<3 Less than Zero!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
miqote stands for mancat
Guy in real life.
This post is too funny. lol
I play both Miqo'te (personal reasons. not to get hit on or leech gil like a lot of Manthras did in XI) And a Lalafell Male character.
I know alot of successful miqote that are dudes
A lot of guys generally pick a male class because they are picking something that would represent themselves in that game world even if they are not into RPing. Some guys just want to look at a girls ass instead of a guys all day long when they play. Personally I pick a character that I think would look awesome decked out in different types of gear and sometimes I roll with the least played race. Remembering back to FFXI Galka wasn't played near as much I rolled with a Roegadyn this time around. In WoW I have two female characters and on this game I have a Miqote DoL chick.
There is pretty much two main aproaches when people creat a MMO character.
Party A: I create my character to represent the ideal me, what I find most represents a ideal me. When I accomplish something in the game I accomplished it, I am my character.
Party B: I creat my character to represent my ideal character, what I find most interesting. When I acomplish something it's they who are sucsessfull due to my actions, my character is not me.
It's a main distinction to wether people play their avatar as themselves or just a proxy to play the game. Those who feel like their avatar is pretty much themselves will tend to create characters of the same gender / physical appearance or based on their ideal physical condition. While the latter treat their avatar as just that, a tool to play the game with. The avatar is a seperate entity to them and not a extension of themselves in the online world, so they choose to pick it by what is asthetically pleasing to them including different genders.
Nothing strange or creepy about it. Some people just don't conform to everyone elses silly ideals and have their own....who woulda thunk it. By the way I fall into Party A.
A guy using a female character, and vice versa, is still strange and creepy to me :-/
Even when you try putting logic to it, with your Party A, B speech.
I just can't help but shudder every time a "female character" finally reveals that "she's" a "he", after weeks of thinking otherwise >.<
I could care less I'm not having sex with you no matter what you are so it doesn't effect me to consider you male or female.
I always just assume that the char is the gender until proven otherwise and i'm not asking them either because it doesn't effect me anyway men and women can do the same in game. Don't care.
Who cares what sex you are in a videogame... it's NOT REAL for Christ's sake, if the player's good and it's fun to be with, why do you care if he/she plays a different sex in a game?
You could be an asexual blob of green mass in the game and I wouldn't care, all that matters to me is that I have fun playing with you in the game.
I choosed Miqo'te as my race, because I like the character design and never played a cat race before and I don't really like the other races.
As for the relationship thing... well, how about... NOT trying to hit every girl character you see and just enjoy the game? If you want to be in a relationship so bad, man up and look for a girl outside.
Solution: Consider everyone a male until evidence shows otherwise. That or just don't worry about the "Person" behind the screen. I generally take characters at face value until I know otherwise female characters are female. It's not like I'm trying to hit on them so the gender really doesn't phase me either way.
I guess it's different values I guess. I just don't get how someone is "Creeped" out by the fact someone prefers to play a female character instead of a male one, now if they are trying to "Trick" you then thats another issue all-together. Them be trolls.
Two different examples: 1)My roommate is an African-American Male. He rolls as a Caucasian (or light skinned) Female in every MMO he plays. He also uses Ventrilo for guild activities and his deep voice is undeniably masculine. He does not pretend to be anything but himself. 2)I have played with a Female Mithra on another linkshell who refuses to use Ventrilo or Skype or any voice software, even when other guild members offered to purchase it for "her". This person also refuses to show any pictures. This person also uses their in-game femininity to get drops/loot first because ladies first.
1) is called in-game Role-Playing 2) is called manipulative and mental
i know a female who plays a male in game just so she dont get hit on. Also i like to know the sex of the players i play with often just so i can say he or she without offending them. a little off topic but whatever.
oh, and i know someone who worked as a gm for wow aad he handled claims all the time about "girls" ripping off dudes. example: "girl" was in an in game relationship with guy, girl says if you trust me let me hold all you money for a min and ill give it back. guy gives money, girl turns out to be guy and does not give money back. guy files claim, gm says you beat. so people should be careful of this type of manipulation.
I gotta admit I don't really have a lot of sympathy for Manthra victims. Maybe if you wouldn't be such a creep online you wouldn't have to worry about this problem?
at least they're going to implement man cats as an official race in the future.
IT'S A TRAP!
Or at the very least, not work safe. "Fat_guy_in_girl_underwear5.jpg" suggests it was a good idea I didn't click this.
Side note:
Never flirt online... Find hotties and turn them into gamer geeks.
Though I guess if it were that easy for everyone, we wouldn't have topics like this in the first place... My lady plays WoW and squeals over Avenger plushies, I got lucky.
Everyone knows furries and cat fetishists play miqote/mithra (any other race with animalistic features)
Like, I'm totally an elezen (no lie):

I was young and foolish. I had to learn the hard way. Best advice I can give you is force your brain to assume all Mith'qote are men. Don't let your eyes fool you. It's a very awkward feeling; it makes you feel hot and bothered, and I mean that in a bad way. Your heart and body wants to think that the Mi'qote is a real life woman, but you must use your brain and wisdom to be mindful that "she" could be a man.
This is why I'm always an ugly character (well... Roegadyn aren't ugly, but the "girls" always run away from me out of fear), so I don't have to worry about this online romance stuff.
A nice ass is a nice ass. Who cares if it is a couple pixels put together to resemble something that is real. Most guys have imaginations, I didn't say it was fap material or anything but it is a simple truth for many players. Girls may see things differently but guys got two heads and usually think with the smaller one and that is the simple truth. You can say a guy has problems for that but I on the other hand says he has an influx of raging hormones and sh!t happens. Doesn't change the fact that is it the truth of the matter for several people. The term Eye Candy fits perfectly, something that is there that you cannot physically touch but you can oggle over it all you want.
M.M.O.R.P.G
Many. Men. Online. Role. Playing. Girls.
The end.
I hate guys that play female characters to just screw over other males, give the people like me who just enjoy playing female characters a bad name.
Haha...whose asking for sympathy? :p Not me cause I don't care. As I stated in my first post here; I play the character I do for personal reasons in tribute to someone who played XI for more than 6 years and died last year. She would have loved XIV. And that's all I have to say about that.
What would you do if you found out the she character was being played by a he who in RL wants to be a she and plays a she character based off of Jynx's well written "speech" as you called it and fell into catagory A? O.o
And no....it's not me LOL Friend of mine and former epic Rng in XI since launch.
Hah, you do kind of resemble your character.
Being black, I found it surprisingly difficult to get actual "African" elements into the look of my character... most of the features are subtly European and such -- it was kind of disheartening, I really wanted my character to look as much like me as possible.
Well for me playing a female character indeed is creepy. Nothing against for those the play then its just that I don't see myself playing with dolls ..lol
I agree. I made one once and couldn't bring myself to play it, despite how cool she looked. I like my characters to resemble me -- for me, that kind of brings home the role-play element. I'm not down on myself (not saying anyone who role-plays distinctly different looking characters is), and if I'm going to imagine myself as a character, I want that character to be like a more badass version of me -- which really doesn't require I look any different.
Even my DnD character's tend to be "black" or tribal -- except for my Eladrin, who, due to the nature of the race, can't really look anything like me, haha... Then there's my changling, but he's based on Son Wukong.
The two subsects can't obviously cover everyone in the world. There are obviously a few people out there who feel they are "Trapped" as the wrong gender and playing as the oposite gender is the perfect way for them to express themselves.
Although the chances of these type of people revealing that fact to someone who they don't know well enough for that to be a normal conversation topic would be fairly rare I'd say. I'm sure there are a few "manthras" who are gender confused in that sense. Thats a whole different beast alltogether and then it turns into what you feel is morally correct.
Personally all the power to them. MMO's are an escape from reality, let them live on the game how they want to live.
Who and why the hell was this bumped?
I cast my vote, nothings cooler than rolling a historic or mythos based character or icon. =DQuote:

edit-- lol bumped again
