Bump for the starving fetus of Eorzea.
bump for great justice!
No, it's not that you can't afford a small house. It's that you don't want to afford it. You want SE to just give you one for no effort, instead of actually earning it. WoW generation and such.
Good thing it's a JP company and you're playing on the internet there guy.
That might be the case for some, but I'm noticing more people that have been working/saving for it pretty much since launch. It's not that THEY don't want to afford it, it's the amount of time that would pass before they could. That is where most of the frustration is coming from on this subject.
Stop trolling. You did the same thing on the SMN thread and you're doing it here. You're only trolling and trying to derail the conversation.
See here. The Japaneses are also complaining about this:

I think the prices are a bit high, but I also think it was foolish that people thought they were going to have a house Day 1. This has been touted from the start to be a pretty big investment, so much that they didn't just throw out a number early on.
I am in full support in the statements of the author of this post. And I think something really should be done regarding said prices prior to launch of 2.1 or at least before the turn of the new year.
I wrote an Email to Phil Rogers : philrogers@square-enix.com
I suggest you guys that agree with the OP do the same. I did add a link to the op in that email and added my own two cents about it. Basically I think the prices are too high. Phil Rogers is the NA CEO Of SE. Hope he listens.
It's absolutely legal. This is a game. Your subscription only gives you access to the game. It doesn't guarantee that your experience will be the same as everyone else's - and they even tell you that in the user agreement. SE can do whatever they want with and to your character, and they don't have to give you a fair shake in the game. They can also terminate your account at any time, and you agreed to all of this when you accepted the Terms of Use.
wait a minute a forum post on here that is actually thought out and not a complete rant? where am i cause this isn't the forum i know.....
seriously though even though im a cold-hearted titan-selling merc (lol) i agree with this.....because this will create tons of competition and i don't like the idea of that......
Looking at the numbers given in the notes, 100 people -could- work together for a small or medium property without any one person being under too much strain, but let's face it... What's the percentage of Free Companies with 100 members total, much less 100 active members willing and able to contribute? Bring that number down to 50 and you'll still need up to 1.000.000 Gil per person for just a small empty lot. It's doable if everyone is farming leves and FATEs and every other repeatable means of earning Gil, but that can still be at a month of mind numbing grind as a group.
It honestly feels as if the numbers were pulled from the top which included the automated Gil farmers. They definitely won't be buying land, and they wouldn't be in the RMT business if they didn't have plenty of disposable accounts in case trades are traced back to them. They'll just have a booming business of people who want a place to call home in three months while still being unable to afford it on their own.
Christmas ruined!
Add me to the list of people who just had christmas ruined. :(
A friend and I made a little FC just for us and all we wanted, and have been saving for since we can remember, was a small house. We didnt want a big one, or a fancy one. But now we're hosed and at our current rate it'll take 4-5 years. And even then I'd refuse to buy simply because these prices aren't sane. Same old SE... "One step forwards, two steps backwards" still fits.
This thread needs to be on top of the forums about right now, but I don't know if the japanese devs will look into it, or we'll need to wait do the US reps to see it in another 18h or so.
Anyway, up it goes!
Thank you for your support Reinheart. We will be shouting on our worlds too!
I'm wondering if the housing is so expensive because
a) they don't want too many people bogging down the housing server at once so they made it ridiculous and unobtainable for testing purposes
b) they want to easily catch RMTers
c) once personal housing comes in, they will have used the FC housing as a test and will perhaps adjust the pricing?
I'll just pretend that housing is still in "testing stage" for now and focus on other aspects of 2.1
This seems to be a huge problem among most MMOs - generate a ton of hype around an awesome new patch with fun features and then find some way to crush the vast majority of peoples' expectations. Why should we expect XIV to break that mold? :P
I am going to voice my support of this matter too. The pricing for housing has utterly APPALED me in every way imaginable. To say that the prices are astronomical would be a severe understatement. I do agree with the notion of reducing the prices by a factor of 10 as this would make the prices appear reasonable. I am also aware of the disparity between legacy and non-legacy and, whilst I understand the disparity may be necessary in the eyes of SE, I do NOT agree with it solely on the grounds that they are clearly considering only the wealthier 2%~ top of the community (most of which will probably be RMT's).
yep se it fucking up on this big time it no longer casual
No. It's that I can't afford it because I have a job which doesn't allow me to grid gold several hours a day. And many, many others have the same issue.
Mind you, if you actually read the OP, which obviously you didn't, you'd know I'm not part of the "WoW generation" (whatever that may be). I've most probably played MMORPGs a lot longer than you have, so you may want to drop the elitism. It's pretty ridiculous.
But it's nice to see that once your strawman argument has been exposed you resort to talking for others like you knew anything about them.
Housing in almost all MMORPGs out there has different tiers in order to allow players with different life and play styles to enjoy it at different price ranges, creating a higher level of engagement due to the feature. It's basic game design.
I think the idea most people have is that the people who buy the really expensive land may have bought gil off RMT so SE can track them through the huge movements of cash
Or the RMTs will buy the land using their excess gil, and on sell it to people who buy gil off them, meaning they get real money and some gil back
That's a naive way to see it to be honest. If anything, it actually muddles things, as housing prompts people to pool their gold and makes it disappear into their system. It's a very efficient money laundering system, despite the small threats included in the patch notes.
It'd also create enormous problems, as it's a fat chance for legally acquired gil to mix up with purchased gil, basically raising the chances for an illegal transaction to screw up people that have nothing to do with RMT.
SE really needs to rethink this. These prices are ridiculous.
Big houses prices are more or less OK, it's alright to have long term goals, but the entry point is way too high for small or familiar FC's like mine.
Up again!
I'm in full support of this. With these prices, obtaining a house would be hard work for even a hardcore FC that has everyone farming 100 hours a week. A video game house should in no way be several thousand times harder to obtain then a real world house.
Thinking further into it, if prices remain the same...
312.5mil on my server (and if you're saving up for large, why go for the '5th class' over '1st class'?!) - in 90 days that's 155mil. Three months for a Free Company with 78 active members to contribute 2mil each. Eminently reasonable? Attainable?
Well perhaps so, but from the individual's point of view, you're still not really experiencing the content. The decision on how the house looks, what it's made from and how it's decorated will necessarily fall to the FC leader and officers, with the majority of those 78 just being able to proffer suggestions.
So what do you get for your character's life savings when you join my FC? Um... I guess I'll concede that you can put that Morbol rug on the floor in that room there? It's gonna be a hard sell...
Oh COME ON people. *facepalms* You are acting like SE doesn't know what they are doing. They cut the gil from large gil owners (without proof of RMT) because they had a hell of a lot and wanted people to work for the stuff to keep people paying and playing. What good are you to them if you've done everything and ready to hop ship so early?
Why do you think they have myth caps.... why do you think they are imposing a one per week item gain for CT?
Are you people "really" that daft? Lol!
No no sir/miss. They know EXACTLY what they are doing to this extent.
yes, housing which i was looking for (as i would for anything new) has turned into a disappointment and something not achievable , ill look at one from inside on YOUTUBE , thats the only option i will get as a subscribtion paying customer , thanks SE
If they sliced a zero off, I can afford the biggest most expensive housing alone.
I'm surprised they didn't think of some kind of renting system to go alongside the lump sum purchase. What happens when an FC buys a lot and maybe a year or two from now the FC no longer exists or has barely any members around.
A renting system would re-open a lot if say... a FC bank didn't have enough gold in it by the time the next payment was due.
Seriously, a renting system of say 500k-5M a month for the fancier ones sounds better than a hundreds of Million lump sum of gold all lost in the blink of an eye.
I think that price problem wouldn't be such an issue If SE would give is the chance to farm actually stuff with our FC that we can sell... Aka sellable stuff in EG dungeons.... but since the RMT are controlling everything atm SE is to scared to offer us that...
Yoshi just stated on the stream that he thinks legacy players can afford the homes in 3 months if they farm content diligently.
That they will watch for a time and adjust accordingly at a later date if need be.
In before all hell breaks loose...
So they add content that BY DESIGN won't be accessible for three months. He also expects everyone to farm gil for this and this alone 24/7, forget all the other things gil is needed for as well not to mention farming gil is unlikely to be content most people want to do for progression.
How out of touch has that guy become?
