I am...slightly disappointed again?

My take on what Yoshi was saying was "We have no plans of doing this, but that doesnt mean it wont happen in the far flung future."

Considering the limitations theyre referencing, the likely hood of it happening appears to be nil unless they outsource (which they likely wont due to costs/security). I know its a debbie downer position, but if they were serious about addressing the off sexes, they would say something more akin to "We are looking at avenues t oaddress that in the future." All we get currently is "Hey, maybe youll see them in an NPC capacity someday." This doesnt strike me as theyll add it.

True - when speaking of enhanced character customisation or asset conversion, they speak in those bolded terms. This is more tentative. All we can really do though is keep voicing our demand for them and hope they have an actual intention of adding them eventually. As things stand, whilst I'm pleased for those who will enjoy the new races, neither addition appeals to me, so I shan't be playing either.. and if they're not going to do much to improve existing race customisation and the graphics engine for 6.0 either, it will ultimately dampen my enthusiasm for the game.

Maybe at this time its better to petition SE to upgrade the character customization. That might yeild better results. But it's worth noting in that regards, itll probably be strictly facial and hair, as body shapes and changes would run into the same issues as the off sexes. Im not going to hold my breath, but maybe we'll get lucky come 7.0 and see the off sexes or a more robust character creation engine.

I'm honestly more and more positive we will get them on 6.0 every time I read read the letter. I think that we should never forget it's Yoshi we are talking about, and he loves to leave hidden messages and troll, so this could very well be his way of saying they are coming without stealing the thunder from 6.0, and being able to then say that they made it and it was a huge effort and they didn't expect to make them but they did it because of the request of the community

At least now folks can unite and move away from the idea of using a child model or to have a character that looks anything like a child. I think right now it's best to unite and support the idea of what Yoshi put forward; the more we support his idea of 'Elegant, handsome and slim' - the more likely he's going to push for it. With that being said, the child image that's in the front page - in my opinion - should be removed, since there is no chance we will be getting something that looks like that.

I wonder if the team was working on more than just the glasses in secret? Hmmm~

Whilst as a PVE-focused MMO it needs the lure of high end raids, there is an awful lot of content that does not add similar value yet which sees extremely low uptake (e.g. PVP modes, Gold Saucer content, even Eureka) and yet act as resource hogs on the game. I feel the devs spread themselves far to thinly in an attempt to make FF14 be a game that appeals to everybody and appeases all demographics equally....This in theory is commendable. But in reality just means the game never really excels in any area, becoming a jack of all trades, master of none.

It also seems to me like they are cutting corners when it comes to new content in an attempt to keep up with the patch schedule...Eureka is one example of this. It was hailed as a nod to FF11 and the unique gameplay mechanics on paper were very appealing...but once you got in there it was a glorified Fate train where the core gamplay was literally just a rehash of Diadem.....a gameplay model which failed twice already!...

I honestly feel Eureka was rushed and became wasted potential.... which is a trend that to me is becoming more noticeable in many areas of the game including these new races....Yoshi makes a point in saying these are likely the last races we'll see so they wanted to appeal to the fans whilst being different....really change it up design wise and go for more, hence the genderlock...okay cool...

If that's the case why have the Viera lost most of their racial traits apart from the ears?! Same for the Hrothgar (Ronso) who have lost most of their beastial traits and reduced to nothing more than a Roe with a cat face....sure marketing and PR can carry the dead weight...but them basic cookie cutter body models do not lie....parts of Yoshi's statement however are questionable....

However I must stress I DO NOT think the devs are lazy by any means....they work incredibly hard!

However I personally feel they are making life harder for themselves by insisting on sticking to this patch release schedule.....a patch every 3 months is just unrealistic and seldom seen as a common thing for other games for good reason!

They are working themselves to the bone to keep up with a patch schedule that will inevitably end up failing because there will come a point where the game has simply just grown too much to keep up with a 3 month release window for each patch.

I feel the writing is very much on the wall with this, especially when you look at the decline in patch content since 2.0 till now. Coupled with the fact that half patches are now guaranteed for each patch....yet back in 2.0 and most of HW these were quite rare.

This suggests the devs are doing all they can in an attempt to maintain a patch schedule which is simply not sustainable....I personally wish they would scrap it and allow themselves more time to develop each patch, so their ideas can be realized to their full potential!

Yes, they can. I'm not arguing against a youthful face. I'm arguing about those who literally wanted to have the child model. Every race has a youthful face - so, it'd be silly for me to argue against that.
