So I got the IS motorcycle and am island level 10.... Now what?

Seems like Island Sanctuary is actually this xpac's replacement for field ops (eureka, bozja). Like those, it's an open zone that you access via an npc and it has a duty-specific HUD to track your rank and stuff. Unlike those, it's gathering and crafting rather than battle content, but a baby version of those things that doesn't use doh/dol classes and mostly does stuff automatically.

Maybe they made the mistake of thinking a lack of manual activities would make it relaxing, but it actually feels more a waste of time and lonely. Maybe it will make more sense when they add more layers to it? Eureka began very unpopular, but some people liked it after pagos. I don't know what could make Island Sanctuary into something enjoyable unless they allow more customisation akin to housing or some casual minigames.

I feel like the mammet factory thing is directly taking up data storage that they could have used on making the island itself more customisable. The spreadsheet has the capacity to remember what we have placed in at least six production slots per day (up to 24 depending on how it's structured) multiplied by ten days and three workshops, so at absolute minimum that must be 180 things it can remember at any one time, with over 50 possibilities per slot.

Just imagine if we had even a fraction of that dedicated to individual decor choices instead! We could choose colours for the house, and even if they were just fixed slots, choose decorative objects to place around the room (if only they hadn't taken up most of the space with a shop). Choose our bed, choose the table and chairs and hammock seat and some garden elements around the house.

In short, we could have had a customisable building instead of a customisable production schedule making intangible items we don't get to keep.

There's a big difference between data that's processed in the background and more assets that are rendered on site. You can't just trade one for the other. Customization is likely to remain as limited and static as it is here.

As far as buildings go, Yoshi-P confirmed we're getting more.

No they dont really contradict each other. You as a customers are allowed to voice your opinions. Maybe some of the ideas posted may even influence futher products or in the case of ongoing games, future patches. But that does not mean that the producers or devs have to give up their direction of their product just because a customer said so.

If I create a meat free burger and your feedback is that it would be better with meat than its in your right to do. But that does not mean that I have to follow that. Instead I might still focus on my direction while you as the customer is free to go somewhere where they have the burger of your dream.

And again why should your opinion mean more than others? (Have you finally done island sancturary? Since you have wrote in another thread that you only got your opinions throught other people) I like Island sancturary as it got released. I believe that a way more complex system is asking for way too much for something that is bascially a very small part of the game. If it gets better and better in the future great, if not, I still got my enjoyment out of it. So is my opinion worth less than yours? Should they only listen to you?

Also you are not painted as a bad guy because you want more...but if you make statements like only the players should now decide and other stuff, you will come off as unreasonable. In the end if you (after all the complaining) still give them a monthly subscription and only log in once every two week, they did everything right. Still got your money after all.

Just read OP and nothing else...

If IS was time gated, we would've had a much different (and much more heated) set of complaints. The argument that there should've been more to do on release is basically thing that could be said out of any content that limited or no time gated construct.

So I'm just gonna call this bad faith argument.

Glancing over their characters, it doesn't even look like they engage in crafting much. It's purely adventure, never getting all of them (and not a single blue mage either). Island Sanctuary is clearly not for them. This makes the commentary even more disingenuous.

Last thing I did was collect all the rare animals. This site: https://www.thonky.com/final-fantasy...animal-tracker was the most help, since it predicts when the windows will be up based on time and weather.
Pretty much done with it now.

This wouldn't work for me, since I can't stand being in the buildings because my camera constantly gets blocked by the structure.

Hell I WISH the island was more automated. As it stands I'd need to chop about 160 trees just to be set for the next week. The granaries don't bring back nearly enough of the materials to keep up.

And ultimately I'm not gonna spend 20 minutes gathering island materials when I can go do actual gathering and get something useful. So it's pretty much dead content.

"Everyone" can't be bored, because not all players have even reached level 90 to start playing around with the Island Sanctuary. You're also discounting those who have reached 90 and haven't yet started with this content, as well as all of those players who seem to enjoy it and haven't tried to max out to level 10 within the first month.

So, not "everyone" at all.

Out of the entire population of active subscribers, you may actually interact with, what, 150-200 of them, max? So "everyone" in this context is self-selected: you don't actually hang out with people, or converse with people, about Island Sanctuary unless you've already established some form of relationship.

Fine, let me rephrase then.

The immense majority of the people that I know are completely done with islands and only did it for either the shorts or the bike, and they now abandoned the content because it's plainly bad and boring, they just did it for the rewards because they had to.

They didn't have to. They chose to.

There's always the option to skip content you don't find enjoyable and go without the related rewards. I don't think a lack of denim cutoffs for glamour is going to ruin an entire game for someone.

Still, that's your circle of friends. In my circle of friends, there are some still slowly working on their island. Others have it to max but are still having fun with the workshop and trying to collect all the rares. Others like to come visit my island because they haven't completed 6.0 MSQ yet and are looking forward to being able to get their own island. And yes there is one who said he got bored with it and stopped bothering.

Neither of us has a circle of friends that's representative of the entire player base. Only SE knows how popular the content has been so far.

The immense majority of the people that I know are satisfied with islands and still enter it after completing the buildings and earning the bike because they like the content and find it relaxing. They do it because they enjoy it, not because of rewards.

I think I know my friends more than you do, and I know if they like certain content or not, how is that an exaggeration ?

Everyone is into the bike, meanwhile I just want them to release the remaining onion mounts. So cute!

It's kinda mindnumbing and boring but there is a large audience for mindnumbingly boring games. Old school runescape still exists afterall. Personally I am very whelmed by IS. I didnt spreadsheet it out, I didnt go through everything as fast as possible. I have the bike, I'm going to get one of the onion mounts but I'm also not in a hurry. Not really my kind of content but it's low effort enough for me to still get the rewards for it. For now I guess it'll just be a pretty island I can park my character if I'm not hanging out infront of my FC house.
