Do you really think there wont be eastern themed gear in Stormblood?

It'd still cost dev time to code as a player mount. Time they weren't otherwise willing to pay for without the existence of the Mog Shop team.
There is a budget entirely independent of the primary development team exclusively for making the Mog Station items. They have to vet each one internally over whether or not it's profitable.
That's not even going into the fact that a huge chunk of the more recent (and expensive) cash shop items are imported from the Korean/Chinese versions of the game in the first place, so the pricing structure has to stay the same or Korean/Chinese players will throw a shit fit just like you all are doing right now.
This is always the reply -most- people use. Many people I know wants it and wont buy it for serval reasons. Too much for glamour items, since we already pay sub and we all know most free to play MMO's you have to buy things in game store to unlock things, such as item slots and glamour/vanity to keep the game going. But since we all pay sub and 13 euro/18 dollars for a glamour is a lot for some people. I don't have money issues, but I think they should be cheaper. Just because me and you can afford, doesn't mean everyone can shit out money buying everything off the mogstation. As Op mentioned, square enix does business. Their job is to get much money as they can, but they would gotten a bit more or maybe a lot more if they sold them cheaper. I also think getting last years event gear from mogstation is stupid, unlike in FFXI you could get the previous gears items from the NPC's.
I hope you aren't serious. There are people who wants the glamour too, but cant simply afford it, is that so extremely hard to get? I can buy 2 of them right now and still have money, but that's not my point here, my point is... many can't afford and you already pay sub, why do they have to pay for items that cost more than the month sub itself?
But they're not taking resources away from the main development team to make these items in the slightest. They are separate teams with separate budgets.
They have gone on record as saying the cash shop items wouldn't exist in the first place if this cash shop team didn't exist and decide that these items were profitable enough for inclusion.
I'm not touching rentable storage though, dunno the thought process behind that one.
Yeah, because in programming structure any object can just be turned into a mount without any work what so ever right?
This is one part of the mogstation cash shop I was disappointed in. When FanFest 2014 came around, I was super excited about the ingame items. They were items you had to obtain during FanFest, and was meant to be exclusive. Then I was advised about the same folks who didn't go and watched the live stream getting the same items similar to us who went to Fanfest. Okay, that's cool, I thought. Maybe not like being there, but still semi, I get it. A year or two later, it's now a cash shop item. Devs already mentioned in the past that the FF X gear will be cash shop available too. All past event items that were part of an event are now purchase-able via the mogstation. What's the point of exclusive events if ALL of it is gonna be mogstation ready?
Didn't get this last event? Don't worry! Wait next year and it'll be available for 20 bucks or less! It's a little ridiculous. I have to wonder how much all the content will cost for the Yoko event honestly lol. I'm generally curious. That was a LOT of items too.
This has actually been part of FFXI for quite some time now, and with the amount of content that players do, similar to how we craft here in XIV more than they do these days, the rentable storage actually works out for both games. As someone who sells quite a bit and often ingame as a crafter, and grabbing more and more amounts of crafting supplies while we inch closer to StormBlood, I find it helps me a lot more when I run out of space on one or two at max items sold. 40 slots to sell is very small. And I usually max out all 8 retainers on my character and come up even or more in less than a week once everything on all the retainers sell. So I can't really complain about it.
Whenever I see that kit is available for real money purchase it makes me lose interest in it. Sure, folks can buy it if they want, but all it does is announce to everyone who sees them that they're a fool. Impressive gear is gear that takes an investment of time and skill to obtain, not gear that requires a credit card and a 5 min trip to the Mog Station. But it has frustrated me that Square seem to have put their best designs on sale for real money trade, making the kit that drops from efforts in the game look inferior. It betrays real hypocrisy in a company that claims to oppose rmt (and claims to ban accounts involved in rmt) and yet ignores reports of rmt advertising in game, tolerates a perpetual stream of blm bots with random character names blatantly traipsing through Uldah and Gridania (incredibly easy to stop), and at the same time seeks to cash in on its own "premium" items with a real money shop.
"Real money trade prohibited.... unless the profit is ours."
Coming from path or exile, you guys are taking the pricing of these cosmetics way too seriously.
Selling vanity items exclusively for really money isn't greedy because you think the price is too high and you can't "vote with your wallet" on this point.
On the forums of other games people complain about balance. This forum is just whining about the dumbest ideas.
If it brings on a idea, people will find reasons to complain about it. I buy some items here and there for the cash shop and don't mind it once in awhile. Though I think it depends if it really fits my mood to want to buy it or not. I haven't bought the mounts (except Odin so far) since it was the only attractive looking mount (to me anyways), but I did buy a few other items. Anything event related though, I usually make time to keep my sub active or buy a new sub about the time the event comes out, and then chill/hang out lol.
Usually my reaction: Fantasia for 10 bucks... ughh...
My reaction 5 minutes later on new items: Oh! A new outfit! :D
Dont ask me why lol.
The prevailing argument is that because the items exist, period, they should be included in the game as part of the subscription.
What they all conveniently ignore is that these items aren't paid for by the main development budget or influenced by the dev team whatsoever. The cash shop team decides very carefully on what items they want to invest time and resources into, purely based on whether or not they think it'll be profitable.
Why else do you think eastern-styled glamour items are appearing in the shop right before the expansion with an eastern-themed area?
Someone at SE marketing decided "now's a good time to bring these Korean/Chinese assets over to NA before the in-game assets arrive with Stormblood"
That's not true at all. We can look at a simple comparison of items added to the cash shop in 2017 (that were explicitly designed for the cash shop) versus items added in-game in 2017 (that were added as part of an event). Cash shop items will not include past event items, and here is why: because these items were once available for free in-game as part of an event, and were not designed with the Cash shop in mind.
Cash shop (2017):
--Barding: Angel Barding, Demon Barding
--Emotes: /playdead, /backflip, /easterndance, /easternstretch
--Glamour: Aymeric Attire, Heavensward Attire, Fuga Attire, Moogle Cap, Moogle Attire (including the two Moogle attire items even though one was originally a pre-order bonus for ARR and the other the Heavensward Fan Fest item)
In-game (2017):
--Heavensturn 2017: Red Tori Kabuto, Black Tori Kabuto, Happy New Chocobo, Heavensturn Orchestrion Roll
--Valentione's Day 2017: /dote, Angel of Mercy minion, The Kiss Orchestrion Roll, Paramour Vase
--Little Ladies' Day 2017: Songbird Attire, /songbird, Eastern Cherry Petal Pile, Little Ladies Day Advertisement
--Hatchingtide 2017: Egg mount, Eggstravagant Interior Wall
--Make it Rain 2017: Rainmaker hairstyle, 3 new Triple Triad cards, Stuffed Sabotender
And this isn't even including any new glamours, bardings, housing items, or orchestrion rolls added during Patch 3.55 ~ 3.55b. So, no. Items being added to the cash shop does not negatively impact the amount of items being added in-game. I think that this list is more than enough to prove that.
Let us also remember that some of the items (mainly those that came from China or Korea) had to be bought with real currency in their respective countries, and were brought over to other countries due to player demand. Yet, people in these other countries wanted the items added in-game for them for free, even though Chinese players and Korean players had to pay real money for them.
Prices of things could always stand to be cheaper. Ask anyone if they want things cheaper than current price, and only a fool would say no. However, no one else has control over what an individual does with his or her money except for the individual spending it. If it bothers people so much that others want to spend their money as they see fit (be it on a glamour item from the cash shop or be it on buying merchandise from the SE Store that has DLC attached to it), perhaps you should find a way to let something like that go. It's not like someone is using your money to buy cash shop items.
The community really brought this situation on itself. Some of you may recall that a few years back, a character named Lightning would occasionally drop into Eorzea. This was extremely successful and we had a number of new players who missed these clamoring for the next Lightning event
However, a vocal minority of players who had already participated in the Lightning event insisted that Lightning should stay out of Eorzea forever. And the developers listened, for whatever reason, and threw the Lightning gear on the mog station instead, where the hordes of Lightning fans no doubt bought it as a sort of consolation prize.
Now, look at this from the perspective of a Square Enix executive: They see players loudly demanding that they don't want anymore world events, and at the same time, those same (apparently) players are buying huge amounts of gear off the Mog Station. I have no doubt that YoshiP is being ordered at this very moment to cut back on cool new world events and spend more time selling knick-knacks and baubles for the Mog Station, and it's all because you guys didn't want Lightning to Return to Eorzea.
When other people do something that is contrary/unhelpful to what you would like to happen (i.e. cash shop prices to go down, items to be account-bound - not things SE is motivated to change when people go ahead and spend money), then you have every right to be annoyed at those people.
Like I said; there's some really weird decision making going on!
Totally agree with OP, but you know what? 'Would probably let it be, if they weren't screwing over players from hour 01 (!!!!!!!). Weird server-moves, weird game-play changes, and YES this cash-shop is getting appalling as well!
What is really going on here? A new manager looking to maximize profit, while screwing most of us over? What???
Mmm. Cash shop existed before the Lightning and Snow Attire was ever added into it. Just want to throw that out there.
Also, I'm guessing you missed the threads asking for a FFXV crossover event, and a Nier crossover event. Last year we had Yokai (as insane and painful a grind as it was). This year we have the still-ongoing Garo event (also a grind, but at least its PvP and not FATEs). With regards to Yokai and Garo, SE could have very easily just made a deal with the respective producers to throw the items up in the cash shop (with the Garo gear being level 1 glamour sets), but instead, they were added in-game as months-long events.
Im perfectly fine with SE putting Tons of Glamours in the Mog Store as long as its Glamour and NO REAL Armor with high end Stats.
I think movie theatre concessions are too expensive. What do I do? Refuse to buy anything at the concessions. What do I not do? Criticize other people for buying stuff.
A. The server move was announced in advance by several months. There was an entire post by Yoshida explaining his reasoning for this.
B. The "weird gameplay changes" have been spoken of by the dev team for several months, almost an entire year, in fact. Personally I don't fault them for holding their cards this close to the chest, people on these forums are downright unreasonable and will throw a fit over anything.
C. Cash shop has literally functioned like this the entire time, there's nothing new about it. The argument just starts all over again every. single. time. more items are added to it.
D. If there's a new manager "looking to maximize profit" there hasn't been any staffing changes of note announced by SE.
Y'all need to take a damn chill pill.
not even remotely the same. your movie ticket doesn't automatically come with free concessions. our subscription comes with mounts and emotes and equipment.
you're one of those people who love paying baggage fees for airlines and getting less leg room at the same time right?
You're one of those people that thinks your sub pays for a lot more than you actually agreed to, right? A movie ticket grants you access to the movie. A sub grants you access to the game. Period.
You can argue all you want, but maybe you shouldn't agree to things without reading/understanding what you are agreeing to.
4.1 FINAL FANTASY XIV Subscription Fees. In order to access SQUARE ENIX's servers to play the Game, you must agree to a recurring subscription ("Subscription") with a minimum subscription term of 30 days, and pay a recurring subscription fee ("FFXIV Subscription Fee"). Square Enix may offer different subscription plans in its sole discretion. Further, Square Enix may offer you the chance to purchase additional features for your FFXIV Service Account, which we call "Add-ons" or "Options." Add-ons may be subject to either additional recurring fees or one-time fees. A "Recurring Fee" is a fee that will be charged on a recurring basis until you terminate your subscription. A "One-Time Fee" is fee that is only charged once. All fee rates will be posted at http://sqex.to/ffxiv.na.fees and any changes to Recurring Fee rates will be posted with 30 days' advance notice and notice will be provided to the Game community. Square Enix may change fee rates at any time in its sole discretion, and will use reasonable efforts to notify you at least 30 days in advance of any changes to any Recurring Fees. All FFXIV Subscription Fees are billed in advance. All FFXIV Subscription Fees are non-refundable, with the limited exception in Section 4.7 below.
A) It's not about the announcement, but about screwing 1.0 legacy players over, aka the result.
B) Again it ain't about talking about stuff or doing presentations on idea's, it is about what actually has been done. The result.
C) What? You didn't even play at the start it seems. Wauw.
D) So, if this isn’t about maximizing profits (even the game-play changes; ooh... you need a new xclass for the abilities, how about a boost potion?) .. what would it be about? Our comfort?
You need to think a little tiny bit before posting straw man arguments.
That's not for you to decide. Just because these items exists doesn't mean they SHOULD be included. Is like buying an iPhone, there's all sorts of apps and add ons. Just because they exist doesn't mean they should be part of the deals. You either buy them or not.
It's just that simple.people should STOP crying over it and bloody move on
A. How did the NA server relocation screw over legacy players? O.o First time I've heard this one.
C. Why does it matter how long someone has played the game. Just because you've played the game longer than someone who started in 3.0 doesn't mean anything. You get to pay a cheaper subscription price, if you're a legacy player, and you have some legacy player shinies. But that doesn't necessarily mean that you know more than newer or non-legacy players.
D. I can understand the dislike for Jump Potions, but for the majority of players, cross-role is going to be immensely easier than the cross-class system. I don't need to level up ___ job to get ___ skill for my main job's ____ rotation. Those are all included in the role skills as you level up the one job the role encompasses.
