Buff cap eating Panhaima on big raidwides is. lol
Whilst I don't know if a cap increase is the specific solution, I will say it's wild to dodge my "Confiteor Ready" buff when I cast Requiescat during Forked Tower and that shouldn't happen.
Yeah, this still hasn't been fixed.
Yesterday while doing M8S I had that problem on samurai too.
Ikishoten got eaten, but neither "Zanshin Ready" nor "Ogi Namikiri Ready" got applied. That's 2.940 potency simply gone while damage buffs are active.

Meikyo Shisui not giving me the Meikyo Shisui buff and the Tendo buff due to buff cap. Also my food buff got removed. Again if the buff cap cannot be raised then don't make it easier to reach that buff cap especially in exploration content like Occult Crescent.
Pointing out this example specifically, if the goal is to add an effect to an existing buff layer, like the level 78 regen, you can also just replace the old buff with a new one that does both. i.g. The Kerachole buff grants 10% mitigation, and changes to Kerachole+ (for lack of a better name at this time) which is the 10% mitigation and regen. The original Kerachole buff no longer applies.
And this applies to many different actions in the game. It’s not just that the buff limit is small, but that the game design is horribly inefficient with buffs.
And then there is Thrill of Battle on Warrior which reads:
"Maximum HP is increased.
Enhanced Thrill of Battle Effect: HP Recovery via healing actions is increased."
It says this even before learning Enhanced Thrill of Battle trait in level 78. So, you think they would make Kerachole like this as well right? Since Sage is designed in Endwalker with this trait in mind. It's baffling how inconsistent they're with buffs.
Edit: Another idea came to mind for abilities that have multiple buffs with different timers they can switch the buffs midway. Such as with Physis II. Example on how it could be written:
Physis II
Gradually restores own HP and the HP of the nearby party members as well as increasing HP recovered by healing actions by 10%
Cure Potency: 130
Duration: 10s
Grants Autophysis when the effect expires
Cure Potency: 130
Duration: 5s
This might mess up HoT ticks but I don't think it will cause that much issue for majority of playerbase.
Well it's a healer we're talking about, and the dev team seems to avoid spending time thinking about or working on healers as much as possible, even on minor things. Healers keep getting incredibly sloppy, last minute changes that sometimes are flawed, like the 6.1 Aero II/Dia situation. Or how about since its inception, the timer for a Black Mage's next Polyglot continues to count down even when Black Mage already has the maximum number of Polyglots, but neither Lilies nor Addersgall do the same. Once you're at 3, the timer for your next one won't start until you are back at 2. And don't even get me started on Draw/Play and its history.
That lack of care or interest in even just polishing the existing healer kits is truly something.
To bring this up again, in OC you could have as many 7 already before you even enter a fight. Food, 2 fc buffs, balanced party, phamtom mastery, you phamjob, and the rez restriction. THis isn't even counting other things like kardia and what not. They need to look into how consolidate and trimming because it will only get worse.
Bump, the issue keeps happening in FT all the time. It happened to me several times in my last run, as well as the PLD in my party losing the whole Confiteor combo again.
they also need to increase the debuff cap on enemy because in OC a mobs can be debuff so much that it would lose debuff
Personally I'd just like it removed since extending it out would just put a band-aid solution on the problem. But if that's not a viable option extending it out to 100 should hopefully stem the tide longer than 40 or 60.
Bumping because worried that the issue will get worse in the next OC zone they add whether its more permanent buffs taking up buff slots or buffs from new phantom jobs.
The addition of phantom Dancer's Quicker Step is another buff that will likely be present when running the Occult Crescent and especially the Forked Tower raids, which will make capping even easier. And yet there's no solution in sight... raise the buff cap, please!
The buff cap will also get worse every time they add new jobs and abilities as we go up in levels. Raising the cap is needed to help futureproof the game.
Yoshi did comment about that in the recent live letter to add more non-instanced content so hopefully in 8.x?
not that I think I'll ever encounter this personally since I tend to stick to pretty casual content, I still think this is a pretty big issue that should be fixed since it can, as seen, very legitimately impact gameplay. Support for sure, this really should not be that difficult to solve ("should not" being the emphasis because god knows SE's engine and code framework might not be so simple being as old as it is XD)
Ideally they would not just increase the cap to 40, 60, or any number but rather make it infinite. List or Stack data structures are pretty commonly used in modern design, I don't see why this count needs to be fixed at all
Yoshida has mentioned in the latest Q&A that they are looking into the buff cap and how it especially affects Field Operations. You can see the rest of the answers in the following link: https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comme...ive_theme_for/
