Where is all the content?

Well different people have different tastes when it comes to a good story. I wont deny that yes the story does contain what i refer to as plot devices of convenience like time travel, the azem stone and some other but all of the components together fit with the story. I read some people state that basically the story was bad because we are now to believe it was the wol going back in time that started the events and thats impossible. Personally i dont know because im not an expert in time travel but to me it feels like the perfect example of ghe chicken or the egg, what came first. Now personally the whole ordeal in ultima thule i can say made me mad. Why? Because i am not an emotional person so to have some stray tears going down my face, sniffling and even staring blank at the screen a few times made me mad, but in a good way because never have i had such emotional investment in a video game. To say though that the saving of the scions was a given well i wouldnt say it was a given... i was extremely hoping for it but honestly it could have easily not been the case. Just wanted to put some of my thoughts out there

You can now add to the list of cut-backs the increasing amount of hats that even for the existing, and by far and large most played, race in the game that used to have no problems with hats, flat out "hide" their ears in this expansion. (And the aforementioned sets that hide tails completely)

Fully expect the usual shilling to dismiss this as a non-issue in the snowball of "non-issue" that is present in Endwalker.

It all comes down to what cloud you have. Blizzard went a big way from physical blade-servers running given realm to completely distributed gameplay. This has some disadvantages like vertical scaling (you can't really have open world mass battles, PvP mostly) which for FF14 isn't even a game feature. FF14 can't be distributed because it's still legacy code. We can't have WoW style transmog system because of legacy limitations and on and on. We still have loading screens between zones. If SE really want to invest into the game, into that won't make a return on investment on it own they have to invest in new backend and then new client. The new backend should then be able to be run as a distributed set of services that are way easier to scale horizontally.

Blizzard was quick to publish native Apple M1 client, then they even published Windows on ARM version. This is like very tiny fraction of their playerbase yet they did it. Their Windows client is on the latest DX12 features including some basic raytracing. They do fail at quality control right now and still have legacy elements like dumb lighting which makes DXR usage super niche, yet they invest into such thing. By Legion they pretty much learned how to make a MMO expansion launch that at time was many times bigger launch than any of FF14 expansion launches.

But SE can just add new "instances" in their server infrastructure - more players more hardware and just make new patches with content and it will sell as it's selling now - depends who pulls the strings in SE in terms of this game funding and business plan. Like they can just make say 5 EW style expansion on existing software and get the profits. If they re-implement the game anew it will eat profits from like 1-2 expansions and then allow making "better" expansions that on start will allow to offer bit more and grow bit more over what old system could handle - with having more tangible benefits later on plus an ability to scale way better if an expansion explodes or sproutbringer 2.0 happens. It all comes down to who will decide this.

Eden’s gate had 5 songs. Pandaemonium has 2. There’s more reused gear this expansion than in prior ones, and we don’t even have an 89 dungeon set compared to the x9 sets we’ve gotten in the past.

And ... it's because she has the perfect reason both pre-and-post hindsight? On the other hand, Venat knew he was one of the key architect in stopping the incoming disaster. Remember post Elpis thing is already in motion, it was no longer a question of if but when. It makes perfect sense to use Hermes's knowledge in stalling the disaster, because all points toward if he caught wind of the "truth", not only he would probably not help in fighting the first Final Day, he probably would help accelerate it!

Like I said many time, people are free to agree or disagree with Venat decision. But hers is one made with solid foundation and reasoning, not because she simply took our words for it.

I disagree it's solid reasoning to let the world end 8 different times because one guy might not use his expertise in dynamis to help you solve a problem you wont even tell anyone is a problem. Especially after that guy is sundered and you no longer even have the risk of losing the expertise from telling the people who remain.

The issue isn't not telling Hermes, its not telling anyone (publicly, I do think they will expand on who she did tell with the raid) just to 'gain' Hermes expertise against the final days.

But again this is mostly a complaint about the In World logic. The story flow works fine.

I'm not sure how that detracts from what I said on how the songs are just remixes in Eden's Gate for a few of them. You get free 89 gear in Sharlayan. Every expansion after heavensward has used reskinned gear. We saw this in ShB, and people complained back then, to then forget it it seems. They complained about it in Stormblood as well.

At least the re-skins we're seeing released they updated the textures on for a few of them. I'm not denying it was done, but it's always been done.

You’re saying how the content is on par with other expansions when that isn’t true. We’ve seen the most reused gear this expansion release than on any other expansion release. This expansion they couldn’t even bother to role swap or make the reused gear dyable. The 89 gear we get is af gear, but that doesn’t warrant missing out on an entire left side gear piece. That’s a loss in content compared to previous expansions. As for the songs it doesn’t change the fact we only got 2 songs for Pandaemonium, with one of them being a remix of the other and the savage version of the 4th fight not even having a song transition.Eden at least had 5 songs, some of them remixes or not and had a song transition for savage.

How can you say that, when the expansion has just come out though? And I'm able to dye the re-used gear, very odd... At least the stuff that used to come from Siren. And yes, there's less music, but we kinda know why on that aspect. I'd rather take quality over quantity especially in that regard.

Honestly, it feels almost just like the need to complain over trivial things, to then neglect the good things that are new. I just find that odd. Plus the earlier misinformation on how servers work, may have shifted my attitude to people just complaining to complain.

Just because it’s trivial to you doesn’t mean it’s trivial to others, also what’s the excuse for the music? They have other composers, they’re even credited in the credits of the game. The expansion has just come out yes but i’m comparing to previous expansion releases. Hence why i also compared this raid tier’s music to last expansions first raid tier music. The missing gear set is also still applicable. Personally i’m just not okay with us getting less so far while the company continues to make mass amounts of money.

So, from what I'm finding out, just that dungeon the gear cannot be dyed. Possibly an overlook? What I'd assume at least and nothing really to complain about atm imho. And due to the issues Soken had, while also being the lead music creator for the game, I think your other question is answered fairly simply in that regard. Yes they have other composers, but they tend to follow the lead of Soken to keep to theme etc.

All things that can be fixed later if absolutely needed, especially the fact one dungeon set is undyable atm.

This is the poorest argument I've ever seen. The simplified crafting is as a direct result of the feedback or distaste that people had for how complex or annoying the system once was. They didn't just suddenly wake up and think they need to dumb down the system.

No single expansion has had relics released on the launch of the expansion. Not Heavensward, nor Stormblood, nor Shadowbringers, and neither this. It's a pretty common trend of every expansion for the past 6 years, as is everything you highlighted. Speaking of, why are you comparing a base game to an expansion..??

Well for one, they specified expansion cycle, not re-launch to save the game. Two, no one wanted another Prae or Castrum I am sure, not sure how you consider that content though since just a story dungeon experience. Crafting being made better is not making it less in depth. The fact that Inner Quiet change went through I doubt people are truly complaining about...

Strange because I thought Ruby Sea was the worst zone I have ever seen in basically any MMO I have ever played. It would be wise to review what is coming in 6.1 before going off on this odd tangent. Radz alone makes every other city in the MMO look small...Sharlyan is very big also compared to crap like Rhalgrs Reach which was needlessly spread out.

6.1 has a new Ultimate, deep dungeon and Island Expeditions, world server visit and the new pvp mode.

You can argue that as much as you like but I'm pretty sure the vast majority of players and the action carried out as a result would suggest otherwise. In any circumstance my point was that their complaint or criticism was a direct result of community feedback. Besides, let's face the fact. It took more effort for them to redo the system into what it is today than for them to just leave things as they were.

I've seen a lot of complaints about mostly small stuff, but this is the worst take I've come across yet. Honest question, did you strike oil at the bottom of the hole you had to dig to come out with this complaint?

Not according to the wiki. It was 2.2. Anima was 3.15, Eurekan were 4.25 and Resistance were 5.25.

And with 2.0 most of this was stuff that was already pre-developed for 1.0 and was able to be finished off for the launch. Comparing an expac to what is essentially the base game is just ridiculous.

Ever since HW at launch we've gotten 2 NM Trials, 2 EX trials, NM Raid, Savage Raid, and a few max level dungeons. And while mid expac max level dungeons have decreased we've always had three new max level dungeons, 1 story and 2 side. HW also started the trend of Relic coming after launch, and while it did come out earlier than with StB and ShB that's likely to do with the fact that the HW relic didn't get it's own system and zone dedicated to it.

As far as the comment about Deep Dungeons. PotD and HoH were not in at release, they came in with 3.3 and 4.3 (HoH I am not 100% sure on, but I believe it was 4.3. It definitely wasn't launch). However, they have also started they have nixed that and the Bozja like stuff will be the norm going forward for additional job leveling areas. To replace that they have hinted many times at new 4 man content for EW, but again not at launch so we'll have to see. We can judge at the time it is or isn't added.

We've gotten like... the same amount of content it seems that HW, SB and ShB received when their expac launched. 6 MSQ dungeons, 2 optional dungeons for expert mode, 3 NM trials, 2 extremes on release day, as well as dozens of side quests. Granted, I did only join a bit over a year ago so I obviously don't know what it was like exactly on patch day and beyond, but. It feels roughly the same as ShB, SB, and HW content-wise for the very first patch. Seems like they save huge content releases for the .1, .2, .3, .4, .5 patches.

The only thing I'm doing here is picking apart the most poorly constructed piece of criticism I have possibly ever seen on the matter. See what you fail to realise in my point is that a reboot implies the only thing were doing in the first place is reworking many of the pre-existing assets and groundwork that was already established in 1.0. Furthermore, I never implied that the original game itself was not a base-game just that the developments of 2.0 don't exactly constitute an expansion pack over a reboot/redevelopment of a failed game. - They were hardly creating an expansion pack for what was arguably one of the biggest disasters they've ever done. They took on an ambitious project of trying to save the stain it would leave on both the game and the company itself. No amount of baseless denial from yourself is going to detract from that fact that it is still a reboot of a failed game. The only reason that was even started in the first place is because the game itself was and still is bound by the lore established in the original failed game.

Furthermore, the simple fact your only followup argument is calling me a white knight just shows me that you're probably out of your depth with the argument and the understanding of what a white knight actually is. Thanks to people using this term as if it were candy the word hardly has the self-same gravity that it once did. So well done for this.

It's a cold day in hell when troll threads and posts are making better arguments than people with genuine criticisms. Shall we look at what ARR ended up offering through the course of its patches?

- An inflated number of dungeons
- A single tiered raid series (with the exception of Second Coil of Bahamut) - Arguably Binding Coil was also a buggy mess.
- Numerous updates to the story with barely any of them being voice acted, and arguably over 30% of them being cut because they had very little impact on the story itself.

See your criticisms actually show they listen to their community hence why we don't see the nonsensical dungeons such as Praetorium and Castrum Meridianum, or a needlessly profuse crafting system which many people didn't even like the direction of in the first place. - It takes more effort to rework a system than it does to allow it to remain. If you're going to make criticisms put it in a better angle and I'd be inclined to actually maybe give it merit and agree with it. This game has a myriad of issues and I'm sorry what you've pointed out I just don't agree with being an issue, at all.

ARR - 17 dungeons after mainstory
HW - 12 dungeons after mainstory
SB - 9 dungeons after mainstory (1 outsourced to Garo team) + 2 ultimates
ShB - 7 dungeons after mainstory (24 raid outsourced to Nier team & no potd like dungeon) + 1 ultimate (initially 2 promised)

The quality of dungeons might be better and take more time nowadays, but if you look at numbers, like you wanted to show?! then you can see the trend. Obviously it has reasons, ARR was much longer for example. People asked for challenging 4man content since HW, they still make dungeons the same way as ever though, you can only pull wall to wall that many times before it gets boring.

What exactly makes the quality better? Flashy setpieces? The only thing interesting in 90% of the dungeons now are bosses. The experience of playing through almost all of them since Shadowbringers is exactly the same with only distinction being aesthetic.
ARR didn't beat EW's just in numbers... What it lacked in setpiece and music it had in making even lineart dungeons actually have distinct experiences.
