they won't get rid of class system...
Yoshi mentioned recently, that they won't make any big changes, cause it would be confusing, if they revamped the whole system.
3.0 is expansion, 2.1-2.5 are just patches. and it's not likely to be any 2.6.
2.5 will probably be in feb, and 3.0 in may.
could be boss in new raid. but probably they will continuously expand the new raid, like with coil, so Shinryu will probably be last boss before 4.0.
going to be many more nin, than drg; though i guess the trailer will make drg more interesting, to some folks.
no, why would we? that would make ppl quit.
that's not dat mining, it's picture from Sokens computer. maybe he just made some music for domans, that sounds sam:ish. but sam job would be nice.
i don't think that's what it's about...you go to lancer guild, learn to use a spear, then you use those skills to become drg.
and since they have branching jobs, both SMN/SCH share ACN skills. if they didn't have classes, they would need to add 16 new skills to both SMN and SCH, or split acn skills/add skills to SMN/SCH, and any other *branching jobs* But in short, they'd need 16 skills/job. (well maybe close 30 with class+job skills, to lv 60)
but any job that use spear/lance, would use lancer skills; it doesn't make sense that you'd need to lv the jobs, seperate.
Jobs unlock skills through soul stones, but it doesn't provide you with knowledge about how to use a spear; the LNC guild, does.
that would be nin relic in that case. for everything else, rog/nin, will use same weps.
they aren't dawdling the expansion :) it's not finished, and takes a long time to do all the new content. they are following a schedule, so they need to follow the 3 month cycle. They can't just quickly add 2.5, and then shortly after, 3.0.
gld->drk doesn't sound plausible, unless they revamp gld. drk would be to OP, with all the defensive buffs, if it's meant to be a DD.
there's 6 months to expansion, so there's room for 2.5, in Feb. It will finish up CT, like 2.4 will finish up Coil.
i know a lot of ppl hate it, but i don't really mind it, except that it would be nice if you could use any wep you want, with any job.
would be cool if classes were still tied to weps, but depending on what wep you use, the job will be different. So you could be LNC->PLD, and be more of a DD oriented *holy avenger* than tank.
I wasn't saying they were dawdling I was saying they need to avoid doing so. The xpac is on it's own timeline that should be more or less independent of the current patch cycle. Considering the patches have each been a little more than 3 months apart it would probably be best if the xpac was not that far away from 2.5 (likely first week of Februaryish). Mid-April is not a bad target, but if it's finished before then I can't see an incentive to wait on releasing it.
Classes should be removed and replaced by a generic "Freelancer".
Class names should have just been titles auto generated for how you spec your Freelancer.
That way, classes can still end at 30, and midgame jobs open up as they do currently.
But with the Freelancer tag, the stranglehold Classes are having on holding Jobs back can be done away with
IMO, big class/job changes keep the game fresh. Similar to how WoW removed talent trees, or SWTOR's changes last year and removing talent trees this year.
Don't take it personal or even bother - He does nothing but personally attack people (and somehow not banned for it) when you dare say anything other than ARR is perfect. Every topic that has anything with "negative" feedback he comes in and attacks them.
Know the funny part? While NPCs must also have a class tagged to them (even if it does nothing) there's an 'Adventurer' class which is the 'unarmed' class - So if they truly wanted to, they could make the switch to that unarmed class and it be kind of like XI of sorts where weapons doesn't completely define you (since jobs could use multiple in that game) but more so the soulstone + weapon. So as 'Freelancer' you could use most basic skills (cross class etc) but can't really "specialize" or gain traits that specializes in anything.

If you don't like reading what I have to say, put me on the blacklist, I don't even know you. I'm voicing my opinion just like everyone else's. Some people think the class system is horrible, but I actually like getting a class to 30 and then getting a job stone to upgrade it, so we have two storylines and two mentors, I like the distinction between a fighting art that everyone in Eorzea can sign up to learn and the ancient or lost arts that are the traditional FF jobs (makes them feel more important and above all, which I find a nice homage to the series) and if they ever decide to start branching classes into different jobs, the idea of specializing in different styles starting from the same class (like a possible Geomancer job opposite to White Mage) would make me very happy. Stop I'm assuming I'm here to troll. Guess what? I love giving positive feedbacks to the devs and think they'd wanna read it as much as all negative ones (that are far outweight them). I am playing this game because I love it and love to the states the reasons why I do.
Thanks. I read somewhere that they wanted to stop focusing on the primals but with the news that they're putting new ones in the exp I have nothing to worry about.
You mean equipping the PLD stone to your LNC?Quote:

I don't think the class system is horrible, I just don't think it's needed. In FFXIV 1.0 there were only classes, no Jobs. Then Yoshi-P enters and adds jobs ( because he knows most fans like the job system, but with the class system in place he really could just simply drop it, so they added Job Stones).
Notices Yoshi-P never says "new classes", he only says Jobs. Which can be taken in 2 ways:
1) Drop of the class system and use strictly Jobs ( would make things easier, and besides I rarely see anyone using their class now in days, only jobs, so dropping the class system wouldn't do any harm really.
2) Adding jobs to existing classes
Personally, I see the class system as a pointless system, but it doesn't bother me either as it doesn't affect my gameplay. I do think however that the class system ( outside of cross skilling with other classes * That happens to be very limited as it is anyways*) doesn't really do anything for the game as it is, best to remove it so it's one less objective to do when making Jobs.
They could still be making new classes along with the new jobs but he just didn't mention it. They are introducing rogue + ninja soon, maintaining the current system approach, which I think would be unnecessary if they were planning to remove classes 6 months later.
I get what you mean, I have never gone back to conjurer since I got to level 30 and would never think of doing so, but I don't really see it as a fault in the system. They're like the base from which we build or jobs upon, so there's no reason to go back to them, but it's not like they're thrown away like an old piece of equipment either. I guess it'd made more sense if we had more than one job per class.
I can see why gameplay-wise it's useless but the transition from class to job (getting a new name, a shiny stone to carry around, new storyline/mentor, additional skills) helps break up the monoty of leveling a class. I would welcome more variety in cross-class and the like. Radacci's suggestion was cool, I personally love the way FFTA handles cross-class skills, but whatever they wanna do, I hope they keep the core class/job concept we have now. That's all I'm trying to say.
It could also mean that since a completely new job would require a new class it goes without saying so there is no point in mentioning it.
Now the really interesting part is how Ishgard is mentioned as the fourth city state. The implications are of course: new gathering and crafting classes, another adventuring guild, a new housing ward, a new starting zone, a new grand company...etc.
That's quite big.
i wish they make a specialization for each job, like a lot more trait and player can choose which trait they want to use
so, that warrior and this warrior have something different if they choose not to use some trait
each job will be a bit more unique
This sounds cool (like class trees with how other rpgs do it) but unfortunately Tanking or Healing can only be done so differently and can only really apply to DPS jobs BUT each class/job already does a specific role so in FFXIV ARR it's more like if you want to do X then Level X Job/Class making each job unique already.
PLD = Defensive CD, single target tank ez, flash on mob crowds somewhat effective but not as good as Overpower
WAR = HP Buff stuffs, overpower mob crowds ez
I've yet to cap any healing class so I can't do the comparisons.
Now if you can blink tank like Ninjas in FFXI (even though that was never intended) that'd be a different story.
What I'd like to see out of the expansion with the jobs is more class splits like with ARC/SCH/SMN
GLD -> PLD/SAM (Already defensive base, split into 2 different kind of tanking, maybe SAM can be the 'blink tank' and do some kind of gimp version of Seigan + Third Eye)
What DRK would stem from idk beats me lol.
In case you did not know, back when we had 1.0, in Coerthas there was a small camp that had the Shepard Guild sign right on one of their buildings. That was going to be a new gathering class at the time, but the original development team never went through with their plan for it. No one actually knows how that class would have worked out. With the current crafting classes, I do not think that there could be any more of them. They pretty much hit all the major points for real-world crafting that we have in life. It's just that Goldsmith actually works with bones, so we could have had a Bone crafting class if the development team took that away from Goldsmith.
DRK? Probably a new Ishgardian class. As I mentioned above, Ishgard is advertised as the fourth city state, and as we know, quite a lot is required content wise of a city state.
Question is, what classes make sense thematically in Ishgard?
Not to advertise, but I made a thread in the class forum dedicated to this very same question.
I also put a primal thread in the lore forum, and somewhere around here is a thread where the logo is disected.
I think these are the only places where Heavensward is being discussed.
I wouldn't mind one for the zones, either. That weird, floating mountain thingy looks quite intriguing.
The Ishgard castle/city is Alexander, the Holy Primal. It's going to be a repeat of Alex vs. Dragon a la Final Fantasy 9. Please look forward to it.
It does, doesn't it? :D
Well, according to a few sites, the chocobo forest is a confirmed location.
Another thing? What do you guys think? How literal is the title? Might we actually visit other planes of existence during the story? Perhaps as a way to perma-kill Lahabrea and Elidibus, the two ruffians leading Ishgard?
I feel safer calling it a guess so I dont accidentally put my foot in my mouth, and it is Final fantasy after all. For all we know the "Floating continent" could be floating underground and the airships we are going to be able to make are flying diggers! Not likely but could happen! Maybe!
It was funny in your head, and ain't that what matters?
(it ain't)
well i think it is called Heavensward for a reason..
http://wac.7725.edgecastcdn.net/8077...2014/10/16.png
Ishgard is referred as a "holy city" which is governed by an archbishop (you saw him in the end of "Through the Maelstrom" Trailer)
So i think that the story in Heavensward has something to do with that "holyness" around ishgard and the bishop
the story has much potential to it ;) im sick of the garleans anyways^^
Maybe the new race is...
From FFXII Revenant Wings

With the lizard race coming before 3.0
Well actually as far as we know, we could be playing underground the whole time?
Most likely we are not, and heaven really is just the sky, buuut there is no harm in speculating. Especially since we have nothing else to do.
Speaking of which...If we get into Dravania, might we get to the poorly translated Sharlayan for some extra lore?
wont think so.. there is only one race to come.. and a winged race would be very awful, too...
i would rather think its going to be this race:

During the Las Vegas Fan Festival (yesterday), they had a panel where Yoshi P said there were Floating Continents / Land Masses. So, "Yes" I'd imagine we'll have 3.0's version of "Sky" from XI perhaps? (One can only hope.) :) I hope it's as interesting with a good system for the dungeons / spawns (i.e., not just a DF Instance Jump).
I am all down for any overhauls they want to make to the game, especially the UI look, take away that ugly grey, bleh! xP
But I am really happy they aren't afraid to make overhauls and changes to the game and aren't stuck in their own ways, to make the game better!
this reminded me of this

yah. and then instead of getting tank:ish pld skills, you get DD skills instead, like spear oath or something,
It would be a bit awkward to start as lv1 DRG, and go to LNC guild, and learn how to use a spear.
Going to LNC guild, and learning how to use a spear, then become DRG, at lv30...makes a bit more sense.
that's how they do in many games, and there's always cookie cutter builds, that you need to use,or you're *gimp* and can't come along with the *pros*
i went 4 stats on novus, and ppl calling me gimp, with that (the joke's on them though, cause they spent millions of gil, for less than 1% increase in power)
