A Relic Reborn Walkthrough

Simple: lie and say you've done it before. :)

As long as you don't obviously mess up, they won't really know. The only actual drawback to never having done is if you're doing in there with really bad gear, cause it's a bit of a dps check. If you know the boss mechanics (easy to find online), then you'll be golden and they'll never know you don't know it. Honestly, it's not a hard dungeon, it just requires people to know the fights, and have a certain minimum of gear.

Could you please confirm that you had to kill zaharak archers, and that you aren't subject to the same bug as PLD which really needed thaumaturges

I have killed as I claimed. There was no bug or glitch during the quest whatsoever. I can guarantee that.

Just wanted to add that if you have beaten the story, you do not need to have beaten Aurum Vale to access Ampadore Keep. you cannot flag the quest in Vesper bay, but if you have cleared the Darkhold, your Grand Company will also give you a quest to clear ampadore keep, which lets you in regardless of whether you have beaten AV or not. (this worked for me in Twin adder, not sure if all GC's give the Keep mission)

Does anyone know if you have to have the Unfinished weapon equiped when fighting/killing the Hydra, or can you equip a better weapon once you're in the instance?

Yes, it clearly states in the quest discription that you need to use the Unfinished relic to defeat the Hydra.

Harder? or more like more boring and tedious?. Doing Hamlets was not hard just boring, and the drop rate horrible. Spiritbonding the Unfinished while solo? was it hard? nope, just and incredible boring time sink.

I like what they did with Relic, they stripped the obvious timesinks that did not require skill, but lots of free time and luck, and replaced them with Fun Content that do require skill to do it.

Can anyone confirm what's required for the +1 upgrade? I've heard Mythology, but it'd be good to know for sure so we can plan our purchases.

I believe Myth will be involved, but probably in a similar manner to how phil was involved towards the end. Probably need alot more though.

For those who are interested, although I never doubted this thread, I confirmed for 1.0 players that you need to finish main story and redo the job quests. However thats it to unlock the quest. Obviously if you need to do AK you need access to it, either by AV or GC (as stated above)...however not to actually access the quest.

For me personally, I remember I left off collecting beastmen currency in 1.0 (despite my last post here), I ended up in 2.0 on AK. So if you are the same, you should end up in the same spot :P.

To upgrade to Relic+1 you need 3 Thavnarian Mists which are sold by Rowena for 300 Mythology Tombs apiece. Only exception is Curtana/Holy Shield which needs 2 Thavnarian Mists for Curtana, and only 1 for the Holy Shield. You can see what they require by selecting the forge by Gerolt in Hyrstmill.

Where does the Materia III comes from? I mean. I know how to meld items into Materia, but how do I get the one I need for WHM?

i believe to access amdapor you dont need to have done aurum vale as there is another quest from your grand company that sends you to amdapor.

Me and my friends had to run AV to unlock AK. We confirmed we didn't get it before and we confirmed we got it after

Well hard can refer to more than just the level of skill difficulty. Was it hard to get hamlet seals? Yes because you were competing with 8 other people over an abysmal drop rate

To get tier III you need to spirit bond gear with an ilevel of 45 or more. The gear should be for the purpose as the material you want I.e. Mage gear will make magic-type materia

Vampire plant is from high level gathering as mentioned in my first post. Catalyst is the same grade as materia tier, so 3. Whm is the exception to the wanderers palace in that all the materials for the base weapon can be gathered. The item from Amdapor can only be gained while on the quest at the correct stage

From comments on the previous page it does appear as if there are 2 ways to access Amdapoor now, one through dungeon side quests starting with Aurum Vale and one through grand company quests. I will update first post

Where are the unfinshed/broken weapons found? In coffers in the strongholds or dropped from mobs? Also do you need to be on that part of the quest to obtain it or could you say get it theoretically at level 1? Thanks in advance

I got the quest for my whm and was on step 6 but then i changed my mind and want the quest for my bard instead can i just abandon the quest and back to step 1?

Yea I did the quets and it required the Bedesmen, Priests and Quarrymen. I was supposed to confirm it from the Journal and correct myself here but forgot. But yea, its the same ones as WHM.

I'm on the DRG relic and I can confirm that the 3 beastmen to be killed are Natalan boldwings, fogcallers, and swiftbeaks.
I went and actually killed them so I can confirm that they are correct for the kills and are not bugged

for step 8, 9 and 11-14, does it matter which weapon we use to kill them, as long we're using the job we're getting the relic for?

Can you only get 1 relic weapon? or can you repeat it on other jobs?

as sch my quest ask me for a "Erudite's Picatrix Of Casting" but in reality I need the healing one, right ?

I currently have a stardust rod, how do I upgrade it to the +1 version. I recently went to ffxivdb and noticed that it was in their database. I know I had to redo my blm quests, but do I have to redo a relic reborn again?

They appear in quest only coffers, much like finding the individual pieces of your AF. So you can only do this once on the quest.

Yes you can. If you want to do WHM again you will start from scratch

Thank you. Other classes sharing a beastcamp have variations in mob requirements so wanted to make sure that something breaking the pattern is correct

I think you might have to use the unfinished weapon on the Hydra fight in Halitai, but could use some confirmation for that stage and beyond

You can only do one weapon at a time, but you can so the quest over and over for all jobs. There is even an achievement for getting 9 relics

SCHOLAR asked you for CASTING? Oh please tell me they didn't bug it again by 'correcting' SCH instead of SMN. Can anyone else verify if the patch corrected WAR and SMN?

As far as I know you need x3 Thanvarian Mist which costs 300 tomestones of Mythology each (the one you get capped at). You can interact with the forge near Gerolt to see the cost of upgrades

1. You will be fine in AF up to and including Ifrit Hard. Garuda you will struggle and Titan you will struggle even more as it's a damn hard fight. While it's possible in theory I'd recommend you at least get some Darklight.

2. For most stages you need to be on the job you're completing a relic on.

3. Aside from the crafting items in Wanderer's Palace, yes.

4. Ampador Keep is by far the quickest way to farm tomes. If you speed run it (which may or may not be "fixed" in the future) you can run the whole instance in under 20 mins with a good group. This also drops both types of tomes.

*sigh* it has been reported that SMN quest is no longer accepting the Casting book like it should, so instead of fixing the weapon requirements they may have made it worse by getting SCH wrong too.

Right now, I couldn't tell you which one is correct. We either have to wait for a dev post or a response from other players on the same stage who report their success/failure with which kind of book

Not gonna lie, how are you guys doing all of this so fast? I'm from Valefor and I started on beta3 as well. With all the server errors I was never able to achieve very much in the game. Valefor was one of the 3 new servers that was installed during the server error ordeal. I'm guessing being on a new server it's pretty much impossible to find any of the items required on the Market because believe me, I've looked. None of the weapons were available to mount the materias nor any of the 3rd class materias are on sale on the Market. How are you guys coming by all these items so easily? The only way I can think of now is to actually do the dungeon to get the parts for picatrix of casting (I'm a 50smn that just got her magitek mount) or do the lv45 guildleves quests to obtain the parts for it. On top of all that. The highest alchemist on my server is level 30!!! What am I missing here do you guys have lv50 crafters running all ur server or something? I don't get it.

I'd say quite a few people doing relic quest would be legacy players who either had the quest partially completed and carried over from 1.0 or started fresh after powering through the story quest in a few hours on a r50 skipping CS and dialogue. Legacy servers also have many players in the '900 club' i.e. they had all battle, crafting and gathering classes at 50, so are capable of doing everything in game. There are at least 5 people in my LS that are around hydra stage. Personally I am still going through story quest in my own pace while leveling SMN to experience it fresh. I got my Artemis Bow in 1.0, but I will probably start working on other relics in a week or two.

But seriously tho, i'm amongst the few on the server to even have the magitek armor mount. And the market place shows up as all zeros on most of the items. I feel that you guys are light years away from us. Valefor is one of the 3 newly added servers after all so we have no 1.0 guys here. I guess I have to wait about a month to even start on this part of the quest ><

I just hit 50, and haven't started the quest yet or anything.

If I buy the weapon now will that mess something up, do I need to wait till that step to buy it?

it needs to be melded before u hand it in to him. so ask a crafter to meld it for u. or u can do it if you have the right craft.
