Bard's 6.1 changes - why bother?

I am actually also annoyed that I can't see my CD timer on WM anymore. At first I was okay with the posts saying "it doesn't hurt you" and then getting aggravated (even more so with the bug) that Pitch Perfect replacing WM no longer lets me see this timer! The timer that let's me know when it's off CD.

Just giving this the bump. I don’t plan on playing Bard for a lot of reasons, but you guys know why it sucks. Don’t want this drowned in the Sam spam.

The PP changes really doesn't help bloating issues when there are better options based on the current design, like:
1. Just merge Raging strikes and barrage
2. Making heavy shot/ burst arrow change into Refulgent Arrow when it procs
3. Remove Sidewinder
4. Deleting Dots and Iron jaws
5. Deleting all role actions that interrupt or cause negative status effect in PVE areas since the PVP patches heavily nerfed them in the overworld

This would have made way more sense because it's annoying when the action is sometimes canceled mid animation

BRD being the last bastion of DoT DPS jobs would cause the DoT lovers to jump you with that suggestion. Not saying I disagree though, and the Repertoire changes certainly set that up.

There are definitely a few changes that could be made to clear up bloat issues. Removing Interrupt seems like a strange suggestion. It isn't used often but it is used (unlike bind/heavy). Also agree with being able to hold pitch perfect stacks. Maybe not for 10-15 seconds, but 5 seconds would be nice so you can get them out if you cut it too close.


Combining sidewinder/Empyreal Arrow with charges and/or just dumping those charges into Bloodletter. Get rid of Shadowbite and have Refulgent arrow cleave (and replace both burst shot and Ladon's Bite). Get rid of Rain of Death and make Bloodletter cleave.


in b4 they decide to stack the songs together instead.

Wanderer's Minuet turns into Mage's Ballad after use;
Mage's Ballad turns into Army's Paeon after use;
Army's Paeon turns back into Wanderer's Minuet;

Is there a reason why you would say, use Burst/Heavy shot over a Straight Shot/Refulgent GCD?

IF so, keep it - otherwise it may have been better of that became a replacement since it only is usable when proc'd and not a maintenance buff (like the old days)

Yeah, I'm definitely not in the "remove DoTs" camp either, but the current design just screams "REMOVAL IMMINENT". It just really doesn't look good, prospect wise for them


I rarely notice when they're needed, and when they are they can usually be avoided entirely. Unlike, 2.0 bind which kept enemies at a distance, interrupted, and wasn't canceled out by damage. BRD was basically an anti-mage in early PVP

I don’t believe there is an instance where you would ever want to use Heavy/Burst Shot over Straight Shot/Refulgent, since the subsequent use of the former could proc the latter, causing you to lose a SS/RA and the potency along with it. SS/RA always takes priority over HS/BS, so making them change into the proc wouldn’t be a detrimental change if we really wanted to look into consolidation on BRD.

I’d personally prefer for SS to return to being a maintenance buff with RA remaining a proc, but I know that won’t happen. :c The developers said before that it was removed to “simplify” the job and not punish the BRDs that couldn’t maintain it…but then they turned around and gave RPR Shadow of Death which is the same thing as old SS so I don’t even know anymore.

Same here. I really don’t want to see them removed, but the fact that they’ve stripped every ounce of interactivity away from them does not bode well. Plus, they upped the duration to 45 seconds (I guess to “keep them in line” with the songs??), so it diminished how often IJ was used. There’s no real IJ optimization left to the job like in HW and SB especially, so I feel that their days are numbered…

Which is upsetting. I don’t think I could come back to BRD if they also disappeared. I already struggle with missing SB BRD.

Personally I like Ladon's bite because of the space it allows you to cleave targets with but having shadowbite and Refulgent arrow be the same button does sound like a clean solution.

Also why get rid of Rain of death and not get rid of bloodletter instead? Besides the level differences, it is what you are asking.

Finally, while replacing sidewinder with a second charge of Empyreal Arrow might not make the most exciting capstone, neither does Sidewinder so I wouldn't see that as problematic.
That said, sidewinder does have lots of room to design something in it whose only restrictions are "must target an enemy", "is an ability" and "does damage". So its removal might be a bit counterproductive if they plan to ever have an ability with some effect that satisfies these conditions. (And it means that you don't need to spend resources on building new animations and effects for the new ability).

I'm lucky I play on PC. I backed up my character folder to my backup HDD, my external SSD, and Google Drive juuuust in case all my HDD/SSDs decide to fail at once. If I ever remove Pitch Perfect by accident I can just copy/paste my HOTBAR.DAT and get it back.

I didn't mean "get rid of Ladon's bite" I meant, "get rid of Shadowbite" when, whenever Straight Shot procs, replace the Ladon's Bite button with the new Refulgent arrow which does big damage + drop off to other targets.

As for the Rain of Death/Blood Letter, same difference. Make one do a lot of damage to primary target plus have damage fall off in X AE configuration and get rid of the other.
