At least this!! What's the use in saying "World is full, come back later!"?? Put us in a queue, with thousands of other players and I'll at least have the slightest idea when I can play. Not even that. But hey, it's not like MMOs have had that for like 10 years now.
You pay for a service you should recieve that service. End of statement.
The fact that , that is not happening is Part of the consumer industry Complications constantly arise from supply not being able to meat demand , There is only so much you can plan for.
I appreciate his willingness to accept the responsibility. However in saying that there are methods that they are not yet employing that could dampen this terrible over sales fallout.
Instigate ques instead of just a blanket tough luck comment when you log in " Wait for an open spot" umm just so you know most gamers(i say most cause you never know) do not have esp so knowing when an open spot becomes available = spamming start selecting character and crossing fingers.
Put accounts on times rotation limit gameplay to 1 hour then force that account to log off and be in hiatise (spelling) for 1 hour in order to give all gamers a go...now i know that implementing that sort of cueing cannot be done live but surely safeguards could have been put in place before launch.
Ok so no one couldve seen the immense sub scription response but with a hugely popular franchise better to be safe than sorry preperation for the ineviatble was poor.
sadface at level 3 lol
You can plan all you want but nothing is guaranteed. Games at first launch 80% of the time have issues sometimes huge issue, but if you want to complain, complain all day but that's not going to fix anything. They know about the issues, its getting fixed. Now tell me, what exactly do you want from them? A game that should work as intended? Well then, let SE snap their fingers and I'm sure it'll work right away.
Now I can understand the frustration and the anger from all of this, but my point is: The game has its issues right now, whether it was "poor planning" or whatever, it happened, and they are working on it. You can either wait it out until its fixed or quit and toss the game away. Your choice, but going around complaining and being angry constantly isn't going to change the situation, although, people will do what they wish.
Wrong. In the real world of business they had no reason to expect a grand success from this reboot. The first version of their game was regarded as a total failure, why would they expect such a turn out for this one? Also regarding que it's there is one you just don't see it most of the time.
The queue is random. I've had world full for 2 hours before to get put into a queue of 60 people. I've also gone straight to a queue of 300 people. That isn't a working queue system. Also half the time the queue is a lie. It will give you a world full error WHILE you are in the queue. So please don't make excuses for them. They DO NOT have a working queue system.
I don't understand your logic. The whole point of rebooting the game was to GET better sales figures. Otherwise, why would they have even bothered at all? If Squenix really wanted to just cut their losses and run, they would've just shut down the servers from the first FFXIV and focused their efforts back onto FFXI. And in the real world of business, as you call it, they had a beta and preorder figures and A PREVIOUS MMO to tell them what they should have expected in terms of day 1 sales.
Japan's servers are working fine. NA/EU is not, because Squenix did not pay attention to those numbers. It's as simple as that. They're at fault, and I don't understand how people can sit here and say otherwise.
I paid $29.99 plus tax for a substandard service, of course I'm annoyed. That said, I was expecting a rough release as with other MMO so I'm not all too surprised that the game is barely playable this past week. What I want to know is that, when dust is all settled (getting more servers online and operational), will SE extend our 30 days free playing time for the substandard service they've provided thus far?
Japan's servers are not working fine. They have the 1017 or w/e error and have full worlds just like NA/EU.
If every server was maxed out right now we would have 250k people playing. That's less than what the amount of total users they have currently in their predictions, keeping in mind they have stopped selling the game temporarily. I have to say I'm pretty fucking impressed with how much they are doing to treat the game well. All the complaints now are just a result of people frustrated that they cannot play. Tell you what how about you go try snailgames USA age of wushu out and then come back here and see if you can complain.
Honestly these complaints are fucking laughable.
1.They did not shut the servers down and say fuck it no more game for those of you who have it. They did what they could to keep it running.
2.They did not waste time with a afk kick like everyone asked for because thankfully they know that wouldn't solve jack diddly.
3.They halted sales of their product elsewhere and removed pending charges because they KNOW they don't want anyone else stepping into this pile of a mess they have.
4.They have stated that they are going to attempt to probably extend the trial because of these problems or look for a way to make this right.
5.They are working on the problem, providing updates on the situation all the freaking time.
This company is bending over backwards to do things right. Cut them some slack.
Yes honestly its infuriating and just encourages me to stay logged in so I wont have to deal with it again, even if it means someone else can't log in because of it. As someone else has said I dont cares the waiting quie is 5000 people, thats understandable at least. Whats not is saying unable to update the list when I can go to another site that says they're still up or giving me a world full error. ALWAYS give me the queue even if its huge. Thats all that needs to be done
Are you fucking kidding me? An AFK kick is a waste of time and wouldn't solve anything?
"Going to ATTEMPT TO extend the trial" what, like they're going to have some kind of block that prevents them from doing that, other than greed? It's their company, they call the shots. If they want to do it they will, and if they don't want to, they won't. It's that simple.
There's literally no reason for these problems to not be at least alleviated somewhat within 48 hours. Setting up new servers is not difficult, and should not be difficult for a company that large. I'm not sure what the hell they're doing, but whatever it is, they sure are dragging their asses on it.
"Bending over backwards" omg. Go outside. You bother me.
The fact so many people are already near the level cap would suggest that theres a large number who havnt logged out since the last maintenance, I've managed to get 2 levels since beta 4 finished...
i agree with zombiefiers 100% its beyond anoying now
Kicking AFK players wouldn't solve the problem. There would simply be others who log in that take their place, making the servers full again. It could act as an assist.....but the only real fix is improved data center and server capacity.
They didn't really say attempt......they said they are considering 'what' to do. This means they are planning to do something, but haven't decided what all they'll do yet.
And while physically setting up servers isn't hard.......setting up interlinked servers and configuring them to work alongside already existing servers, while checking the settings along the way does take time. Would you prefer they instantly patchwork something together that then ruins a database messing up everything requiring MORE time to fix?
They gave a plan. They gave a time frame.
Let them get that done.
While I do completely agree with the OP here, I do have to say, they KNEW how many copies of the game they sold, that excuse of "we didn't know" is a bit moot. They have record of every copy of the game sold from retailers/their own site. So sorry, I won't bite that excuse. I have nothing but respect for them, I just feel I've not been given much by way of respect in return. Yay, they're fixing the servers/buying more servers, that's great, don't get me wrong, but they should have seen "Hey our servers can only hold 5000 players safely.... we sold 10x that.." before the EA even hit.
The most annoying part for me is they should have had these new servers they're installing up and running for the weekend. The server load is going to be at its worst now that everyone is off work. I've already scratched off playing this game at all this weekend as a lost cause.
OP is a valiant white knight
If you guys have a problem with the game - why not just ... leave? Go play Tera or League of Legends. More queue space for me.
I have no problem with the game. When I get to play it its really fun. My problem with the game is that in order for me to play it I have to sit and click start and character over and over for about 30min to an hour. I get it's new but they could have looked back on other mmo launches and looked at the short-comings and not had this happen. At least to the extent that its at now. Its cool that we might get free play time but that means nothing when you can't play.
Knee jerk responses like yours LionheartQ is one of many reason 1.0 fail horribly.
No one here wants to be told they can not play, I am legacy member and I can not play unlike the rest of you that actually get time added for your troubles I fight to get in not only to play but to you know save what little time I have left because I am not getting any time added back to my account for all these issues that have been going on.
They need to setup a nice queue list, so people don't have to guess for a time to enter......
Well they need to do something, DDOSing aka spamming the login servers because no queue and error 1017 is not very smart, and I can not my alt or my main as both are legacy characters and are locked, so it is not like I can move freely from server to server like new players can.
I have to keep spamming to get into my legacy server day after day.
That or be selfish and stay logged in once I get in and never log out...
While I'm all for waiting and giving the opportunity to fix this situation........I despise when people use this quote.
It doesn't apply to purchased material that has issues. It only applies to either F2P games, or no real issues.....the customer just doesn't like the game. this situation has to do with the technical end.
And not saying you are......but that is a favorite quote done by fanboys. I don't think you'd want to be associated with them as they tend to lack rational thought and understanding.
There actually is a queue list.....but it's too much for it to really display anything.....except for the very non-peak hours.
You can tell that they vastly underestimated the amount of players simply by how many quests are situated in the towns at the beginning of the game. All I see is a wall of text half the time I've played.
1017 is a complete cope-out error. Tells you to try again when the opening is available, doesn't tell you anything about available openings leaving you to spam the log in like the thousands of other people trying to get in. Fix your damn servers, its been over a week and all we have had are some stupid in game bug fixes.
Well Ill tell you what, in-game errors don't mean shit if you CANT GET INTO THE GAME.
Server congestion causing thousands of paying customers to not have access during their free time?!?? lets wait a week+ to fix this issue
Duplicated Artifact items!?!?!? we will get on that right away!!
Good information OP, but I take issue with the whole we're "all playing it for free."
We paid for those 30 days. No one in their right mind sells a game and then charges you again before you can actually hop on and play. Doing that would simply enrage buyers. It would be more correct to say we bought a "bundle package" that includes the game and the initial 30 days.
I personally believe SE will (eventually come out and say that they will) compensate us for these "hard" times, which will reimburse us for the duration that the game was inaccessible. If they still have their wits, they would compensate at a ratio of 1.5x to 2+x for lost time because it wasn't just lost time, it was a frustrating and irritating time for most, which demands higher compensation. I think this is likely to happen, given SE's history.
Lastly, this is a given, but SE has horrible PR and tech support. I'm assuming this is due to them not having dedicated full-time positions like forum moderators who would be able to better mitigate all the hate that has been running wild in the forums. That's a shame and I hope they tackle that issue as well.
I'm happy that they're adding more servers. I just really, really hope that they're going to let people transfer away from the already over-congested servers soon. I don't think adding more servers is going to alleviate the problems on the current servers unless people have an incentive to leave. It would be really nice if the transfers were 'free' but I'm sure a lot of people would be willing to pay to go to the new servers as well.
Sweet! I found the SE fanboys apologist thread! I was wondering where it was this whole time.
Let me sum up my thoughts on the matter.
JUST
PUT
ME
IN
A
FUCKING
QUEUE.
