So I was running Sastasha last night on my JP character, leveling up GLA. I like to take even dungeons like that seriously, so I was getting annoyed at the healer that wasn't DPSing, and instead healing me even though I can do the entirety of Sastasha without needing a single Cure.
So I told this guy that it was Sastasha and I didn't need heals. Honestly, I didn't expect him to listen. But he did. He stopped healing me. Even when I got really low on HP, he didn't heal me. And that was fine, since it was ultimately what I wanted.
...except he didn't do anything else to make up for it. Instead of using the time to DPS, he literally just stood there watching us fight. He didn't cast a single Stone or Aero. Just followed us around watching.
I don't know if I offended him by telling him not to heal or what, but I have never seen someone so incompetent at DPSing that they don't even realize it's an option. Maybe he was just angry at me, thinking I told him I didn't need him period or something, and decided to be petty and just do nothing instead. -

I was late getting my weekly loot from Orbonne last week so I ran that monday (yes, I know).
With that run I had my most bizarre DF encounter to date.
No first-timer bonus, everything seemed to go fine. Until we got to Mustachio.
The MT must have thought he was a spinning top because he kept running circles around the boss. When called out on this there was no reaction. The other two tanks started fighting him for aggro to keep the boss facing one way. It ...wasn't pretty.
Cue the first Analysis/Last Testament. The MTs whole alliance drops dead. They don't accept raises but they start communicating, in french (I guess? Couldn't really understand any of it).
We made it through the fight with 16 people, the dead alliance leaves us with a "bande d'imbéciles" amongst other french(?) I didn't care to run through Google translate and disappears from the raid. All eight of them decided to drop out.
What? I don't even.
I wasn't exactly mad so much as baffled as to what their objective was, some kind of practical joke?
The departure of one alliance caused more people to leave so I had to re-queue for the raid. Got a run with the first-timer message and we just marched through the place without a single wipe. And that's with an alliance apologizing up front for the havoc they were about to cause on Cid, they did perfectly fine. -

People just don't realise that the "gear recommendation" isn't guaranteed to be correct for tanks in ARR content when they can also equip other DoW or DoM gear, because it looks at gear level first and defence second. You need to actually manage your gear and double-check the stats on any recommended upgrades.
I've been in a similar situation in Stone Vigil, and the tank was carrying better gear than what the system had equipped for them - and they had no idea. So they appreciated finding that out, took a minute to find their actual best armour, and the whole thing ran more smoothly after that.

I queued into Expert Roulette and got the Burn. Everything up until the end of the second boss got bursted down nicely. However, at some point between the first and second boss, the tank had to step away from the game for a while, apparently due to family stuff. The Black Mage that was with me got impatient and started pulling things. This persisted even when the tank returned, and the Black Mage early pulled the second boss. The tank said that if he did that again, he'd be keeping it next time. They got into a fight after that, with the Black Mage saying that the dungeon didn't need a tank anyway.
The tank refused to tank anything after that, and the Black Mage and the healer continued onward. I went along with it because there wasn't really much point in watching them die and not make any progress. I ended up tanking, as a Bard. I'll admit I had situations where I had to do this myself, though not in this kind of manner. Thankfully Bard has a number of useful defensive cooldowns and the mobility to easily walk out of AoEs without sacrificing any DPS in turn. We make it to the last boss without any problems.
(I thought the healer was friends with the Black Mage at first since they were both in the same server as I was, but looking into it after the fact and talking to the healer to express my thanks after, they just went along with it because they also really wanted to get out of there ASAP.)
Black Mage and tank got into an even bigger fight. The tank was clearly not going to help at all against the Mist Dragon, so I decided to prepare myself. I knew if we had any chance of succeeding, I would have to be the one to tank it, not the Black Mage or the healer. Using Refresh or Tactician mid-fight would be out of the question. Thankfully, if any non-tank has to tank the Mist Dragon, it should definitely be a Bard. And I did it, with the support of the healer and without anyone dying. Hell, we did so much damage that if I had LB2'd, we'd have probably killed it before divebomb phase (the boss was at around 8% HP before he disappeared).
The Black Mage was an ass and I probably shouldn't have supported that behavior by stepping up and indirectly supporting his point by not failing (especially since the tank was completely convinced that this wasn't possible), but it was a valuable learning experience too.
A couple useful notes for Bards:
- Warden's Paean is incredible during the fight, as it blocks the frostbite damage over time and it also means the healer doesn't need to use a GCD for Esuna. The Mist Dragon uses it on the player that's tanking towards the start of the fight and again after add phase. If Warden's Paean is used within the first ~15 seconds of the fight, it should be off cooldown by the time you need it again after add phase. (Any earlier and the 30 second shielding might not last long enough to block the first debuff, any later and it will still be on cooldown when the boss uses it again). This enabled me to survive the second combo of debuff breath + mini-tankbuster frost breath after add phase, because if the frostbite debuff took hold, the DoT could have easily finished me off. Even so, the healer needs to pay close attention and prepare (which the healer did), because an auto attack afterwards could have wrecked me too.
- I recall that the debuff field breath + mini-tankbuster frost breath combo did about 47k damage total to me. As a BiS Bard, I have 54k max HP, so I had to be topped off to survive that. I remember only surviving by about 4-6k HP, I blocked the frostbite debuff, and I think I also moved out of the ice puddles before taking any field damage. It helps that the healer was an Astrologian that went into Nocturnal stance for the shielding, so it's possible I only survived because of that + my magic Troubadour potentially mitigating some of the damage. I prepared myself to hit Second Wind immediately afterwards so an auto wouldn't finish me off afterwards, though an auto likely does enough damage that it doesn't matter. I think the healer took advantage of Aspected Benefic and Essential Dignity being instant cast heals to get me back up immediately. -

Well, after setting up a new computer that came with a new keyboard and mouse, I redownloaded 14 and gave it a run on duty roulette as a test run.
Queue up as healer, get Stone Vigil. Party comp was DRK, MCH, MNK, and me on WHM. Tank runs off as soon as protect is on and proceeds to mass pull without letting me prep first. They run out of sight and by the time I could get off a swiftcast + cure II they're almost dead. I was able to hold them up for a while until 2 more mobs aggroed from the other room, and tank goes splat, followed by me, the mch, and then the mnk.
We respawn and tank basically decides to spit in my face by saying 'So no big pulls. Got it.' Um, if you had asked me first I would've been ready to cover you, and two, Stone Vigil is one of those instances that you probably shouldn't mass pull because of the amount of aoes and damage mobs dole out at level sync.
Throughout the entire dungeon they stance-dance while attempting to mass pull, thus making my healer's life more difficult since I don't have Holy and Medica II to help mitigate damage. At some point during the first and second boss fights the mch was easily able to rip hate from the tank and hold it, and I genuinely felt bad for the mnk who was attempting to do positionals, but I'm guessing he gave up after the second boss.
Final boss (after several more close calls with the tank mass-pulling and me getting used to the new keyboard), the tank keeps Grit off and proceeds to be a subpar dps, thereby letting hate bounce around for a good 80% of the fight. Its breath attack almost one-shots the tank. We manage to get through and the tank immediately quits the instance, and once loot is rolled on and dropped, the mnk leaves. The mch then tells me 'I love taking aggro lol', before leaving, and left me with a sour taste for my new keyboard.
I think I'll swap back in a bit. The spacebar squeaks anyway. -

The day of... interesting co-healers in Orbonne...
Got an AST who got offended when I told them they didn’t need to use Boles on me if I was the off-tank and could use it for something else, like Minor Arcana or Royal Road, and they then refused to heal me. So, we kicked them because, in their avoidance to healing me, they also failed to heal the party and killed 2 DPS every Cleansing Strike on TGC.
And then I got a SCH co-healer (that I had to apologize for being in Noct because the tanks Leeroy’d into the bosses before I could even swap out of Noct, so Mustadio and Agrias were done with double shields, but eh... made it through)... but the issue wasn’t the tanks face-pulling. It was my co-healer wearing the i385 Eureka weapon... with no substats. And, they were aware that the weapon was bad... just hadn’t... upgraded... it...

At least they weren’t a jerk when I asked them if they had intended to have that weapon equipped. They’d apparently been on a break and didn’t have a replacement, so I was going to suggest they try for the crafted one and augment it... but then the tanks pulled Ultima so... ;w;

I had an absolute doozy of a run the other night. Doing leveling roulette on my WHM (my main since launch) and got Aurum Vale with a first timer tank. I love AV. I love how I can keep everyone one alive, even when almost the entire first room gets pulled at once. I couldn’t do this at first of course, but 5.5 years as a healer main have taught me to never panic, and remain calm. Well the latter scenario happened, of course, due to the new tank and no one informing him of the wandering mobs (I always hope for that to happen so I can flex my pride). Healed through it no problem.
I explained the strategy for the first boss, and we beat it fairly easily. The Coin Counter was a different story. I told the tank to get behind the boss for the swipe, and to get far away from the swing. After not dodging the first swipe, the tank proceeded to run far away from every swipe and swing. This caused casting issues for our two dps mages, but we eventually beat it. After that, the tank got hit by EVERY SINGLE BAD BREATH attack. From both the trash morbols, and the last boss. I esuna’d the first debuffs off of him, but let the rest do their thing. Before the last boss I even told him how important it was to dodge aoe’s, but he still got hit by every single one.
The tank didn’t use a single cooldown for the entire run, yet he never died, nor did anyone else during the massive accidental pulls in both the first and last rooms. The masochist in me was very happy. But I didn’t get a single commendation. I was respectful through the whole thing, and healed my ass off. We would’ve had multiple wipes with many other healers, including me long ago. But it really chapped my ass that not a single party member recognized what I did for that party! -

Running a new tank in an another server, 34-ish and a bit undergeared in Brayflox. At first pull the healer noticed he had to put a bit more effort on healing and ditched the duty with penalty. When other healer came (almost instantly) we ended it in 20'.
The sweet taste of thinking of that healer still eating 10' more of penalty after we done it all. -

The bad news: Multiple double digit percentage enrage wipes on Seiryu EX due to people being really bad.
They are all "Nah, calm your balls dude, enrage is totally not a problem" *Enrage at 14%* "OMG!"
Me: I told you this wasn't going to work.
Them: Stop being so negative dude, or we report you for ruining the mood *Enrage wipes at 14% again*
Me: ...NOPE! *Leaves* Farm party my ass.
And now another one.
Cursekeeper starts casting, the other tank Shirks right BEFORE i provoke, then an attack from him causes him to regain aggro and eat the buster, causing a party wipe explosion.
He then tells me that i should provoke.
Also such fun things like two DPS being assigned to the same waymark and a bunch of other shenanigans.
Also me messing up because i'm used to being on B/2, but they made me go on A/1, leading to accidents where i try going B/2 out of sheer habit, remember that's not what we are doing this time, turn around too late, BOOM everybody dies from one of big ogre things with the tethers cleaving everyone because i tried to reflexively pick up the one i always have in every single run prior to this one, then remember too late that i was supposed to go for the other one this time.
I did warn them that might happen, but they didn't listen, then made fun of me when it did.
Then there was the fun one yesterday where they decided that i should be the one pulling the boss, and then threw a hissy fit when it was pointed out that Paladins are not really that great at pulling bosses compared to the other tank classes.

So recently I decided to to farm Tsukuyomi again...this time for the moonlit fish tank for my FC(it's for a friend of mine in the FC) since I already got the mounts for all Stormblood primals
I joined a farm group,say that I'm gonna pass on the dog since I only need the fish tank
Everyone on that PF said they're gonna pass on it,so I assumed so and we do a couple of runs till it dropped.............and then someone rolls "Need" on it anyway
I was miffed to say the least but the guy that got it s apologized as he said he rolled on it by mistake so all good ...........until one bard came in.
That bard,by his own admission,already has multiples of every single loot from Tsuki EX including the fishtank,he said so himself when I asked him.He said he wanted another one so he could sell it on the Market board.And when I told him "Please I need it" he acted all high and mighty and started throwing sarcastic remarks.
Basically no different than having 99 totems and then rolling on the mount anyway
I know I sound entitled cuz there is no way you'd just hog a specific loot exclusively to you without using lootmaster. But when a pf tells me they're gonna pass on it,they gave me certain expectation which led me to trust them.If they said nothing I wouldn't even feel a single drop of the salt that flows in me right now.

I had this happen the other night when I was farming Shinryuu and kept telling people that if we keep messing up the first half of Shinryuu we weren't clearing him period. I wrote out a few things such as healer marker doesn't go there, healer earth shaker left/dps right and after wiping I mentioned that the dps was seemed low bc we weren't skipping mechanics (ppl claimed I was parsing, I was not its just duh if you get the tornado in the center and healers are having to do the healing mechs on the purple heads in the first half, ya dps is low) To be fair I am really close to getting 99 totems for my much wanted dog. Just so we're all clear, someone on reddit specifically asked the support people if giving gameplay feedback and instructions was still allowed. The answer boiled down to something along the lines of 'so long as you're not being overtly mean or calling people names, you're good'.

So my friend decided to drag the rest of us into Bismarck Hard to help another FC mate out. 4-man party comp we pull in to load up are WAR, PLD (me), RDM 1, and SCH.
We load in, and get WHM, RDM 2, SAM, and BLM for the rest of the party. Everyone gets the notice that someone's new. This is important.
We divvy up the adds and get through phase 1 with little problems (our fc sch was new to the fight and we were helping her, and the whm we had was awesome in supporting the group), when we get to the dps check and clear, and I grab my add (we decided which ones we were getting beforehand to ease things in case we had an unreliable healer).
I then notice that the adds are not dead, but someone fired off one dragonkiller...and Bismarck disables the second one before someone could fire it. A second set pops and I grab more adds...and my WAR friend then realizes RDM 2 is trying to attempt the rush strategy, which is to fire off the dragonkillers when the tanks are positioned close enough to bumrush the adds.
However, they had not bothered to tell the rest of the group, and the both of us were not positioned for it. More adds spawn, people die from aoes and getting knocked off and we wipe. RDM 2 said they tried to fire off the second dragonkiller but 'sprint did not work.'
The amount of ripping done on RDM 2 by 4 other people correcting them was astounding. They were mad about not being told about them attempting to do said strat unless you inform the rest of the group. Said rdm insisted it was possible to do their strategy; but when someone is new and assuming they are doing it blind (which seems to be 80% of the time I've done trials), it's best that they do the tried and true method, which is to kill all adds first. We rebuff and get through the dps check, and I grab my add while my war friend takes the other two. Bismarck smacks the island and stuns everyone, and I realize he's stuck in the knockback aoe from one of his adds.
'Well, I'm gonna eat this.'
I watch him get booped off and my inner tank runs my character over to take over. RDM 2 focuses a bit more on dpsing the adds (everyone else is doing their job) instead of hanging around the dragonkillers, and while the adds are sitting at 1%, she fires them off. Luckily one of the other dps notices this and hits the other one. We manage to down Bismarck, and the rest of us realize that RDM 2 had already fled, probably due to embarrassment for assuming and getting called out on it.
Moral of the story: inform your party at the start so the rest of them are on the same page as you, especially in a pug, and especially if it's for a strategy you have in mind. It'll make you look that much less of a moron when you do and fail spectacularly. -

Was in a run earlier or Saint Moci Hard on my ninja. We had a Sch who couldn't dodge mechanics very well so whenever it was up he'd Eos beam himself and eat all the mechanics.
I was a little stunned and worried.

Not DF related, really, but I keep getting into reflect/light parties in Pyros where half of the DPS consistently mess up on pressing their buttons, as opposed to maybe once or twice by simple, basic error, tanks who faceplant into the ground because lol what are cooldowns and/or protective logos, and other groups who get into the same instance, say nothing, and show up to take as many moths and wind sprites as they can (and btw, they're never seen on any PF before I queue into Pyros).
To make it worse, I'm eLV 60, and am remaining so until the almost unlikely event I can get my BA/Ozma clear (which I hear is one of the worst examples of kitten herding, and getting everything right and organized, in the whole game). If it wasn't for that then I'd gladly de-level to 49 and stockpile my light so I can stand a snowball's chance in Penny's hole in getting actually good stats on my four relics instead of half-decent ones (thanks, Yoshi). It wouldn't take anywhere as long, I mean. Now? Now I have to endure this in so many groups, some of which fall apart so easily, and possibly risk losing most of any number of Reflect stacks because of how that system works.
I want to be free of Eureka; I really do. ;-;
