Oh I agree, which was partly the reason I chose to join the discussion. I have the utmost faith in these forums and their intended purpose. I wouldn't frequent them as often as I do, if I didn't have the faith (again, "hopeless optimist" :p ). It was more a compliment to the community team for "wading" through the forums for any type of insight (in this thread, and elsewhere). I suppose I should have rephrased what was said a little less absurdly. Apologies for any confusion (I still tip my hat to them).

While I can get the idea behind keeping the "Job stuff" job linked for the identity of the job I don't understand why we can't have the restrictions left for some of the basics stuff like the Hempen Camise for example.

I actually saw many people in this thread offer compromises and concede compromises on both sides. The two ideas you posted when you entered this thread have actually already been posted by other people earlier actually so unfortunately you didn't give us new ideas.

So idk...you might want to read the whole thread before you say that so many aren't willing. You kind of admitted you only read a few pages in another post so your statements about the majority mentality of the people in the thread kind of holds no water. Nor is you calling the thread selfish and silly because of a few pages out of 40. Also saw a lot of people just post "I agree" or "I don't agree" and left it at that and someone isn't automatically selfish just for agreeing or disagreeing with something about a game.

A lot of people have conceded to opening up most of the gear for glamour; including me.

Like only around 10% (max, and probably being generous) of the gear in the game is job locked to one job only. I personally already compromised my stance where you guys can have that 90% of the gear how you want it: no glamour restrictions, but leave that 10% job locked gear restricted since it is part of the FF franchise image to be designed and locked for those jobs.

So that is 90% of the gear in the game free from restrictions for everyone to use, while keeping that 10% job locked gear to respect tradition.

Unfortunately some people have said they still don't agree with this. Some on my side and quite a bit of the other side.

It's not just about a random healer piece, Celef. I'm totally ok with lifting restrictions from everything but the AFs; because they aren't just random clothes. Most of the thread is about "we want everything, if we don't have everything then that means we have nothing". Even if the AFs don't even represent 10% of the entire gear available.

And yes, would be great to be able to wear the version of the Hempen Camise that we want. :)

That's... Still not really a good reason (or excuse) for breaking things. Mostly because people have a limited creativity actually. Like... Here, a good example of what i keep seeing everywhere everytime :

I'm not saying it's a bad glamour, but people keep coming with the same things no matter what ; and removing what makes the AF unique won't change this.

So far, we are mostly all agree with lifting restrictions on most of the gear sets. But it's never enough because... Reasons ? Because someone wants some specific boots from another job, or someone else the gloves or whatever. I really like what the AFs are, and i'm still amazed to see people whining even if we are agree with removing restrictions on everything, but not on a few gear sets who have a real meaning for most of us and the dev team.

And again, we should ask for more diversity for the next gears than removing what make the AFs what they are ; this is also one of the main issues about the glamour system. But... Just imagine if they choose to remove most of the restrictions but not on the AFs, wouldn't it be already something great ? And mostly unlimited ?
Even if i'm sure people would keep coming with the hempen camise, the skirt and long boots. Haha

There are plenty of folks in this thread that have stated multiple times the only gear they are concerned about is Artifact Armors and would like them to be continually locked for lore/historical/artistic/identity reasons. Besides those, it literally opens the doors to hundreds of new possibilities.

But yeah there is quite a few of us totally fine as long as just the job locked gear stays locked to the jobs they represent. Like I've said I understand why people want more freedom to glamour; it is a lot of fun. Its just the game has made concessions already that mess with lore and tradition so it would be nice to keep the job locked gear at least.

I'd rather not remove a single restriction. Doing so would just start a slippery slope, and sooner or later people would start whining again about how they can't use AF specific pieces.

Well they need to be removed, we have 13 different jobs, so why not let us be creative, I'm of the mind now even tho on this post more people are in favor of op that Af gear doesn't really matter to me that much. So if its some people that would get so upset about it then leave it as is, but we need to be able to have the whole job specific gear restrictions removed. Like everyone says it ruins creativity, if you want to play jobs with a specific look its plenty of other games where you can only wear certain gear based on the job you picked at the beginning of the game. Other people here that love their Af gear at least would compromise with allowing glamour of everything else, you just seem to be stuck on making us play this game like its another game where you only get one job option per story line run and can only wear that one specific classes gear.

Conversely, your stuck on making people like me, that like the restrictions the way they are, play the game like it's literally every other MMO where visual identity is meaningless because anyone can look like anything. I don't like those other mmo's because invariably every option becomes a carbon copy of everything else, because it's all generic. What's stifling people's creativity isn't the glamour system in place, it's themselves.

It's definitely not going to be removed anyway.

I would love it if they removed the restrictions for the crafting sets so I can actually use them on my Ironworks gear, but because of the downward spiral it would inevitably create, I can understand why they won't.

Having limits doesn't really stifle creativity, it just sets the playing field in which you are allowed to explore. I wish there were many things in this game that were open and free to do whatever we wanted with, but it will just become too chaotic.

and I know that it's just glamour, it's not game breaking or anything, but allowing too much freedom in anything can be detrimental in the long run.

You can't allow some freedoms, any deny others. it will cause backlash, and then it would too late to take back any of it. and seeing how important glamour is to the community, it can truly break the game in the end.
