All of them obviously so that their healer friend doesn't have to heal them.
All of them obviously so that their healer friend doesn't have to heal them.
Yeah, i've had that happen in my weekly O10s run.
I'm down to 30k HP from auto-attacks, the tankbuster is coming up.
So i jump into Shield Oath, pop Sentinel and Sheltron, and put Reprisal on the boss.
I promptly die anyway because that thing hits hard.
Cue the "We have a problem with the tank" comment from one of the healers.
Yeah sure, because that was totally my fault, the lack of healing or shields surely had nothing to do with it...
You forgot to mention how the SCH was actually Adlo-shielding the OFF-TANK during Phantom Flurry.
The OFF-TANK.
You know.
The one NOT currently taking the buster.
But, yes. 30% RNG parry will save you when your SCH doesn’t know how to play their job.
(I was the Diurnal AST in this party that pointed out the SCH wasn’t using shields apart from Succor on the MT).
Tried to do a couple runs of Suzaku EX, and every time there was this one ninja who didn't get their bird (even after being told which one to grab) and I ended up dying because of it moving to me. And then the constant deaths (of others) on Simon...
I'm just so tired from the past couple of days of attempts and now I don't even know if I want to join clear parties at this point when I'm able to do the things right and yet I'm smacked at every turn.
This is largely why I shy away from doing savage or extreme content.
I did Susano and Lakshmi ex in 4.0. Not difficult fights really. But I got so tired of people that couldn't run their lightning markers to the other side of the arena or position themselves with the cloud knockback safezone mechanic, forget what it was called. I'm not interested in committing to a schedule with a static but don't have the patience to deal with pugs in difficult content either. Not that I don't make mistakes, I don't mean someone making a couple mistakes and then learning from it as you learn a fight, I mean making the same mistakes over and over.
I can't listen to Susano's music anymore. It makes me remember far too many hours spent watching pugs blast the party with lightning or failing to break me out of gaols in time.
I know this is slightly off topic...but sort of does fit in with duty finder stories(or future stories at least that may be of/from me)...
But when does the tank swap happen in there. Is it while Phantom Flurry is still casting?(Same with Tsukuyomi, while she is casting the tank buster - can't remember the name, but she yells WORM right before?)
That is basically the only thing holding me back from actually going into the newer extreme primals as a tank...not know when to take the boss from the other tank.
As long as you have hate when the cast bar is done, it's ok. How it works is it puts a vulnerability on the person taking the tank buster, so if the person who takes the buster gets hit with the autoattack afterwards it 1 shots them (unless creative use of invulns like Hallowed/Holmgang/Living Dead). So you can swap during the cast but as long as you have hate before the first auto after the cast it's fine.
Suz's Flurry is a very long ability so you have a lot of time. You can actually move behind her as soon as she starts kicking as MT, (the cleave snapshots when she starts kicking and she doesn't turn). If you are the OT taking over just wait until the cleave goes off before moving to the front or you will get knocked off.
Tsu's buster is a triangle so you don't want to replace the tank in front until you see it go off and if you're MT don't move until it's done. It functions the same way. Swap during the cast. It puts a vulnerability on anyone in the triangle when it goes off causing the next autoattack to deal lethal damage unless invuln.
The MT can help out by shirking you after you use Provoke to make it go more cleanly and vice versa.
Oh, O12 NM
I love dying to unavoidable room wide AoEs as a DPS.
I love getting rezzed, standing still waiting for a top off and then dying to the next unavoidable room wide AoE after my invuln runs out.
I love how pugs never separate the pink marker from the stack marker (imma durrr drop em just one yalm away from each other durrr deeerp).
I love pugs overlapping both pink and stack markers and wiping the raid.
With forced tank swaps with tank busters in EX and Savage modes it works like this:
As soon as the boss starts casting, whomever they were looking at (read has aggro) will take that hit, regardless of what happens next. Im not sure if its that way due to how the game is coded and that was a byproduct they rolled with, or if thats how it was initially intended. In any case, Once the boss starts casting the tank buster, you can pretty much provoke at any time. It is heavily recommended that you provoke early in the cast, to allow the tank to shirk you. The reason being is that if you provoke late, and they dont shirk, or shirk late, the boss may queue up an auto attack when the tank buster ends thatll still hit the MT and kill them. That is probably due to server ticks or something. In any case, its better to provoke early in the cast, so they can shirk you faster.
Just make sure in Suzu's case, you dont run in front of her till after the entire mechanic is done so you dont get blown off.
You forgot something about F-omega being at 20% life left while M-omega is still at 75%, because half the team don't see they are aiming at the wrong target and doing no damage at all. Having to stop attacking because the two healers obviously aren't gonna keep you alive during the laser beam soft enrage if you finish F-omega right now, then worrying of how your dps will look like crap if the raid end up being successful, and finally hoping for a wipe to not look like an incompetent player in front of the whole world to see if someone else is stupid enough to upload that pathetic attempt of a run on fflogs.
So I was solo farming Eureka Anemos for the challenge log when I died to the lvl20 Coffinkeep mob for the Ashkin/Earth part of the log. The instance was almost dead so I wasn't expecting a raise, but I have to try to avoid losing a massive chunk of xp and delevelling. I continued to shout every 2 mins or so until there was nearly a minute remaining. A few more people joined so I shouted one last time and lo and behold my prayers were answered.
A scholar and their partner (same last name) in a party came up to me with 60 seconds on the clock....and walked right past me to stand by me. Hopped off their chocobo's and continued to stand there for about 20 seconds. I ask for a raise in /say so they know that I am directing at them and still no response, they just stood there.
Well I got saved in the last 30 seconds by someone else, who I can't thank enough. I suspect that the couple left me to die and have to return just so they could steal my farming spot. Of course being a couple, raising me and joining party would be out of the question, even if it had no drawbacks to completing the challenge log. Also no response to my tell asking why they didn't raise (English selected as a language). Sure enough when I returned 30 minutes later to resume farming, they were there.
Blacklisted because they're on my server and moving on. I've changed class and gone out of my way to rez people in Eureka because I know how painful it can be to lose a level. It's sad to be treated this way by a player, considering how easy chucking a rez would have been, and it would have been better if they hadn't appeared at all.
Yikes, yeah I haven't brought myself to continue in Eureka since I got my Anemos weapons but from what I gather much of the camaraderie players had while Anemos was still relevant dissipated and pulled a total 180 towards a more competitive attitude with the release of Pagos. Seems that's even bleeding back into Anemos now as well, based on that story. At least some people still seem kind enough to help out anyway.
Forgive me for not knowing but what's the difference between Anemos and Pagos?
Anemos is the original instance that goes from 1 - 20. There is a wind theme and the final boss is Pazuzu.
Pagos is 21 - 35 and has an ice theme and a duo of Bunny FATEs, in addition to newer mobs, Notorious Monsters, and a mutation mechanic. The final boss is Louhi, though there's also a Morbol named Cassie.
Had a miserablea night.
Ran Rabanastre, Kefka, Omega and Omega M/F 5 times each for cards and music... every time music came out I was outrolled by a few points. Even my 97 on one of the Rabanastre cards was out rolled. All I feel in the end is that I wasted time and nothing was gained.
Many of those fights as well somehow dragged their feet and many of them wiped.
People messing up lardboard/starboard even without a bonus after it's explained. Someone got 8 stacks of vulnerability to Kefka. One instance someone just kept jumping off the platform with a jump back affect... though as I understand this is a somewhat known issue(?)
IF there's silver lining in all this is that the people, although frustrated in /p, most were able to laugh it off and work through it.
Apologies to the group on Sunday in the second Alphascape fight. It seems I can't quickly recall the movements of the boss and where to preemptively move. They're just not sticking in my mind for some reason despite people trying to help. I'll just go as a less demanding class and see if that helps at all.
It is? I know Anemos is rolling grass hills and beautiful landscapes but I thought Pagos was just a giant Salt Flat. Salt as far as the eye can see in all all directions.
Except where Angra is, that's nice but deceptive as it is also almost certain death.
There is two kinds of differents partys :

Seriously, it made me laugh so hard XD I am used to see "x fails = kick or disband", but it is the first time i see someone raging so much that he threatens to permanently blacklist you.
Would help his case if he spelled "permanent" right too. Usually what happens is 9/10 chances that party never fills up and they spend their time waiting for a while before it ever does...or, they never reach their goal because everyone becomes sick of the party leader after one try and leaves or he kicks them all anyways.
Pagos is Anemos with annoying map design/aetheryte levels, leveled 20 to 35, and with light farming thrown in for the relic.
I think Pagos is supposed to be ice/snow for the 'ice' elemental theme. Pyros will be 'fire' themed, not sure what kind of envronment that would be but I would guess either a desert or having a volcano or something. Or some burnt out forest.
Today in Alphascape:
People still can't do Lar/Starboard. At all. Even with simple instructions and a reliable player marked for following.
IMO I'm not sure that marking people really helps.
There's plenty of time to see the name of the cast and start moving, but the damage comes out quick enough that the added time of having to follow someone else instead of already being on your way to the safe zone could lead to getting hit regardless.
I was in O10N as WHM with two tanks - one I would designate the OT who was kinda oblivious and the other who was an MT trying to MT and really not doing a good job at accumulating enmity.
The first Ahk Morn resolves and I'm at the top of the hate list. Well, that's no problem - the boss hits like a wet noodle and there are no tank busters in P1 so we're good. When I eyed the enmity bar, I noticed that EVERYONE was riding the MT's enmity pretty hard so I just decided to hold onto the boss and position myself in a way to minimize boss movement and dodge mechanics as necessary. I figure if someone should hold it that isn't a tank, it should be someone who can at least heal themselves through the damage.
The MT tried to get hate from me with several provokes and ultimatums but try as he might, he couldn't really hold it from me for too long so I was happy to oblige.
Eventually we get to the phase transition and the dragon pops in. The MT provokes and gets it then get obliterated by the subsequent cleave due to not popping any CDs while I was processing myself to get cleaved in the face and topping myself off. I get the dragon again, and decided to "nope" out, popping my Lucid.
Dragon went to a DPS and cleaved it in the face with two others.
I think by the time the OT realized "Oh, I need to pick up the dragon", 5/8 of the raid had been killed. So, we wipe.
Come the next attempt, it's the same thing so I just enjoy getting whacked around while healing and DPSing. We get to the phase transition, I make sure the MT is topped off and let my healing partner do some of the initial healing as I DPS nails. There was a "NO DO NOT DO THAT" moment when the MT's nail dies and he starts running to another nail that's occupied with 2 melee DPS whether by luck or skill manages to avoid cleaving them >>;
We kill everything, get to the phase transition, I have hate again. I have a healthy amount of hate due to healing through the phase transition - enough where I feel comfortable enough to let the MT provoke off me and Lucid to give them a sizable hate lead against everyone else in the raid due to WHM enmity generation. I actually thought the first Tail End would obliterate me but the MT Provoked in time for me to not get clipped by that.
Outside of the Ahk Morn in the final phase, it was pretty smooth sailing from there.
Despite how crazy the story seems, I had a lot of fun dealing with that stress, lol.
Today, I was the pug.
Had an embarrassing Mentor Roulette (Royal Menagerie) where I accidentally got pushed off by Tidal Wave (as did two or three other people, one of which I believe was MT). Amazingly, we didn't wipe and went on to clear, though I also wound up misreading where the tail was falling at one point and wound up walking onto a panel that broke underfoot.
The weird thing is, I got Royal Menagerie a week or two ago and did just fine on it, so it's not like I was still on Shinryu EX timing. Maybe it was just one of those derp days.
Had a Saint Mocianne hard run on tank. It was a smooth run more or less except on that second pack of 5 enemies after the first boss. Some reason the healer let me drop to 1 hp. You heard correctly. If I didn't pop holmgang I'd have died. I do appreciate healer dps but I think that pushed the limit of the "how low can you go" game if I die without my invuln.
And that pack of enemies don't even hurt that much.
Yeah, it doesn't do much. But had to try something more after 3 wipes (the instructions mentioned were given after the first), with people actively running the wrong way every single cast. :/
My way of doing it is "Stay on the left. If the first cast is Larboard, move. If the second cast is the same as the first, move." The marker was intended as "if you see me moving, it's the other side." Sure, not a lot of time to react that way, but it's still better than people literally being unable to do it AT ALL on their own.
I think that happens to most people at some point. Most days when I sign up for a Mentor Roulette I end up getting a guildhest or easy dungeon. Then suddenly one day I'll get something that requires me to think and end up screwing up because I'd fooled myself into thinking the trend would continue. :p
Leveling an alt, got to Castrum Meridianum. Tanks go to round up all the trash at the beginning and sprint for the road to the first boss. I hit the spotlights.....and forgot about the forced cutscenes, since I haven't actually run the MS Roulette in months. And the enemies don't pause just because you can't hit back.
So yeah, that's how you cause a wipe in Castrum Meridianum.
No such thing ... the remaining one does a 15k aoe all. 7 secs. Thats far easier then dealing with dual 70k busters double meteor and cosmo memory. A pld can solo heal himself through lasers.
To hold dmg is never a good idea kill them asap and do not be afraid of a 50 to 0% difference. Any healer worth its salt can solo heal the lasers.
Just to emphasize this. I had a run the other day where the whole party died except myself (DRK) and the SCH at the very end. Omega-F proceeded to spam Laser Shower. So I repeated put TBN on the SCH, turned on Grit and kept myself alive mostly through DA + Souleater and CDs while they rotated healers on me and themselves. We held out for two full LB bars to generate, which gave us healer LB3.
So am calling foul on the idea of withholding damage. That simply isn't the case. Granted, the person you quoted seems to have a vendetta with FFlogs lately.
--------------------
Speaking of logs. On an entirely different run of Suzaku EX, I elected to go Scholar. Now I'll be the first to acknowledge my own inexperience on the job. I know it well enough to perform adequately, but am certainly pulling out any heroics. Anywho! We get through the transition relatively unscathed, but ultimately wipe due to people getting hit by colors, including my co-healer. Afterwards, she accuses me of not using Succor. Which came off... odd. At first I thought maybe my timing was a bit off since I typically play regens for Suzaku. I tried to set them up for the stack while shielding the tank. If you've followed my previous post, I wanted to assure the tanks actually got an Adlo instead of demanding they use Anticipation~.
Things go better the second run until they end, though we do manage to limp through. Well, I hadn't noticed the WHM whining about Succor and Indom, claiming I just wasn't helping her. Now I know I had things covered this time, you know seeing no one died and shields were out. Either way, she kicks me, which was a blessing because oh boy does she get hit by colors a lot.
Fortunately, I happened to have a magic abacus and looked at my casts, just to be certain what I might have done wrong. Turns out that first pull, where she accused me of not using Succor? I had twelve casts. The second? Fourteen. So that was quite interesting to find. Furthermore, where she whined about me not using Succor + Indom, I did have a Succor up and put down Scared Soil. The stack was sufficiently covered. Indom would also be wasted there since only two people were low going in, neither to the point of dying and without any outgoing damage thereafter, HoTs can easily tick people up. My plan was to wait on Eos. More importantly, I was shielding the tank alongside putting down Soil and Succor. Doing some digging, I found out she's only ever run with SCHs or ASTs who have double her healing output (we're talking orange HPS to grey). Now I certainly won't sit here and say I did a stellar job. I probably didn't. But something tells me she was looking to pass the blame...
