mannequins/weapon displays for sometime during this expansion, but no specific patch has been mentioned (or translated at least). Now that you mention the weapons though... is that a shelving unit next to those garment displays or a weapon display rack?
So i been away for about 5 weeks due to vaction and trip to LA. But i don't understand the new changes.
From what i've gathered they going to give dibs to FC with 4+ members but what about relocation?
My GF want to upgrade her medium plot for another plot but since we already have a FC house together she want upgrade her personal house to this other plot.
Lmao at all these greedy players defending other greedy players who own multiple estates, its pathetic. There is absolutely no reason anyone needs more than one plot and so far all the excuses here don't make it ok, yes share is to blame mostly but the players are still guilty of being so selfish, especially since there are casual players who actually work for a living that can't just camp the wards on patch days. While I don't have intentions to own a house anytime soon I still find everyone pitiful who would argue mine and similar peoples viewpoint, if you disagree with this or try to attack this then YOU are the problem.
never camped a ward on patch day in my life..have owned 3 houses for over a year n half. wile i sat n watch houses drop in price to smalls 1.5 mil med 8.5..not my fault u were on the wrong server. ive also personaly bought 12+ houses for friends of fcs i knew needed them since im a max crafter and making gil is silly easy...I didnt wait for a hand out from SE i took it in my own hands and payed the $18 over a year n half just to have houses.
You say its greed..I call the others selfish specialy on my sever we were a low pop server till people to a free ride to move..Now its i got my free ride give up your houses lol
I could have bought multiple small houses in the Goblet. I decided not to, but it was silly easy before. The preferred server status did hurt natives and long-time server members. I have no issue with multiple house people, since those houses were begging to be bought.
I only have a single house and don't plan to get another. I do support multiple house owners being allowed to keep what the have. How am I being greedy? One could say you are the greedy one wanting what someone else has (even though it will do nothing to fix the real problem).
Given how many multi house owners have come out of the woodwork recently I fail to see how anyone can honestly believe requiring multi house owners to give up their extras would have zero impact on the problem. Again, using everyone's favorite example, it would be at least 26 more houses for others to enjoy.
I also personally feel that the fact you could only buy one house per character in a game that really only needs you to have one character was kind of proof that SE expected people to own one house but IDK. The blame lies mostly on them, but I honestly believe that the people who own lots and lots of houses aren't entirely in the clear either.
The ultimate issue, though, is that the housing system at its very core is a mess and ONLY instanced housing will solve the issue.
The only problem with this FC only time period is that now people who want the larges are just gonna start making FC's with their 3 other alts to go snatch it up. Especially if FC's without a house get priority.
This is really only a bandaid on the problem anyway, on my server when housing districts come up, most of the houses are gone within 10 minutes of it opening up.
I work 9-5 yet I have owned multible houses over the years. Currently own 4 houses among multiable service accounts and alts. I did nothing wrong as the game allowed me to own these houses.
I'm grateful they will be grandfathered in so i dont lose my years of decorations and gil/time i put into these.
If you already own an FC house on a server none of your alts will be able to buy one. According to my understanding of the update if any of your characters belongs to an FC with a house you will not be able to buy an FC house. This is even if you don't already own any FC houses. The only way to get around this would be to quit all of your other FC's to buy the house then rejoin them all.
I hate people with multiples houses, you go to any ward and looks like a desert, there's no people there, many houses are locked without even a single furnishing, not even a garden, what the reason to buy that thing if you're not going to use?, let people who's interested to use it get a house.
At least when 4.2 comes out you're not allowed to buy more than 2 houses ( personal and FC ) for Service Account, maybe now everyone can have a chance with new plots and residentials in future updates.
Now my wish are about personal houses being allowed to use Airship and Submarine too, at least 5 Large Plots for each Ward and who knows to be able to buy a Large Plot to me, because in my server when Shirogane cames out all Large Plots had been sold out in -1 min, everything in -5 min, i couln't get mine ( i bet some people use any hack, it's not possible ). Now the situation in Shirogane is around 70% abandoned houses, a new desert residential.
I bought a large Shiragone plot 30 and the only decoration I had in it was a retainer Bell. I just recently started decorating 3-4 weeks ago because I wanted to craft all my furniture and learn how the decoration bugs worked. At this point I still only have a kitchen set up but it took me a couple weeks to learn how to manipulate the decoration system and craft my 50+ Windows.
And it doesn't matter what a person does with their property because you don't own it.
What if I came to your property yelling at you for not maximizing your garden patches by crossbreeding the most valuable plants or because your interior didn't suit my tastes and that you should have your property taken away.
You would think I am a complete idiot.
Your acting just like that by telling people they aren't using their properties "right" so they shouldn't have them.
The thing that bugs me most?
It isnt people that own multiple houses. It isnt even people who flip plots for gil - both people put in a ton of patience to acquire plots.
It is the autodemolition timer. It is forty five days long... Which means someone had to have stopped using their house so long that they wasted over a month's subscription. The best part? IT GETS SHUT OFF! Look, i get theres real life catastrophes out there in the world, but if people are in those situations, the last thing they'll be thinking about while burying their kid or simply finding out the best bet to clean their house is a bulldozer... Is "Oh, hows my FFXIV account doing?"
People want to complain about empty and unused houses, and we all sit here begging for changes that wont do squat. If they are actually unused, let the autodemolition timer actually work. If we turn it off for every catastrophe in the world, i hope no one ever introduces SE to US news - theres a new catastrophe almost every week.
You cannot blame people with multiple homes but how the housing itself was implemented and no rules applied at the time.
Do not deflect the issue at hand unto those with multiple homes but push for proper changes (adding more wards is not a good step forward)
It's not about personal taste or maximizing garden patches. But to use your house somehow, not only to take away the opportunity from who was interested while you're going to do nothing there. Just wasting a plot with a empty house without any purpose, and yeah, they shouldn't have them if they're not going to use it somehow, imo people should lose even their names if they're not playing the game anymore like some MMOs avaliable, i can't use a name i was wishing for because someone played the beta years ago until Lv9 and never came back, that's not fair for who's actually playing and wish a inactive name.
And i hope about this new rule for better days, i don't care if i don't have any plot since people who got make some use of it, and i hope about more several rules if this one doesn't work.
Double the NPC vendors in-doors! Allagan nodes and Snake people NPC vendors! Removal of the (imo) silly one-bathtub-per-house restriction! Sounds great! XD
...now let's just hope the new bathtub isn't one-per-house.
Updated with patch notes info. As per usual, let me know if I missed something. :D New pic with a bunch of furniture appears to have some wall hung kitchen utensils, a new cabinet, wall storage with doors, some new food and a much better quality showing of that parition with ceiling drop. Sadly the new fixtures stuff does not apply to blank partitions. :( Best to avoid rare/cash shop wallpapers for those.
I can't wait to see what people do with the tubs now!
Falling, the auto demolition is necessary with all persistent housing systems in any game. It creates a limited number of houses/wards for the whole population if someones not subscribing or playing, their house should be auto demoed after a fair amount of time to allow someone else to acquire it use it who will hopefully actively use it. If you want to a housing system that dosen't require auto demolition you need instanced housing not persistent housing. Forty five days is plenty of time to allow for someone to keep their housing plot/plots from auto demoing if they care about them. If someones not playing or knows they wont be able to play for more that 45 days they need to prepare for that scenario the world (Servers) keeps spinning in said absence.
That a white partition with the center cutout?! I need this in my life.
You need to re-read what Falling said. Falling is mad that the timer keeps getting turned off. Falling's point being if someone is burying a kid, then they really don't care what's going on in some game is correct, but it also is why the timer gets paused for major catastrophes. When you lost everything else you have in the world, it's super nice to know that the game you've been paying money to and playing forever will pause the timer they have that would normally destroy all your stuff. I know many people who are still trying to get roofs fixed on their houses, or just recently had their house torn down (and will have to rebuild it completely), or a million other things after Harvey. I honestly don't know if any of them play ffxiv, but I imagine that if they do, then they have appreciated the paused timer.
I mean, let's be real here. This conflict between players about housing and who owns what is totally, completely, utterly pointless because it ignores the fact that housing in Final Fantasy XIV is legendarily bad in its design. There's no point at getting mad at people who own multiple houses; they're the symptom of a horrendous housing system, not the cause. I will never understand how anyone at Square Enix approved such a poorly designed, badly-implemented housing system that benefits an incredibly small portion of the active player-base.
If Square Enix can't open enough wards to accommodate the majority of their active players, they should make housing instanced. Especially since the neighbourhoods are mostly empty anyway.
If Square Enix can't or won't make housing instanced in light of this, then I'd honestly prefer that they just remove housing entirely. There's no point to a gameplay feature that 90% of the playerbase can't access.
And just because I know someone's going to bring up the asinine argument, Savage raiding is not "a gameplay feature that 90% of the playerbase can't access". They're not the same thing.
