Let's bring back Campaign and NMs ^_^
Well they are adding roaming Primals, so that would be similar to HNM's. I think the biggest issue with FATEs isn't the system it self but how the community used it. Back in beta we where running around doing quest and did FATEs as they popped up. Naturally I assumed we would be grinding Guildleve and doing random FATEs as they spawned. Sadly the xp was just better to spam FATE.
Maybe the best goal for HNM FATE is have someway to set a player cap and level/igear cap. Perhaps add a barrier around the area so low level on looks can't enter the fray. I think we can all agree it's needs some work.
Bring back NMs.
Its the nature of the beast when you give content. If someone sees just a slight advantage in gaining levels, it will be used to death by the community until the development team do something about it. Fortunately, that is the case. While FATE EXP is not being touched, they are greatly increasing the amount of EXP you get from guildleves, quests, and dungeons. I think in the recent live letter he even said you will prefer dungeons over FATE. Lets see if that will be true or not.
The biggest problem with HNM FATE simply is the congestion of players. The idea is solid, but on a technical standpoint it is near broken currently. They just need to do some fixes on the technical side and it will work out wonderfully.
Fix the fact a lot of people can't see FATE's or Odin/Behemoth.
Roaming Primal's will be useless because 10000 people will be there...might as
well go on and make it an instance with a set amount of people....
Oh I was in since Alpha...Alpha 2010 and then the ARR Alpha ^^ All I can remember off the top of my head..is that huge NM thread. The dev response to it was kinda sad. It was like "we have FATE it is the replacement for NM" we were all like...wat? really? I remember it was really pathetic and did not even come close to addressing the issue at hand.
However I DO remember them saying they are considering adding roaming NM's "off the paths" or something odd it said. I remember it was in that LONG feed back list that took them like a week or so to translate..if that sounds familiar to you! People were getting excited and hopeful over that haha.
Welp...if they said anything that shot down content like sky, sea and the like...I don't remember that :(
And they can get their when they are ready to put in the effort to do so. not complain, "oh its too hard" and bish n moan for a easier game aka "Handout" The way the game is set up now with most content is everything is to easy to get and everyone has all the same stuff even in XI WoW and many other MMOs isn't as bad as it is in ARR.
You have no shot at putting more time into games than I have just saying.Quote:
LOL. I'm pretty sure I've spent more time raiding than you have playing any games at all. :) And, btw, I do agree that the raiding content is somewhat lackluster - primarily because it's nowhere near as difficult as hardmode raiding in WoW. But sure...I'm just weaksauce. *pats*
[/QUOTE]I haven't seen any "casual" players whining about the content. But I have seen you whining that there's nothing to do. You're also doing the hardcore raiding community a disservice because you are exactly the kind of elitist that people point to when they say that the hardcore community is ruining the game. QUOTE]
Well Casuals have been whining read more posts and you'll see it too. I don't care that there are casual players just saying that content should be a challenge for all and not handed to everyone because a select group "don't have the time or want to put the effort to do what needs to be done" hence there is a token system in the game because ppl whined getting stuff from a chest like in 1.0 was to hard. hence twintania tornado phase was nerfed because ppl cryed "too hard." I am Elite I like my content nice n hard so when I finaly beat it I can claim a prize that not everyone has or can get by running the same dungeon X amount of times.
If casuals can't progress even at a slower rate than the hardcore then the casuals will simply stop playing. If the casuals stop playing you end up maintaining a game that only caters to 4% of your playerbase. So your suggestion for Yoshi is to go back to 1.0 and have a game with 30,000 players. Sorry, that'd bankruipt SE. They want a game that's better than that.
I did not say time consuming means difficult, time sink is there so you dont end up with a flood in markets content and ppl getting bored to quickly and end up quitting your game before new content can be release. Its called a lvling curve n every game but this one has it. Any class can be done in a few days to cap. And I doubt anyone who play only an hour a day is better than I am hence the phrase "practice makes perfect" that statement was just dumb. And if you can only play an hour a day you really shouldn't be in the MMO community. Paying 10$-14$mnth for only 31 hours of content is dumb, your point is invalid there.
Really? Last I checked the leveling curve in wow is pretty damn quick. It also has more players than any other mmorpg. In fact, many modern mmorpgs have a short leveling curve. You know what happens when they don't? Game gets called a korean grinder and people stop playing. You should really see ESO online. It has a very long leveling curve. Guess what? Most people even in the beta are saying "I refuse to continue this beta. I can't stomach leveling any longer." They're saying this by level six. People want end game now. They don't want to spend years leveling up. I did EQ. I also did FF11. I'll never do that kind of level grind again. The number one complaint in Aion when it released was the level grind too btw and it wasn't even as long as EQ or FF11 just long compared to modern mmorpgs. They also reduced their level grind.
FFXI didnt cater to the needs of the whinging casuals and that game lasted more than a decade. Then when they did finally make things easier they broke the game and it died they had to cut servers merge others together. so dont give me that crap. I didn't say bring back 1.0 just some of the content and difficulty it had. If you played it towards the end, the content was challenging relic took some work to get, garuda wasnt a push over. ppl cried and they made it too easy now everyone has it. Had they left it alone it wud force ppl to play learn classes, made use of crafted weapons and gear. made a stronger economy
Take this with a grain of salt. iirc, and I can't remember which letter or whatnot I heard it in, but the Primals themselves won't literally roam the zones. The entrance would get randomly placed somewhere, and the first to find and beat it, would get the summon.
FF11 is old. Name a modern mmorpg that has managed to make a long level grind work. Times have changed. FF11 also had a plethora of content and many people refuse to leave their first mmorpg unless it changes drastically (case in point with FF11.) due to time invested, friendships, and familiarity. Name an mmo that has just started with a long grind that's successful. ESO already has people bashing it due to it's level grind. That is the main reason people are angry/upset by it. Most people do NOT want a long level grind. There's a reason the term "Korean grinder" exists.
1.0 was grinder and less accessible. There was only 2 endgame dungeons and a, 3 primal fights, (mog, ifrit, garuda). You are forced to speed run AV or CC else you wouldn't get all the chests could only take certain set ups, and darklight had like a very low maybe 1-5% drop rate so that meant spamming the same zone over and over could do 300 runs not see a body or much of anything else for that matter. People wouldn't invite you unless you have a speed run job, at least now you can queue up in duty finder and go on whatever you want. At least now you do about 50 runs and you know you will be done with darklight.
The game was even more laggy and less responsive and very slow paced in 1.0. Yoshi said it himself, "There was people who actually liked 1.0?"
I don't understand about people saying they want open world content. Does it really matter if its instanced or not? Imagine if only 1 party could fight Titan Hard Mode at a time, because he was some ??? you poped on the servers it would do nothing but make people stand around and wait and be pissed off because they don't want to wait for the party to finish. Fates are open world content and it does a good enough job at giving you that feeling of playing with people on your own server. Instances just work better because having mobs you pop with a ??? like in FFXI is archaic and makes people wait for the party fighting X mob. That is why new games instance stuff so people can play the game when they want without waiting.
Lol made a thread about this few hours before you ;o http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...’s-talk-future.
72 hours played to hit max level? You realize that's the same as wow right? It's been that way since BC that you can hit max level in 2-3 days/played. 72 hours played is a pretty decent time to get max level. It means if you play 16 hours a day you can hit it in a week. It means if you play less than that it'll take you longer. To me this is decent enough.
Funny, my experience is that its the Super Hardcore TM of the Bored after monday variety, that will bail. Regardless of what the devs do or don't do, because they'll never ever ever like the game.Quote:
Casuals will only stay so long before the next big shiny game appears at that point probably 50% will bail, than that leaves the mid to hardcore base
