I think with Rift, the abilities are far more inconsequential. Something closer to that maybe.

WoW, I think some races had a larger advantage competitive wise (i.e. undead, gnome, human).

Gnome removes debuffs 1~2.
Undead removes debuff 3~5.
Human removes all the above, plus debuff 6.

And I don't know why the OP want something that is already ingame since launch.
Example:
A Wildwood has 3 Piety more than a Duskwight
And a Keepers of the Moon has 4 Mind more than a Seekers of the Sun

Those generally were only useful or 'overpowered' in PVP.

In PVE, the fights were too varied for any single racial ability to make a difference. The debuff removal from Gnomes, Forsaken and Humans let them swap out a trinket for a very minor (<2%) performance boost. Same for resistances, or weapon expertise, or anything else. They were pretty much pointless in most situations, but they were cool gimmicks to use when solo or while leveling.

Well doesn't your taru look similar to the taru of FFXI...one of the most popular face choices at that. It's about time you get over it, it was initially stated they reused the same races purely because it would be familiar to players of XI moving over that wanted to recreate their characters and logically people would call them by what they really are. True. The only time my gnome's Escape Artist ability saw use was whenever we had bosses that had roots or snares. Something minor I guess would be nice, just nothing like massive stat discrepancies, which is what FFXI used.

My comment regarding FF11 was about racial stats not about the look.
