A strong WAR shouldn't need a lot of +enmity because their damage should be enough for them to get hate. Paladins, on the other hand, rely more on special abilities to get hate and thuss need the +enmity more. It's honestly a pretty simple concept.

If you have Garuda's Scream, I don't see why you wouldn't but that's not the arguement I've been making. Like I said, I got Garuda's scream on friday night and did that very thing, changed a ring to reach the STR cap. But I was only able to reach that cap because I have triple melded STR gloves, most people don't have such gloves. I think it's probably a toss up which may be cheaper, triple melded STR gloves or a double melded GG axe. I've blown up 40+ pairs of gloves trying to get another pair so that I can also hit the VIT cap, which has cost several million and I still don't have them. Is that cheaper than farming a GG axe for a double meld? Probably not.
Also 0.034 is 3.4% not .34%.
LIke I said earlier, I put the mimimum amount of enmity on the spreadsheet to gain more enmity than on Garuda's Scream. That's a tier II and a III, you could do two Tier IIIs for a larger gain, or as much as two perfect IVs. Regardless of the difference it still doesn't make my claim less valid. As much or more enmity (depending on the meld) is still as much or more enmity.
It was stated earlier in this thread that enmity can cap out at 1 more point than the BLMs, but if that's the percentage that gets you there, that's what's important, because it's the percentage that's gonna keep your BLM from getting eaten.
So your point is that, hypothetically, a colossally inept Warrior with a lot of money but terrible gear who spends his money multi-melding Rage IVs on Giantsgall War Axes instead of putting damage stats on legs/hands will generate slightly more enmity (and still several % less damage) than an equally terribly-geared Warrior with a Garuda's Scream? Well damn, how can I argue with that?
They wouldn't have to be inept, just undergeared but a bit lucky with a GG meld. A new player, or a casual player would fit the bill perfectly. Tying this back into the thread topic, that IS the type of player who skirmish is aimed at, after all. I'm simply playing devil's advocate to disprove an incorrect claim that Garuda's axe is always better than a GG axe. Quit trying to put words in my mouth.
You don't need two Touch of Rage IV, only a II and a IV, or two IIIs. You could get them very cheaply through spiritbonding. Not all materia is bought. You could also get the axe itself from farming skirmish. If you only had a crafted axe, or at best a moogle axe, then the GG axe with +enmity is a very attractive option. Not everyone is as lucky as myself to get Garuda's Scream on thier first win.
On the contrary, I think the fact that you can't see any reason why somebody would want to go that route is pretty inept.
Guys, if I spiritbond it myself then it's free.
Let's conceed that your Giantsgall produces more enmity when compared to a Garuda's Scream. When making that comparison you must assume that everything else remains constant (other gear, equal method of hate gain, equal party member gear and hate, etc).
The part that you're not taking into account is that if you deal less damage, then your DD's have 'increased' hate gain, not equal. If you are doing less damage, then your target has more HP that your DD's have to make up for. So, if everything is constant with you except for your Axe change, then there is a scenario in some fights where a BLM needs to cast extra spells or whatever, and that is the tipping point where the capability to deal more damage is more valuable then the enmity you receive for doing it.
Hmmm why can't ppl just accept Giantsgall weapons can have an use lol ...its not that complicated like every piece of gear in the game that is crafted is trash w/o materia on it same goes for GG weapons and they are good for the average player ... an upgrade to make it easier get the "best" stuff later...ppl getting butthurt by molly comparing the two Axes i guess their account included Garuda's scream when they started playing :P
nothing in this game is serious enough to justify this ridiculous thread.
I'll also point out that the spreadsheet posted valued Auto attack damage too high for Warrior and also valued Accuracy way too low for a tanking Warrior.
^ This pretty much is the bottom line... if you are capable of winning Garuda w/o issues you are too strong for it you have overcome that level ...syntaxlies wants harder mode skirmish? why didn't he mention moogles? darkhold? caravan? :P put a extreme mode on every thing lol aside from the fack this game is dying in a few days -_-;
This thread has turned into nothing more than a digital trough urinal. Its now just a big pissing contesting between who "knows" the most and is most "right." If brains were as deep as the shit in this thread you'd have craniums the size of tanker trucks.
Thank you for that insight
This thread has so much crap in it. Time to summarize points that actually make sense and call it a day.
- The Garuda Scream has better potential than a Giantsgall Axe with emnity melded to it.
- A Giantsgall is ONLY beneficial if you can't cap the stats of weapons that are stronger.
- Skirmish is for casual players who couldn't beat Garuda, so of course, it is a lesser weapon in potential.
My personal opinion:
Wait til 2.0. Otherwise, if possible get Garuda's Scream or a Grand Company axe of some sort. It is not difficult to reach cap stats even without Darklight. I did it on my Marauder without much difficulty. (MRD can't use Darklight.)
Lets be honest here, If you're going for a skirmish axe with +enmity, it's because you have a crafted axe or at best a moogle axe. If you could get enmity generation similar to Garuda's Scream vs that of the moogle axe, why wouldn't you go for it? Because I've got to agree with Raikki, in that if you have Garuda's Scream, why wouldn't you just cap your stats? Like I said, i did that very thing on Friday.
cap dem stats guys
and gals ;)
laugh out loud
I don't have a garuda's axe cause WAR is not my main but i put ACC on my GG axe seems like the smarter choice, I don't like to miss.
Garuda > GG + enmity/acc (go ahead and start disagree-ing, even for tanking purposes)
As for increasing the level on Skirmish, it would be a great idea, even for "hardcore" training.
This thread reminds me of those threads that say melding DEF to your PLD gear was totally not a retarded idea.
