Leveling my last job AST and want running current dungeons , because i was really bored of crafting full set every two lvl. It was good, i liked that job, but when you meet some players with 200ilvl legs and maybe 100ilvl ring and doing big pull... eh. Im little bit bad in AST between cards/healing but im sure it will be diffucult for my WHM too. Why people are so unresponsible to run this content, refuse to buy shire gear with poetics at least :/
edit: sorry i just wrote and wrote... just another Bardam Mettle healer horror stories :D with ungeared but good tank, at least nobody was telling something bad about my skills, but i feel always bad when people dies around me and we wipe even its not my fault

My alliance roulette on PLD yesterday was one of the most pleasant and competent Syrcus Towers (and even 24man raids in general) that I've ever been a part of.
Started off noticing we had 3 BRDs and Peloton wasn't wearing off at all while someone watched the opening cutscene so I said "Need moar Peloton" and the chat started from there. One of our healers was also very excitable and that spilled over into Alliance chat so we got the other groups involved as well.
There were no tank standoffs and minimal deaths overall, we even killed Amon before Curtain Call finished casting! I don't think I've ever seen that before.
It was just so nice to see something that's generally rather unpleasant (tanking alliance roulette) turn into legitimately the nicest part of my day. If any of you read this I really wish I could comm you all - everyone deserved one! Thank you for helping restore a bit of my faith in pugs.
Also I am very sorry to the DRK MT for pulling off of you on Amon/Xande - I only have the threat combo at 50 as well as a DoT that increases enmity. I promise I wasn't trying to. I wish it was possible to Shirk anyone in an alliance ;-; -

Did a Heaven on High as RDM. The 3 with me were DRGs. So instantly thought to myself "Awwwwww ****........"
2 tanked the floor on floor 21-23. All 3 tanked the floor on floor 24 27 and 29. Spite throwing vercures and dpsing as efficiently as possible, they would get clipped by aoes, stand infront of invisible telegraphs, run off in different directions setting off traps or getting multiple mobs at once, then on floor 29 I got a heart attack when the three all ran towards a silver chest, blew up on a landmine, popped the chest, it blew up K.Oing all 3, two mobs spawned where they were, instantly raised one, then bolted to the Revive switch to get the other two.
Then one of them asked "Why is this so hard?" Another then said "Yea, we keep dying" then the third went "Maybe we are just bad?" in which I responded....
"Its not any of that at all, you three are simply living the now 16 year curse of the LOLDRG"
They didnt understand what that meant. Told them to look up FFXI. Killed the boss then left, and took some advil for my stress headache.

Was playing my alt. THM about to go into Titan story mission for the first time. Que up and get a nice party, all relatively new to the content so we wipe a few times but keep going. One of retries everyone but me dies and we have Titan down to about maybe 6 more hits so I'm running my ass off casting and fleeing. This was before THM lost Cure so I was pretty set for health and the whole party was cheering me on. I felt like a real badass. Then the bastard gaols me and the fight ends. Surprisingly we managed to defeat him before the timer runs out, but I couldn't get anyone's info (me and the tank met at the entrance and partied up) because I got disconnected immediately after the clear.

I mean, I'm not that great of a tank, and I still mostly pull wall-to-wall in 70 dungeons. The only one that makes me a little nervous is after the second boss in Hells' Lid. The damage from those mobs feels a lot spikier than anywhere else in any of the three current experts. I gauge that one by how well the healer's been doing up to that point in the run. -

I usually just do that section after the 2nd boss in 2 pulls unless they specifically ask for it all at once. Those tatsunoko hit ridiculously hard. Its not fun when the tank decides to aim even one of them at the rest of the group either. Had that happen way too many times.

In my opinion a healer or dps who wants to run ahead is a healer or dps who wants to tank whatever they aggro. Early on, people were very nice and helpful. Then, as I started getting into the high 50's and 60's, it changed. I thought I could play OK. I do alright in the main storyline duty's

As it turns out, I'm not that good and I'm just wasting the "elites" time. I try to do well, I really do, but I just can't keep up.

So now, when I come to a dungeon in the main storyline. I stop there for the night. I go online and try to research the dungeon so maybe, just maybe, I'll not be too much of a burden to these "elites" that have already done it a dozen times and are just looking to speed-run it and rack up experience.

I wish I could try the dungeon "cold" at least once, I wish I could explore the dungeon and find the hidden secrets, I wish I could socialize with the people I'm meeting in game. Isn't that also part of the game?

Maybe the Devs should create an "Elites Only" Duty Roulette and Duty Finder. I'd be happy to stay out of their way.. -

Also, I didn't even map Toto-Rak until I ran it with my squadron. You don't get every dungeon with them, and there's only Sohm Al post-50 right now, but I find for what's available you can just pootle about finding all the places you wouldn't ordinarily. If you have that option, consider it!
I've had the odd run when a player has simply asked upfront if all corners can be uncovered. If the party doesn't want to do that, spam the dungeon again until you get one that does - you'll also be better at said dungeon after taking lots of passes at it (this is what I've been doing on alts in sub-50 content, and honestly, it works, and I think I'm a better player for it).
And lastly, any time you go into a new dungeon, tell your party it's your first time (make a macro for it if you like!). If you haven't been in there for ages, and think you might be a bit wonky, tell your party. Do your best, and endeavour to improve where possible. You will get there! And don't worry about the jerks. You can and will become a better player with time/practice/etc., but they will always be arses! That said, do still try to follow what they're saying, and find something constructive in it. They may fail entirely at communicating their thoughts in an empathetic kindly manner, but there could be useful information contained within. Ignore the elitist stuff (you know, the bobbins that usually starts "how come you got this far without knowing how to...?" and also may contain misspelled words and/or expletives), and poke about for anything that will actually help you.
Finally, if I've completely misunderstood your post, pls ignore and have a lovely day! Carry on, don't mind me, etc. :D -

You now have almost 5 mins to freely explore and take in the sights. Most modern dungeons dont have a ton of skip-able enemies, so you arent likely to be attacked at all while you look around. And for socializing, most people do this via LS and FC, but you can get chatty dungeon groups too. If you start a run by saying something like "Hello, how is everyone tonight?" or "Im new/havent run this dungeon in a few months, anything i should remember?" you might get nothing but silence in return. But you also might start people talking, and once started some dont stop. Me? I go with the group. If everyone is quietly doing their job then i go about melting enemies and thats that. Try this(along with bringing friends of course) the next time you get to a new duty and see if it helps. And of course, feel free to come back and ask if theres something you think you need help with. There are plenty of friendly and helpful people on these boards.
Side note: The next major content patch will probly be in september. It should contain 2 dungeons, 1-2 trials(story and extreme modes), and the next 4 tiers of the Omega raid series(story and savage modes) - along with 8-12 quests advancing the story forward(and crafting recipes, side quests, and assorted other business). If youre 62 today you have a good chance of being caught up 2 months from now. On patch day everyone is running their dungeons/trials/raids cold - guides start to slowly filter in later on in the day but almost no one expects you to have read them(and you can just avoid the people who do). In the past when ive had patch days off of work, spending that morning running around and doing all sorts of things totally blind(with a group all the same) has always been a ton of fun and its how ive met some of my in-game friends. In general, most players are super cool for at least the first week or so after a patch as not everyone gets to new content at the same speed. You could set this as a medium-term goal for yourself as motivation if you want: Be on the front lines for the next set of dungeons/trials/whatever content you enjoy the most. Best of luck! -

While we tend to humor players might get excitable and pull things because they tab-target the wrong mob, the tank is not going to drag the crowd to the mob the DPS pulled, nor is the healer going to cast healing on the DPS when the DPS is kiting the mob to avoid taking damage for the same reason. Some mobs you can get away with this if they only cast cone AOE's, but most just keep hammering on you, and a DPS lasts maybe 5 seconds without the tank taking enmity from them. If you DPS and you accidentally pull a mob, bring it to the tank.Quote:

A baby pull is one group. A big pull is two nearby/consecutive groups. A wall-to-wall pull, it trying to take everything from the entrance to the first boss. This a failure most of the time. But once the oGCD's are spent, you're going to waste at least two minutes doing baby pulls till those reset. I'm simply of the mindset that there is /zero/ reason to let anyone intentionally die in a run, unless what they're doing is hostilely trying to wipe the group. Statistically, you're likely to never see them again anyway, so there's even less of a reason to. -

You are taking on the first group of mobs and everything is going fine...then a DPS runs ahead and pulls the rest of the mobs to you.
So you desperately try to pull them off of him so he won't get murdered, you succeed, but promptly get killed yourself because those guys hit pretty hard, then the rest of the group gets utterly destroyed. Wipe. -

All 3 tanks even have a god mode button for situations like this. WAR even has 2 immunity skills, since IR + SC is basically god mode, even on that pull. Hallowed Ground only lasts for 10 seconds, and Rampart and Sentinel only offers a 20% and 40% damage reduction respectively, which only does so much when you are getting ganged up on by a large group of mobs who hit like a truck while the healer is not paying attention. -

Try it as a dark knight with a subpar healer. Watch as Walking Dead runs out and you drop dead because they missed it, or blew CDs on something else, or were too busy trying to push their own DPS. It's happened to me enough times to be wary about it.
I'm not saying it can't be done in one pull, if everyone's on point. I'm saying you're not guaranteed to have everyone on point in duty finder. Pulling two groups is faster than trying to overpull, wiping, and having to redo it all anyway. Gauge the group as you go and decide if they can all handle it.
And it's weird to me that it's just that one pull. Why is that one group so dangerous when nothing else in current Experts comes close? -

Coming from someone who has dealt with a new player’s silence being met with scorn from sharing mechanics (“Don’t give me spoilers!”), and a new player who said nothing but wanted advice (“Why didn’t you help me?!”), it is nice to at least know when a newbie wants help. I like the earlier suggesting of using the Party Finder as well. That may ultimately solve my problem. I mean, I get it, there are a class of players with a lot of experience that want to find like players so they can run these dungeons quickly. Then someone like me drops in and it just frustrates them. This is why I think the Devs should consider "Experts Only" versions of their Duty Finder and Duty Roulette. They've clearly made the effort to make this game more friendly to beginners and, by giving the expert players a space of their own, this could further help them accomplish that. The experts can still drop in on the regular dutys whenever they'd like but at least now they'd know they don't have to deal with noobs like me when they don't want to.

Don't let these little setbacks get you down. Trust me, there are a lot of very experienced players who still refuse to use cooldowns, or DPS as healers, or whatever it is. All kinds of players are different...it just may be you've had some bad runs with them, that's all. Don't be afraid to ask for help, whether in an instance, on the forums, or in Discord. There are plenty of people that will help you if you ask. I don't much use Discord anymore, but I'm throwing my name in there to help as well. So tried HoH 21 to 30 as a DRK. Party is PLD and 2 WHM.
Barrier falls off and all 3 run in different directions like headless chickens. All die.
One complains in chat and asks why they are dead.

Tank runs off to the literal other side of the map as Estinien brings up the barrier, dying, causing me to waste mana to raise him and thus fail.
BLM refused to shoot the Sable Price.
I've run The Aery as Tank, as DPS, and this was my fourth time doing it as healer.
Hydaelyn have mercy I nearly lost it. Then the tank and one DPS left, we get replacements, and the RDM and I finish Nidhogg in one go.

Tried the Hraesvelgr battle twice so far. I know the green pathways are how I avoid falling off the columns, haven't successfully got it to work yet. Ok with the Mog boss and the Pegasus, just haven't figured out how to stay on the columns yet.

Also, while I play Bard mostly, I also play White Mage, but lower level. I like the healer mechanic. Healing is primary but "heal spamming" is too extravagant of magic points. Ok with doing damage as a healer assuming the party is staying healthy but try to be mindful of drawing aggro, although there is a spell to reduce it. Even so, a dead healer is a devastating hit to a party. Seems best to lay low and keep the DPSs and Tanks healthy.

Ran Skalla with a bonus BRD in the group. Only "song" he ever played was Peloton.
I don't blame him/her tough, I blame SE. First came the Vishap nerf and then the Jump Potions. That's why we now have groups timing out on Castrum Fluminis NM and BRDs who Peloton in the midst of a pull. -
