you both make a great point. but that's generally why there are raid leaders and officers ;P the most important thing really is that people are able to listen and react in real-time, but being able to give feedback when necessary is vital as well (ie: calling out who you're raising so nobody else wastes time trying to raise the same target)
for sure. my LS's core group is pretty social on vent. raids and LS events have mandatory vent attendance, but for stuff that isn't required it's optional- though we still encourage people to get on and shoot the breeze with us to encourage brotherhood and all that. getting along well and having good synergy is important to what we do, and vent has helped a lot with that. and when we're not doing serious stuff we're a bunch of jokesters.
but LS chemistry is a lot like real life chemistry, and just as a lot of people don't necessarily mesh that well with coworkers irl and wouldn't stick around after work to chat, i think voice chat in MMOs is pretty similar.
i think maybe you may possibly have a slightly different idea of what 'end game' is
not all game content is created equal. it would be foolish to assume that, based on not needing voice chat in the content you've experienced, it also wouldn't be necessary for anything you haven't
