AAR is a brand new game FF14 1.23 wasn't and it was completely scrapped.

There are two schools of thought on this.
If I agree with you- then you must agree with me- They created this new game very quickly... a year or so.. and so there is really no reason why we haven't seen more development in 4 months. It only took a year to create the game!
Completely ignoring most of the game and ONLY looking at instances... we shouldbe getting at LEAST 1 a month or so- new not rehashed, based on the previous speed of development.
Yeah... why we no have no moar content if they can like... create a whole instanced world in 12 months, but can't add more than 1 new (ok we can say 2 and a half) new instances over 4 monhts! QQ
Need moar content to nom nom pac man style nom through!
Meh... We all know they did not create it from 0 and reused a lot. And it was ongoing for more than 1 year, right?
That was the point of my original post- they recoded a pre-existing game... so it isn't really a brand new game- it's a new implementation of a 3 year old game.
I am not sure what you are talking about eating through content. I am incredibly casual. I play maybe once or twice a week, if I even play. I go some weeks without logging in. There is just so little to do at end game here, that I can get my timers on Monday and not log in for a week. I don't grind tomes- I am casual and don't want to spend my free time running mindless dungeons over and over.
So if it's brand new- they should be putting stuff out faster based on history. If it's a three year game, then stop with the "the game just came out junk". -Just stop making excuses in general. Excuses admit that there is a problem and try to justify it- but it doesn't deny the problem. Stop telling people why it's okay that end game is bad.
Easy there...I work 8:30-5:00 Monday-Friday and I cap every week.
...I can't believe you just said that. You couldn't be farther from the truth. That would 100% be abuse of the vote kick system. And completely punishable. That is NOT what it is there for. It is there for 4 reasons outlined when you start the vote kick: Harassment, AFK, Offline, and one other thing I can't remember off the top of my head...which is certainly not "kick the new / trash player so that I can find a good one and get what 'I' need because this is about me." If you vote kick anyone wrongly...all they have to do is report you.
Read Hvinire's post on this.
Yeah.. hitting cap by grinding mindless dungeons isn't hardcore. At all.
People are really scraping the bottom of the barrel for excuses to claim to be hardcore nowadays...
^ To the post above - don't waste your time
1. They don't seem to work
2. They think tomes are hardcore... or that hardcore gamer is a good thing
3. They call other players trash
*They are a kid. Stop wasting time arguing with an online kid.
You could be right about needing more than 1 MMO. I'll give you that. But the rest of the stuff is hardly content.
Again, back to original point - those 2 raids you mentioned are on cooldown lockdown.
The only thing that really qualifies as a raid is CT, be it a mind numbingly easy raid.
Coil is as tiny but less easy.
Does it really matter? I mean if they removed the cap most of us would be out of crap to do in a few weeks anyway. There needs to be more to do period and the problem with that is there isn't much reward beyond myth items a couple items in coil(few more depending on class) and absolutely nothing from the new content.
Raids can not get all their members to show up on time or at all and that is because there is almost no incentive to raid except to gear up alts and lets face it after a couple classes are geared the rest is about as useful as FC housing.
You're wrong, and you'd realize that if you played 1.x
2.0 is a brand new game, all the mechanics are new, land scape, everything... come on. And new games need to be maintained, not just have half-baked 'content' stuffed in to please people who do a dungeon once and say 'DONE! Oh there's no more to do? NO CONTENT!'
I absolutely do not want that OP's recommended change to coil drops. Just putting in that 2 cents.
I don't think he was saying 1800 per week. He was responding to my comment of being able to accrue a backlog, similar to leves (you gain 6 a day, but can store up to 100), where you still have a 450 Myth Tome cap per week, but if you miss one week (i.e. Holidays anyone?) you can come back and make up for it, within reason. So, 1800 would be 4 weeks worth of backlog, essentially. Maybe this is too much, maybe it's only one week of backlog, or two weeks, but the point stands there is no reason they can't add a system where you can take a break for life (yes, even a week, sometimes people do vacations, etc.) and have "lost" them, within reason.
As for dailies, you would still accrue 6 dailies per day, up to some number (so a week would be 42, two weeks would be 84). They could then either implement a system where it knows how many of each tier/rep you've done so you could make up 1:1 what you missed (i.e. if I missed 3 days at second tier rep, I could, on the 4th day, do 4*3 = 12 of that daily quest) or still limit you to only 3 per rep per tier. It wouldn't be as efficient, but then over time you could work down your balance doing any of the rep quests (so after four days you'd have 24 total daily quests, only able to do 3 per tier per rep, but one the 4th day you could do 3 tier 1/3 tier 2 for each rep and over a few days work your way down). Either way is better than straight up losing out on them just because you didn't play every day.
They've done a great job so far. They've been so quiet lately. Why? Because they're hard at work pushing out 2.2 for you. It's not that they should be "developing faster" at all..because again, your post is uneducated. We're getting major patches every other month. Which is just fine.
And yes it is FALSE. Because it's been said countless times that the game should be treated as "NEW" because it's all been built from the ground up. Yes some character models and animations are the same. But that all accounts for maybe 5% of the game where the rest is all completely new.
Don't say "you" like I'm the one that "wasted your time."
It doesn't matter how you VIEW it. That isn't harassment. And regardless of what you think of it, It's still a punishable act. It's an MMO and it's not all about YOU.
You are the epitome of why Yoshi-P & team were hesitant to have a kick feature to begin with. Because they knew it'd be abused.
Well, I certainly view it as new... not everyone agrees and with the amount of reused assets, it's an understandable argument.
There is no true or false. You can "view" it however you want, but all that matters is how they continue to support it. Personally, I think the original- or what will come to be known possibly as "classic" content is way to small/limited. The developments I have seen do not seem to really be expanding the world much. It seems like more linear development- that actually seems to erode previous development.
It seems difficult to expand the world with this incredibly linear style... it seems as though the more they create, the more they erode what was out before... so they never really get anywhere...
I think this Sunday was the first day where I've really felt like I accomplished nearly everything I could within a week. Myth capped, T1-4 down, got my first Primal Ex weapon, CT loot obtained, dailies completed everyday. The only possible thing endgame wise I could have accomplished yesterday was putting some attempts towards T5, but that's hard to do in a PUG at the end of the week. Either that, or "farming" Primal Ex accessories.
The myth cap is ok as it is I feel. The best gear in the game needs to be doled out at a pace where people are still working for something until the next tier of ilvl gear comes out. The only thing I'm really irked about is the limits on CT gear. I want the ability to gear all of my chars in i80 so that I have the flexibility to do Coil on any class I so choose. If my group needs something else I'm screwed because my BLM is the only thing geared sufficiently enough to get through T4.
I'm predicting that the limits on CT might be relaxed in the next patch. Same on myth gear if they come out with a new tier of gear, which should happen with the new turns of BC. There'd be little point apart from doing the story if it's just going to drop more i90 gear. I expect it should drop at least i95-i100.
There kind of is a true or false because the game being "completely new" is something the FFXIV team has said themselves lol. That wasn't my opinion. That's what it is.
And there's plenty content for the beginning. Geez you should have seen 1.0 if you think this is nothing.
And idk if you were an XI player, but there was very few content in the beginning of XI, and only 6 jobs to start with. That's less than what XIV:ARR has to start with. Look at it now. 20+ Jobs, 3.5 continents (I say .5 because in Wings of the Goddess you can go back in time and revisit original areas in a different time/light/etc) And it's just thriving and overflowing with content. Later down the road XIV will be so different.
EDIT: just saw your post saying you played 1.0. lol
Oh and while I'm at it, development of ARR started from early 2011. It was longer than a year development.
Keep in mind, this will be completely subjective.
These are activities I enjoy and perform weekly, this may not necessarily be what you enjoy.
I see you haven't touched any DoL and hardly touched the DoH classes.
Have you considered taking those up?
Personally I rather enjoy doing those as in between activities, I can still chat with the linkshell and make a little cash on the side.
Apart from that, I'm not sure how social you are but I do tend to enjoy a random act of kindness once in a while and open up the partyfinder to see if someone needs some help with anything.
Other then that, just do or set up some random thing with the FC, like treasure hunting. (We're doing that as a fundraiser for the house right now, but it's a fun get together.)
I'm pretty sure I don't have to name the Primals etc, as you already have those on farming status.
And sure, I too get bored occasionally. But there's no shame in shutting the game down and doing something else.
There must be plenty things I haven't named, but it is also very possible that the only thing you enjoy is endgame/group events.
In that case, either a second MMO might be an option, or perhaps another with more content than this one.
Just a few suggestions.
I'm pretty sure, especially in your case, abolishing the limits would work very countereffective as you'd probably finish this game in a week. Or less.
FF11 (original Japan release) 1 raid dynamis / DCUO 1 raid on launch/ Rift 1 20man 1 10man(after 1st update)/ FF14 0/ SWTOR 1 / GW2 0/ Marvel heros 1 the list goes on....
p.s. all these raids were gated all but FF11 had weekly lock outs like AAR. FF11 had a 72 hr lock out.
Actually. upon release WoW only had 1 raid zone, and that was what? BWL? Or was it UBRS? I forget, but from a friend who did play it at release, it wasn't exactly pretty, and it took them a fair bit of time to truly get their shit together.
People just expect new games to have as much content at release as older games currently do.
Are you offended by me using "you" because you have been kicked for failing?
It is about ME. I pay just like everyone else so I will play the way I want to. So if you join MY Party Finder when it says know the fight and you don't know it, even after we try to teach you, then you are harassing my party.
LBRS. UBRS. Strat. Scholo.
Not the same caliber of raid that came later, but we definitely raided all of those zones for our stupid armor sets.... so much farming....
I don't expect the game to have the same amount as older games... I expect a decent amount, since there were legacy level 50 characters on day 1.
Strath and Scholo were 5 mans, so, more or less like AK and WP were for us at the start.
LBRS/UBRS, ok yes, it's technically 2 instances, but then, you could argue that CM/Prae fill the places of those, and Coil is further along than that.
I agree with the op partially, the cap is ok, but they could have a separate myth cap for every class, so if you're hardcore and play several classes you can farm myth for all the jobs/classes that you use, without being able to use those in other gear than the one that is for your current class/job equipped, so in a few words the myth currency would change when you change class and you would be locked to only buy the gear that you can use with that class or have a list of jobs/classes and their current myth and buy gear according to the points you have with certain class.
That would alleviate any current issue...
For ppl kept whining about having too much free time and not enough content...
Do you guys know there something called REAL life?
The no life argument doesn't work when you play an MMO
For some this is their hobby
What about people that don't have tons of free time and complain about QUALITY of content (aka mindlessly repeating the same dungeons = endgame)?? I'm not wasting my little bit of free time on that. That's not fun... that's why I sometimes play after reset and logout for the week. I don't want to run the same 5 mans grinding tomes....talk about get a life...
