Can you discuss or comment without trying to insult people? No? Thought so.
Its good that someone like you leaves duties that he doesn't like because it seems that have a very short fuse.
Well, I think we found Moaning Myrtle's new best friend.
For real though, you take the penalty on the spot, for a roulette that could put you in. It's people like you that make me wish leaving roulettes had much stricter penalties... say a 168 hour penalty so you're locked from duty all week. Also, if you queue for a roulette and you get kicked for any reason, you also get the penalty (to avoid DC/"Kick me" type shenanigans to avoid the penalty). Maybe then you'd start just doing the duty.
Simply put, you join roulettes to fill queues. Don't like it? Don't queue for the roulette. Now if they've had a couple of attempts and it doesn't work out that's one thing (especially for the more obvious stuff), but leaving on sight because "Oh no Aurum Vale." - it can frustrate me as much as the next person, but I'll at least give it a valiant shot. After all, the roulette put me there to fill a queue, let's give it my all. And yes, I've had duties I absolutely despise being pulled up in roulettes but since the roulette can put me in them, I just swallow my pride and give it my best shot.
This is useful info, and you're likely much more pro than me (I trust your maths because when I look at numbers they can sort of go a bit blurry)! So I wish I could test it now for the "feels", but I've had to reinstall Windows today and now am reinstalling FFXIV, which I'm unable to get to until tomorrow. Bleh. XD Sometimes I really hate technology.
Maybe I'm a bit in the minority on this, but even if I got Aurum Vale or Bardam's Mettle or any of those sorts of obnoxious dungeons from leveling roulette, I would consider it really rude to just up and leave when there are 3 others there who probably don't want to be there either. I don't like doing them too, but I'd rather suck it up and just get it done as fast as we can rather than eat the timer and also force the 3 randoms to have to sit for someone else who hopefully doesn't leave either.
Like, I signed up knowing those are probably what I'm going to get (and it happens way more than I'd prefer but hey what can you do), and I don't think it's courteous to just bail and waste everyone's time just because one of the annoying dungeons got picked.
Ahhh Day 1 patch shenanigans, such as getting vote kicked out of expert for a dungeon that a lot of people are still figuring out. Forget that the RDM's equipment broke while trying to clear the last boss of the Burn, sending them from 30k HP to 14k, but *I'm* clearly the problem here lol
Keep staying in those frozen puddle AoEs, I'm sure eventually you'll live through them. At least it's the first time I've ever been vote kicked.
You know you're going to hate getting the new Trial in Roulette when your first attempt involves the party wiping to the same attack seven times and then disbanding.
Also had an O9 run where someone stacked their stack marker on the other stack marker. Who even does that?
This s the first patch I’ve had a bad experience with. Queued up for o11 as DRK, the WAR was in their dps stance so I took the lead. This was my first time (obviously, it’s the first day) but the SCH called me a shitter and a useless monkey anyways. Someone put up a vote kick on him but it failed, then a vote kick went up for the AST - who accidentally use nocturnal and immediately switched to diurnal after the wipe - and it went through. I left before a replacement healer joined, requeued right away to one-shot him without anyone calling anyone names.
I'm had a mostly great day today learning the new stuff.
The biggest embarrassment for me has been falling through the hole in Suzaku.
I'm still mad about it...
I just had a confidence boost that I really needed after my last three stories that I shared here. V10N, when learning the boss' patterns (in, out, cross - you know what I mean if you fought there), I pretty died to every single one of them, even after the initial wipe, because I got so thrown by the boss doing it twice before casting. I apologized to my party for screwing them up and told them that it was my fault we wiped, told them if they wanted to replace me, it was understandable. I don't recall a time when the whole party took the time out to cheer me up. One of the tanks cleared up the in-out-cross pattern for me, and even though I messed up and ate a vuln stack, and died to another attack later on in the fight, they told me not to give up.
Wasn't expecting to get 7 comms. I want to give thanks to that group, if they happen to visit the forums. I even ran V10N again, and did much better this time, so you guys really helped a lot.
Yeah, I don't remember people being this nasty, not even during Day 1 Ivalice raids where everyone has a bad time lol
It's sorta left a sour taste in my mouth for something I should be hyped for, but I just need to let it stew for a few days until I get over it. It's whatever, I'll likely never see them again. They were probably in the same FC or something too, all things considered. OH WELL LOL, live and let live.
The Burn
It's an MSQ dungeon, how hard could it be? I went in not expecting to have to do stuff. The boss set me right. The first wipe was 100% my fault because again I wasn't expecting anything to unforgiving. All those AoEs and freezes. After that, I set up and started paying closer attention. There were a couple more wipes. I swear the hitbox on that spread attack is bigger than it shows. There were times where I wasn't even in it to begin with and I still got frozen. Fourth attempt, I went full on "raid mode" and used everything in my toolkit. No one dropped below 50% health and it was super smooth. Even though people got frozen when they were out of the AoE.
Auspice
After two wipes of failing the DPS check we cleared. The tank was the only one who wasn't new. He was like, "Watch out, you can fall in the middle after this." Guess what happened a little bit later. He fell in. Then some point later the other tank fell in. Does she have a pull? I loved the DDR section. And the exploding platforms was neat. I got hit twice before I figured it out. First time I thought I had to stay opposite the bird. Second time was when all the orbs showed up together and I stood in the first one. That was on of the funnest fights.
Rathalos Normal in Trial Roulette.
SAM uses LB 3 while the boss is flying, does basically no damage.
SAM: Why it no do damage?
Others: You should only use LB while he is on the ground
SAM: The more you know
Me: One would think it was obvious with the defense buff he has while flying...
SAM: WHO FUCKING CARES!
And then he leaves instantly.
Gee, someone's offended
oOOF. That last boss. With my first group it also took us four tries to clear the thing. I wasn't looking forward to getting into that fight again so soon.
So a little bit later I was trying to queue up for the new trial, totally forgot I still had The Burn checked also, and I ended up right back in it. D: Thankfully we had an easier time with it in the 2nd group, although we still had a wipe at the end.
Queued yesterday to do Suzaku normal for the first time. Ended up getting dropped into a duty in progress. I say my greetings saying I was new to the fight as I see a couple brief lines with one person making a frustrated comment (can't remember the specifics) and another reminding them it's new content. Group is still at seven members, and before I even have time to ask what's happened or say anything else I'm back in Reisen Temple, with a message in the chat stating the duty is ended... I was too baffled at the time to realize I was probably kicked for... literally no reason? Thankfully it didn't take too long to get back into another instance, but that was such a bizarre thing to happen.
Using Rescue to pull a SMN all the way out in left field into the AoE range of my healing partner's Earthly Star when 7/8 people were already standing in it after raid buster goes out in O11N.
^___________^
Yesterday for my 1st time in The Burn I got an inprog at the last boss on healer. I'm not sure if the dps that ended up leaving told everyone including the healer I replaced or not that they were on a time limit at the start or not, but I entered and said hi only to get a complaint about the last healer having the balls to go afk for 10mins. We wipe twice on the last boss the 1st time gave me an Ah-ha moment in that it's Rydia's mom mist dragon fight from IV where you don't attack the boss while it's in mist form. Anyway the short on time dps had to leave and another quickly replaces them and we easily clear.
I loved the group I did the other dungeon with as everyone was new and stuck with it as we figured out what to do on the last boss and how to deal with the slimes.
Saint Mocianne hard's last boss is going to drive me nuts in pugs. Last group kept hitting the slime to the wall.
Did anyone order damage downs? Wiping is pretty much impossible in there though while I'm on healer.
How many times does it take getting TWO SHOT for a tank to learn they should probably NOT sit in DPS stance when taking Mustard Bomb? -sob-
Here's an odd one I remember a few weeks ago. I was doing Susano on my WHM alt for MSQ, and we wiped pretty bad the first and second time, and after the second wipe, one of the tanks left. The tank that replaced them was a Haurchefant RPer (PLD, obviously). He main tanked Susano, and we won the first try with him replacing the previous tank (who was kinda bad).
It's been around three weeks and I'm still in disbelief that a Haurchefant RPer of all people ended up saving the day.
Also, while doing O9N for the first time, all of the soak markers that need to be spread out ended up getting stacked on top of each other, and it melted pretty much the entire group. The "spreading the soak markers" mechanic got us a bunch of times before we finally understood how we were supposed to spread it, because we tried a Venn diagram formation with them after all the markers ended up stacked.
Been farming Ridorana Lighthouse for some coins lately now that it's unlocked, don't know what's happened to the quality of parties but Famfrit is now wiping raids, sometimes multiple times. It's kind of depressing seeing the adds go completely untouched and kill everyone.
I was actually surprised my first Ridorana run after the patch was relatively... sane? Our DPS was a liiiiiittle on the low side but the death toll was really low as well. And a lot of the deaths that did happen were mostly towards the end of fights and could have been prevented if our damage had been higher.
The only Ridorana Madhouse moment that brought a sense of order and stability back to my universe and reassured me that, yep, it's still Ridorana, was during Butters' add phase. Two of the adds literally swapped places and the alliances that pre-positioned to fight them got very confused and so many people (including me) ended up running back and forth between them, stack markers frantically chasing after people, the usual... and then they swapped AGAIN to their original positions, cue even more confusion.
Somehow we managed to get the adds in time and just barely destroyed the Heart. I think it was at like ~98% by the time we got it. We were like one GDC away from a wipe XD
All in all, Ridorana is still Ridorana. Never change, Ridorana! <3
Suzaku went pretty well, with only a couple wipes before we got things down.
My first run through The Burn was fine up until the final boss. That thing hits like a freight train loaded with nuclear warheads. Combine that with the faulty (wrong size and/or badly timed) AoE telegraphs and its a recipe for heaps of wiping and frustration.
Arboretum Hard was pretty simple until the final boss which resulted in a lot of death until we figured out what was going on.
Alphascape 1.0 was almost too easy. One-shotted it without any trouble at all. 2.0 was pretty simple once we knew what moves did what. 3.0 was wipe town because SE loves using confusing nautical terms too much. 4.0 is the definition of hell as a healer. Even with Pentamelded HQ i380 gear healing that was a nightmare. OMG is right, SE. That's exactly what I thought when the damage just didn't stop coming in.
Just in case you haven't seen it, here ya go! https://img00.deviantart.net/d453/i/...an-dclpr5g.png
Ok, so it turns out an i370 Paladin can heal itself and a competently dodging DPS through the latter two bosses of Arboretum.
Learned from experience.
Tanks still taking tank busters in DPS stance, without ANY COOL DOWNS, getting killed by an auto attack right after and then blaming the struggling healers who are trying to heal everyone else too because it's new content and no one is geared up yet.... Ok yeah I'll just keep spamming Cure II on you and run out of MP cause your dps is all that matters.
Edit: I was gearing my healer on an alt that has her tank geared, and I really didn't wanna tank cause It makes me nervous as all heck. but it was taking longer to gear than I thought it would so I said YOLO, and what do you know.
Not a single wipe.
Not even a week old and I've already kicked someone from Alphascape. Off to a good start!
What happened? Friend and I were spamming O11N for drops. While most of our runs were relatively decent, we had one instance where I was getting dangerously low on HP repeatedly. At one point, I flat out died to autos and on our third attempt, I had to pop both Vengeance and Rampart just to survive the buster + autos. Even with my friend spamming heals (she was on Astro), it often wound up with her having to choose between me or the party.
Where was her co-healer? Good question! They literally weren't healing or DPSing. In fact, they spent the majority of the run flailing around or just standing still. And the worst part was they weren't new. When I finally called them out, they chimed back "Guess I should heal the tank..."
https://i.kym-cdn.com/entries/icons/...e57258202f.jpg
Wow. At least they weren't like the healers you run into where they're almost always at max mp and then yell at the other healer for being a slacker.?
Ah yes, the players who join as a role but can't be arsed to fulfill that role properly. Yesterday, I queued up for 70 roulette as tank and ended up in temple of the fist with bard, smn and sch. I'm thinking "oh sweet, everything's gonna melt like butter".
I couldn't have been more wrong and the culprit was the bard of the non barding variety.
After we clear the first moss wall, I start mass pulling. I reach the next wall, pull up my defenses, pop IR and my other war buff and let it rip. The pack takes so long to die that I manage to pop IR twice, which usually only happens in boss fights. Confused, I first ask myself if the party isn't up to snuff or maybe its a gear thing. Nope, gear's fine. I move onwards.
We reach the first boss and that's when I notice what's wrong: no song buff, no FR from bard. Caustic bite is manually re-applied every 5-6 secs. Stormbite finally shows up a full 30 secs after the fight starts. We finally manage to down the boss and I stop to type this: "Hey (Player Name), can you play songs in every fight from here on out please?".
We move onto the next zone. I pull the two horse monsters and notice the brd hasn't popped in yet. I almost think he was maybe busy typing in something but he finally shows up and to my surprise, he plays a song. I'm thinking "alright, now we can get the melting started". We clear the mobs and I proceed to pull all the stone wall mobs to the next closed point.
There was no melting.
The bard plays one song, no FR. The buff runs out...and that's it, no more encores. Meanwhile the poor SMN and SCH, who clearly are putting everything into killing things almost run out of resources. I sigh and we make our way to next boss. Same thing. One song played, caustic bite re-applications every 5-6 secs, stormbite comes late, yadda yadda.
After that, I stop mass pulling and almost feel like I should apologize to the SMN and SCH for making them work extra when it's clear to me that we're a party of 3 and a half. I pull one pack at a time, we reach final boss and we clear. At that point, I wanted to tell the bard that if this was a job they leveled in potd or HoH, they should start practicing from low leveled duties like brayflox and move upwards or just have some one on one sessions with dummies and see how songs work. But the healer says tyfp and I just abandon the notion. I say tyfp as well, exit and see that I got 2 comms.
Honestly, all this made me think about forum discussions when we're talking about player skill levels and what we're expecting. I've never entered an expert or 70 dgn duty and expect savage level performance but you have tools, tools that if you don't use them to a certain degree, you'll be playing at a level that's either very base or lower. Foregoing at nearly all times the use of these skills means everyone else is going to be making up your part equal to the level of playstyle detriment you choose to engage in.
To the smn and healer who were in my party, sorry for not noticing sooner and not adjusting the pace sooner as well. You guys did great.
I just ran a Hell's Kier run, had at least one new person doing it so I thought to myself 'Okay, this will be an easy run we got 7 people who has done this before, can't possibly wipe!' And immediately on the first group of phoenixes, no one attacks their birds besides me cause I was samurai atm and when I was half way done killing it everyone started to kill their own birds but then we wiped when it did Ashes. After the respawn I then thought to myself 'There is no way these people forgot about basic mechanics right? you kill the adds, dodge the aoe's, rinse and repeat, but not this party. Before we even get to the DDR portion of the trial someone dies and gets revived, and when DDR starts, someone intentionally looks in the wrong direction and started to feed the fire birb the blue balls of death. And to make it even sweeter for me, after the bird turns into a hot chick, the team starts dying cause they decide to stand in the pizza slices when they explode and get hit by aoe's or in the case of our RDM, jumped off after his combo which was beautiful to watch.
I swear its like people are just terrible in following mechanics, no wonder Eorzea doesn't have cars yet, cause no one listens to the mechanics XD
To be fair, the content is now going on 4 days old. I've cleared the fight once myself, but there are still several mechanics in the fight I'm fuzzy on, and I imagine there will be something I forget on my 2nd run. There are probably a lot of people in that same boat. A bit of patience and understanding goes a long way when content is new :)
I got threatened with a vote kick for singing the Great Mighty Poo song while waiting for the cutscene on St Mocianne's final boss.
This^. I did the fight once on tuesday(first thing i unlocked and finished actually). There were a couple mechanics that im not sure i was doing right, and i havent been back. I mean, yeah id have been killing the adds - you almost always kill the adds. But i wouldnt be a flawless performer in that party either. I think i got exploded twice in that first fight before i figured out what i was supposed to be watching(and even then, i couldnt always match those symbols in the heat of battle - need more practice i guess).
But did you carry on as the death cs played?
