What about the other question I posed. Do you think there is another method for the Devs to get the items across without having the Japanese playerbase feel like they got ripped off?

Seeing a Japan Only release like this when I'm already considering whether it's time to take an extended break from the game is not very conductive to keeping my subscription active.
Just saying.
"Ripped off" is a odd statement. Like I said I guarantee this deal is less likely for the Japanese FFXIV players than it is for people who don't currently play FFXIV.
But let's say that someone felt ripped off because they got rewarded for buying (Perfectly good) consumable products they didn't lose out on anything they were rewarded a in game item without needing to do any of the associated work to get said items (Grind MGP, get achievements, craft, or purchase of the market boards). It's a perfectly fair trade-off much like I said with cash shop items are fine as long as we can get them ingame somehow.
They did this with the metalic dyes (Only because of what I can assume was hilariously bad sales of the things) and the items now serve as a luxury item that can at times sell for large sums of gil making a purchase on the mog station not entirely out of the question if the player does not have the ingame means to attain the item.
I'm sure they are just trying to do good business, because Japan hosts about 50% of their player base (I recall from the last time I saw the user found statistics) And that the JP consumer market often has many of these types of cross promotional and seasonal events.
I just wish they had of secured ways for all players on these servers to obtain the items before releasing them.
It's possible that the codes in the promotion wont be able to be redeemed until a certain date, but we won't know much until SE tells us.
I was very upset to see any form of region exclusive items. The fact that they are so cool looking only adds salt to the annoyance.
Oh that is really pretty. I'd love that for my male Elezen. I hope we get it in the game or Mogstation. There is no Seven Eleven in the Province of Quebec in Canada. I spent a month in Calgary (Alberta) drinking Slurpee everyday, and sometimes many times a day, Slurpee was so good I was hooked on it, and I've been Slurpee deprived since I left and came back home, since there is no Seven Eleven here :(.
I'm fairly certain these items will be added to mogstation at some point after the Japanese event is concluded, while it would be nice to get them in-game, I doubt it, since it would alienate the Japanese players who participated in the event. While some will get the necessary points through normal daily routine of buying from 7/11, I'm fairly certain a good portion will also go out of their way to go there just for the points.
Highly doubt they'll try to promote the event in NA/EU through 7/11 though, they aren't nearly as common as they are in Japan, I live in NA and nearest one to me is nearly 300 miles away. Only store chain I could really see them working with that has enough presence across the entirety of the nation, is Wal-Mart, though personally I hope they don't go that route. No clue about how they'd promote it across EU, and even then that still leaves out the rest of the world, I've met people that play and are from South America, Southeast Asia, and Middle East, none of which were even mentioned in regards to the event.
I'm not fussed over this. It will just be like the other outfits people asked for from events that happened to be put on mog station they put it up and hardly anyone glamours it so I don't care if I dont get it just a re-skinned mount and generic maid/butler stuff that's just my opinion of course.
BTW... The way married people restock the Magicked Prism Wings is by this Campaign too. Or non-married people can access to this wing also?
^ You won't have to be married to get those prisms: if you have a Japanese account and can do the event that is.
The amount of whining about this is shocking. They already stated they are looking into bringing the promotion to the other regions.
It's not an ingame event. See it more like the NA community events, where everyone outside of NA can't join.
A way to bring these also outside of japan? Winning prizes for Challange trials during E3 and Gamescom.
I doubt the item code will be region locked
I see only 2 requirements
1. Be in japan
2. Visit a 7-Eleven branch
If anything, but that. JP/KOR/CN in those countries cashshops of any game are huge cashcows. In fact i think, if it were not for non jp players, p2win on small scale and even more heavy grind would already be in the game as distant past. Japanese may tell how they are all about working together but one thing is for sure they will pay premium in no time if that will somehow make small distinguishes noticable, Koreans are even worse offenders. The need to feel somehow superior by spending money as type of investement for all the premium goods/services that entail this investment is much more ingrained in their culture. If their "keigo" system is any indication, then you should understand that.
Yeah live in alberta I am not sure you can't find a 7-11 anywhere there is 10,000 people or more and usually that is multiple 7-11s. The idea that certain states don't have 7-11 is foreign to me. I get Quebec they probably don't want to deal with the language laws.
To the other people. They have definitely not had the greatest track record on following up on content that has made players angry. I could easily necro probably 100s of pages of housing failures, pvp failures, and add ons. All stuff that players have screamed or been denied after being told it would exist. Is any of it fundamental to your enjoyment of the game, maybe not but who are you to judge what people deem important/special to their game play.
They clarified this issue already. Its only redeemable on JP accounts.
That said, they WILL bring other regions the glamour/fat chocobo. They just have to figure out the BEST way. Yes, you will pay for it with $$ like JP. No it won't be an in-game reward as that is HIGHLY unfair.
TL;DR: We're getting them, chill. It will still cost $$, stop asking for it for free.
I can't speak for Koreans, but Chinese players have it the worst, they even have it terribly with FFXIV. The ability to buy Crafters AF2 without working for it, the ability to be boosted to level 50 and skip everything before 3.0 (won't let me link this one for some odd reason), the ability to buy level boosts for individual classes, and so on. Their cash shop is certainly worse than ours, and while it's not really "pay to win" as most Chinese MMORPGs are, it's certainly a poorly done system.
On the plus side, they can individually buy the merchandise minions.
That's because in China, most kids are afraid to spend too much time playing games, because since 2008, Internet Addiction has been classified as a mental disorder there. Many kids get sent, by their parents, to government run Internet Addiction Rehab centers run by the Government, but they are actually closer to juvenile detention centers. There are multiple cases of kids getting beaten to death at them by their instructors. So yea, a lot of Chinese players would prefer to skip all the fluff asap and get to the endgame.
Wow, is this... wow. I understand why parents might be worried as people have a tendency to die playing video games in Asian countries, but to send them to rehab centres, let alone extremely strict rehab centres? I'd guess the parents are too busy to properly monitor their children and setup parental settings on their router? They've certainly been a huge help for me, something they definitely need to look into.
With all that in mind, I don't believe it excuses Chinese companies from ripping off their customers, especially when it comes to a subscription based game you pay hourly for. I hear the Chinese costume goes for $20 and I remember people complaining about the prices of sets like the Minfilia one, I know the "It could always be worse" argument is an awful one to make, but I'm glad we're not stuck with that payment model.
No wonder I see some news about teenager died at internet cafe for playing too long and didn't even eat anything and adrenaline keep pumping because of the tense (This bothers me too when playing PvP and my body suddenly shaking because the urges about which skill should I do next to kill the enemy, but never happen when PvE).
Why not world-wide 7-11
I'm gonna die from jealousing QwQ
OMG, honestly who cares!!! Like are you guys really hung up on stupid glamours and mounts? Jesus. Your acting as if they made Alexander raid exclusive to Japan. Unreal imo.
here are the information how much drink cost from 108 yen to 151 yen 税込 = Tax

So thats just a little over Sleipnir's cost then in regards to the Fat Choco mount?
