FFXIV bundled with a HCSD card, or use of a USB HDD, and problem solved
Okay to clarify:
WiiU =/= Wii (because there are a bunch of people getting confused)
The ipad looking device is a CONTROLLER not the console, the console (WiiU) is between the size of the xbox360 and the ORIGINAL WII
The footage with the bird flying through the garden was taken from EITHER the PS3 OR the Xbox360 (Nintendo would NOT disclose which of the two systems it was from, 2ndly they DID NOT try to sell it as their own; rewatch the video and listen to the actual words they say (what it CAN do and not what it IS DOING))
It uses Bluray-like discs but since the name is copyright they are calling it an "optimized DVD disc" or whatnot, its the same damn thing
Developers have already said that the unit is ON PAR with PS3/Xbox360 systems (So stop saying it won't be able to handle something that is coming to either of these systems)
Nintendo's stock has been at a low for around a year, since there was no more need for a Wii (everyone and their mother already owns/ed one) and being so their stock has dropped, it is nothing to worry about, in fact I would encourage getting stock in Nintendo if you play the market, because at the release of a console the stocks usually skyrocket for a couple months
The only official specs that have been released to my knowledge (unless something was released OFFICIALLY by Nintendo while I was at work) are that the game discs will be able to hold 25GB of data (Xbox 360's discs are roughly 7-8GB disc sizes, so its more on par to a BluRay) and it will have 8GB of flash memory (Which we don't know if this is going to be the HDD or just a place for save games; as flash memory has become quite popular for doing just this in consoles)
Finally, do your research before you hate or like, that is my personal objectification.
Dubont, like I said, there are no specifics on the specs, but according to RUMORS:
The GPU will be running on something from the ATI 700 series chipsets meaning this:
It will use GDDR5 RAM (already more powerful that PS3) and will be 512MB instead of the 256 on the PS3 (and the major problem with the port to the PS3 (with this game) was the RAM wasn't strong enough
Its already announced that it will be a multicore processor, but if you know anything about consoles the bulk of the work happens on the GPU, it will be more than likely a 6-8 core processor just like the PS3 (infact the PS3 while having an 8 core proceesor only uses 6 to run games, one is completely locked out and the other runs the system stuff)
As I am sure you will just take this all with a grain of salt and not really take any of it in, but there it is for you, take what you will.
Considering all of your info on the new system is based off of rumors, of course I'm going to take it with a grain of salt. Also, years of Nintendo always having inferior hardware just gives more of a reason to doubt that their new system will be anywhere near as powerful as even a $1000 Macbook
Wii:U does not need 8 cores to have graphics on par with PS3..... as much as some dont want to accept, the 360 and PS3 look almost the same, and so will the Wii:U
I own all 3 systems and both handhelds, I can say myself using the same TV (46 LCD btw) games that are on both PS3 and 360, look the same, first party titles look better, but that can be said for both systems.
The PS3 is known for its inability to use its own hardware. While it may have 8 cores, it can't utilize them all at once.
This is why it's not hard to out do the PS3 with less than 8 cores.
I agree, and tried to point that out politely, but it seems that some people just cannot get the true facts.
games that are ported to the PS3 will naturally look the same on the 360 because the it's a port. Like you said, first party games look better, yes, of course, but the only reason shared games look the same is because most are ports to the PS3 instead of ports to the 360.
1 is deactivated automatically. It has 1 ppe (power processing element) and 6 SPE (Synergistic Processing Elements). So yes, it uses every core available to it when the game programmers decide to make it so (Uncharted 2 for example)
YEAH! Nintendo can do no wrong, guys!
Except Virtual Boy. And making the N64 cartridge-based when everyone else was switching to disc-based media. And creating their own worst enemy in the PlayStation. And the botched deal with Philips. And the 64DD. And creating an underpowered console that needs a replacement further down the road to get up to par with current generation hardware. And having no real online solution on said underpowered console. And friend codes. And using footage from other consoles to try (and fail) to indicate what their console will be capable of in the future.
NO WRONG!
nintendo gave no number about there hardware but like always the next system is always stronger than the last generation.
and nintendo said this time gameplay isnt enough, so there gonna put more in the hardware.
Good god the Virtual Boy.... my eyes..... for the love of god my eyes........
*cough* anyway, no company is perfect, but Nintendo is the best at turning poop into gold ;p
What keeps me coming back to Nintendo systems are the games I grew up with (yeah I know corny) If I could not play a Mario/Zelda/Metroid game every system I would die as a gamer inside. I have to place Super Smash Bros. in that list now as well, because since the N64 version, is has been one of my favorite fighters.
Alot of the hate people give for Nintendo is normally based off miss information and bias reviews. I know a few people that say the Wii is the stupidest thing ever, they never have even picked up a Wiimote, then they go back to playing their Halo or Call of Duty.... makes me sad really.
I would say that they're not that far off. I own a Wii, and while I think it's okay, it's not the incredibly awesome revolutionary gaming machine people think it is. The best games on it are mostly first-party titles, and even then the motion control elements tend to be clunky. As for third-party games, it's even worse (FUCK YOU, SKELETON PIRATES FROM ZACK & WIKI! FUCK, FUCK, FUCK YOU!).
The only reason Nintendo is going with this new iPad-style controller is that it's the only way to appease traditional gamers (and developers) who want traditional controls AND remain as the company that tries quirky new gimmicks.
I thought the Nintendo Press event was pretty good, but at the same time i am totally and completely pissed there is 0 news on 4 currently JP only titles. Earth Seeker, Pandora's Tower, Xenoblade, and of course The Last Story. I cannot imagine what the hell they are thinking and I hate how Nintendo always handles the ending phase of their consoles and handhelds.
You really love to exaggerate everything i effin say..
Nintendo isn't perfect, but they do not turn something that seems awesome into something that sucks shit. (Ex. Kinect, XBOX360)
Another thing is that Nintendo actually uses their goddamn imaginations/brains and develop new ways to play games, and not the same lackluster Controller and TV. Graphics are not the most important part of gaming, and that's the mistake these producers have a hard time realizing.
LOL @ you saying it already failed at delivering. In fact, I'm just about ready to believe you are a 360/Sony fanboy. The fact of the matter is, it doesn't really matter wtf footage they used on the Wii U. If they can't deliver on that, then yes, they have failed, and it wouldn't be the first time. Heaven forbid Nintendo try to find new ways to play games.
ok... I'm seeing people talking about Nintendo showing PS3 and or Xbox360 footage. This is fairly common practice and happens quite a lot.
For Instance Sony used Project Gotham Pictures when promoting the PS3
http://kotaku.com/231619/sony-uses-pgr3-to-promote-ps3
Square Enix used super imposed Xbox 360 buttons on PS3 FFXIII Images for promotion.
http://zapp5.staticworld.net/news/gr...d_original.jpg
And Probably the best current example is all Battlefield 3 videos, demos and promotions are all PC footage, Nothing from either console has been shown.
You have this wicked vein throbbing in your forehead. Did you know that?
[lucas]I love the Power Glove. It's so bad.[/lucas]Quote:

Sure, experimentation is good. The motion control gimmick of the Wii brought some new and interesting ways to play games. I'd also say that it was a bit sketchy at times though; motions that require absolute precision to execute, or motions that were awkward or demonstrated poorly come to mind. Early games tended to suffer more than later ones though, but I guess that comes with the territory. On the other hand, how hard would it have been to create a traditional controller with the same motion controls in it? I'd say "not very", considering that's what Sony's Sixaxis controller was.Quote:

I'll admit that the tablet controller is probably a great idea, as I think it'll be useful for implementing interface elements and the like. Hopefully it's not as awkward to hold as it looks.
Sorry, I'm part of the glorious PC gaming master race. KB&M for life, yo. :3Quote:

to be far, your last one is not true, they did show PS3/360 vidoes, they where on the other smaller screens, it was just that they looked so much like the PC version a lot did not realize.
I am sure it will be fine, just a new controller to get used to, not like we had to do that before right? ;p
That and I see this controller feeling more comfortable when playing Mario Kart, then the Wiimote was.
Well, if they are bright they simply drop the PS3 port and move right to the WII U.
PS3 limitations problem (textures, zone sizes) solved.
Everyone's happy.
They can't do that. The PS3 version is basically finished. They are only holding it off because the game is not in good condition yet. There's still too much to fix and if they were to release the game now it would only be rated 5/10. That would kill their sales along with any hope of the PS3 release saving this game.
I think that if they really want to succeed, they should have FFXIV on as many platforms as possible. PC, PS3. 360, MAC and WII U.
SE already stated that they want it on the 360 but MS won't let it happen because of XBL Policies. Yes they allowed FFXI on 360 but that was because they were desperate to get JP dev support since then they have changed their policy and SE would have to jump through to many hoops to get FFXIV on it.
hmm, well its strange that all the news people are linking that video (with the bird) when they wrote about the whole using another system's graphics thing. (?_?; )
Anyone think it would be nice to see the world map on the controller's screen? It would get rid of the need to check your map from time to time to check if your in the right direction. All the menus could be displayed there too, with tabs separating the different menus.
One thing i don't like with FFXIV is that you can only see once action bar. you need to scroll between action bar to find your abilities and that is annoying for me. With the new WII U controller you could see all of your action bars at the same time and re-arrange them quickly with the touch screen.
so fking biiiiiigggggggggg
ftfy ;PQuote:

Nice find there Onidemon, this is good news indeed! :D
Jesus guys, I'd like FFXIV on the PC first...
Attended E3 this year and had hands on time with the WiiU.
I can definitely see it working with the new controller since it has enough buttons to support gamepad functionality. It can still play the game normally on the TV while the controller touch screen can be used for maps, macros, touch activated actions, touch keyboard, clearing widgets off the TV and onto the controller touch screen itself, etc. If the TV is in use it can optionally be played on the controller screen itself too. It is completely practical.
Although yes, I largely agree the PC platform is a priority before moving onto other platforms.
