If summoners are the downfall of your party, then adapt meaning kill/disable their @ss. Peeling is one option. Sleeping is another. Killing is best. While having your healer take care of the summoners victim is another. There are pleeenty of ways to get things done right when your against a summoner.

I beat plenty of summoners, actually. The halfway decent and geared ones are basically untouchable though. There's not really much you can adapt to. They're just straight stronger than you. 2SMN or SMN/BLM beats basically everything, no matter what you do.
Sure, killing is best, but they just kill you faster and better if they know what they're doing.
Everything you mentioned is far easier for a summoner to adapt to and beat than it is for someone to adapt to a summoner outright killing them.

The condescending attitude and constant child remarks are hilarious, by the way. The coolest in school.

I mostly think it's funny when people defend the class, or that they're pretty much clueless. That's probably how most people see the ones defending the class.

You would think, but not really. If it was so easy, SMN/BLM wouldn't be far and away the best comp, or SMN/anything, really. If it's so easy, SMN doing things to counteract it is even easier, considering their strength.
Sure, there's strategies to try and handle them, but they don't work that well, and it's far easier for the summoner to change up his play and crush you.

Because having someone in your party looking at the enemy team composition then deciding ill get the summoners attention and possibly the whole enemy team pt on me just so they can pulverize the ILvL90 PvP SMN then sweep the rest is clearly not gonna work. With all the utilities I have at my disposal, I'd like to see this happen when my pt knows what their doing.

When you mouse over skills in game, tooltips pop up.
They showed up because you're clicking.

How does keyboard turning and clicking prove anything?

Clicking is not good. It's far slower than keybinds, which isn't as big of a deal in this game as it has a long GCD, but it's still inefficient and slow.

Keyboard turning and backpedaling is the same.
You shouldn't run around saying "people who complain about summoners are just baddies" when you've made it pretty apparent that you don't know basic PvP strategies like that.
No wonder you mentioned not being able to cast on people who run around you.

So, I suppose it proves that your attitude of "everybody sucks" is pretty funny, coming from someone who does both of those things.

OMG! 25k dmg within 1 min! that's like more than 400dmg/s average , most class would be dead within 13 seconds without heals! 25k dmg out of a total of 34k damage! he/she was doing 74.79% of the party's damage!

I think SquareEnix have either poor game testers for them to miss this fact or poor judgment if they knew about this and went along with it.

If this is accurate it's almost pointless using other dps class for pvp.. you don't have the armor to take hit and your damage is shit compared to 25k/min. The blm was doing 4143 dmg (12.16%) that is not even 1/4 the dmg that SMN was making!


shit at this rate maybe 4 SMN party can do a dungeon having the pets tank each mob while focusing one 1 target at a time killing it fast, no need for other type of class/job!

I'm sure if healers knew how to actually CC/Heal and do dmg, this thread wouldn't even exist. The fact stands you fail to utilize your healer to help you do quack. If you expect us to only keep HP's up then ofc you wouldnt even last half a minute against a summoner. And just to be fair, I prefer going against a SMN/SMN versus any other variation. If folks learned to get Purity maybe all those dots wouldn't be such a issue. And Yes I know Purity has a hecka of a long CD. That's still not excuse to not get it, your wiping out all the "Bazlliions of op dots" and moar from one skill. Leave the rest to your healer to buff your party and debuff your enemies. I've yet to use a enhanced version of focalization with fey covenant (rather stacking or side by side) to troll SMN (or any magic class). Because Virus/SS/Leech is all I ever needed.

All I gotta say to the SMN's who think otherwise.

That's not really a decent point when anybody would die just as quickly, if not faster, when they had 3 people sitting on them and not being peeled (seriously your team had a BLM who was left alone, how does this even happen? Something should be dead or the whole team should be asleep)

The opposition is more at fault than the SMN for enabling damage that high. That damage is only possible under ideal circumstances and involves several individual fails, and likely also gear disparity.

I can tell you what happened this game with very little doubt. A summoner that significantly out geared most of the team was allowed to free cast (Fail 1), dropped 3 dots on one target and used contagion. That target did not trinket them off (Fail 2), but instead ran into 3 teammates (Fail 3) who were all bunched up (Fail 4), and the SMN proceeded to Bane. The SMN then followed up hitting 3+ people with Burst, Wither, and possibly even Rouse/Spur Enkindle, then closed it out with Fester, ED, etc.

SMN are too strong, but it's hard to tell how much of the crying is due to not knowing how to contain them or prevent these extreme damage scenarios.

I tell you what happened. The other team chased the BLM to the moon and allowed the SMN to YOLO cast that is what happened. And when the enemy SCH runs in to Miasma 2 slow the BLM he eats Bane along with the Warrior (Seriously who still plays warrior) and Monk followed by Aetheric Burst + Garuda Enkindle.

monks can also remove opponent buffs? If u remove aetherflow u can cut loads of damage/heal from the arcanist? I have never seen anybody do that but any1 tried 2 do that?

you missing the whole point,

Going up against an opposition that is failing or not, given the same condition or even easier ( i.e. a bunch of players acting as test dummies that are standing close to one another and doing nothing), I doubt any other dps can do half that damage within 2 min..

1 smn can be contained which stunning and sleeping, but what you going to do if you get 2 smn in the opposition, with no sleeper in your team and the tank as the only one who can stun??

with that kind of damage output, i expect to see more SMN and less of other in the feature and the game will start to lack verity of classes in the pvp arena.

if SE is going to do something about it, trust me, it's not going to be in the near feature so pop out your Arcanist boys and girls and start leveling.

That picture, while amusing, is not evidence that SMN is overpowered. The damage potential in an ideal situation is not evidence that a class is overpowered. That is the point. Imagine if BLM had a spell that did 50k damage to the whole team, but it had a 1 minute cast time. I would not consider the BLM, then, to be overpowered because he can theoretically do 50k damage in one minute.

SMN damage can be contained with direct damage pressure (whether from melee, BRD, or even instant spells), trinketing of dots, and SPREADING OUT. Stuns and sleeps are helpful, but not necessary.

Patch notes up. Get wrecked, SMNs.

good point, I do see it fit if you grind hard to create the perfect opportunity it should bare more fruitful results. but let me remind you that a DRG, MNK, BLM or BRD won't do such damage in their ideal situation, maybe if a DRG or MNK LBs on a few bar then they might do more than half of that SMN's damage.

here is an SMN who decided to measure his and his party dps (note some dps had relic+1) while doing Garuda HM fight. The SMN did a dmg overall of 157,306 the runner up was the DRG that did 72,928 dmg, rest of the dps were around 50k, the video speaks for itself where SMN rank among the other dps

Your dmg can be healed through now, you can't party with another smn (or a blm or brd, for that matter) they took away your heavy, you can't sprint or jump away from melee now, and they took away your res. Pretty sure you did.

My damage still cannot be healed through, I havent partied a non MNK dps in 3 weeks, heavy and sprint don't matter because I melee range kill people, I never jumped, and now my enemies can't rez as much. IT'S CHRISTMAS FOR ME!

SMN was technically nerfed, but I'm not sure if it's honestly going to make any difference. I will play before I complain, but SMN were LOLing about globaling people in 2.1... and there were no damage adjustments :(

Just healed a wayward band of noobs in a mixture of unmelded pve / crafted wolf gear against a Rank 30 SMN... I won't mention his name.. but the fight lasted 2min.. and one of the wayward noobs was able to get a kill! we still lost.. but I must say, last patch that would have lasted all but 15 sec

Higher burst output paired with a healing debuff makes it a naturally superior class for PvP. Regardless of nerfs, they are still, by default - the ranged class I would want to roll with. Not complaining here though.

I have noticed that a good healer is able to, if left alone, heal through my burst especially if solo and the melee dps is derping around on a different target. I would think that a melee+smn would still global someone no matter the debuff tho, i dunno i haven't really had much time to test since soloQ too strong right now, i just wish the Q time wasnt 15mins :(
