Am I going to get crucified if I say that I wish some end game content was designed like Sea in FFXI?
I don't know if this will help you or not... but I did not play FFXi and I am all for all the varied type of content that we can add..... I'll take any content... anything... And I'll do it with a smile on my face...
the more varied and diverse the content... the better
Just a little, Sea was fine, running all over the place to find if the NM (will) pop/(is) up was the most boring, but Sea like sky, thoses open event was really nice, you can also get into limbus from sea, and divine might from sky, there was instanced content on thoses event also, everyone was happy.
All I know is if I log in with 24 people in Crystal Tower and see a hour time limit, I'm peacin out.
(Unless its Nyzul Isle style).
You guys keep comparing this game's "endgame" content with other games that are finished and successfully out for some time. FFXIV is not finished yet, it's being also remade from scratch. What we got at this moment is only content to keep us busy while we choose to stay here and watch the changes coming. Yes, we are paying a monthly fee, yes, most of us have lvl50 jobs and call it endgame. But it's not really, Yoshi-P said clearly it's only so we can have special content not accessable after 2.0 while he changes the game.
Don't get that desperate just now and condemn the system, when it's not even done yet. It's your choice to stay here for the changes or come back for 2.0 and then complain on a real base. But until then, I hope we don't get full sets for the whole server in a month, it should give us something to keep busy until Garuda and all the things to come.
This is so true. It's always stated but nobody listens. Constantly I see people comparing the FFXIV content to things like Nyzul isle and Limbus without taking into consideration that these events were added many years after the release of the game. A good variety of events comes with a good amount of content - you can't expect too much this early (as well as in a temporary game state derp).
The current system is working well for my linkshell, we're getting a just reward for the time being put in while having fun mixing it up and joking around as a group for many, many hours a day. What's wrong with everyone else?
Nyzul (Uncharted) style? Yes, please. Abyssea Proc style? Yes. People want to complain about drop rates, suggest SE add the stagger system from Abyssea/Dynamis, which if you don't know it allows you to force gear drop to 80%+. Some people hate this system because it allows you to bring a variety of people (or warrior) instead of burning everything with your usual clique.
Or the people who played to level 20 and quit lol.
If you even know what the Crystal Tower was in the original game, you'd be far less inclined to hate a time limit. Why do casual people hate timers so much?
As much as I want as many different kinds of content that they can conceive...
sometimes I have to step back and look at the big picture
When I start feeling like everyone else wants something that I think is stupid then maybe I need to reevaluate my perspective... or just accept the fact that I'm not going to get my way
If you feel like the majority of people who play this game (Or will play this game at 2.0) are stupid... then you are telling SE to add content aimed at stupid people...
Contrary to what the forums would have you believe... I personally think most final fantasy fans are at least moderately intelligent
Whats the point of me saying this? sometimes we have to compromise.... and if we are in the minority... then we DEFINITELY have to compromise
If 99% of the players play a certain way (I know it was hyperbole but you get the point) then that is going to be SE's focus
I don't like it either... I'd like to think I'm different than most and I would love all the different types of FFXI endgame content (And this from someone who didn't even play FFXI) and I would LOVE IT if SE made all the content geared towards my personal preferences and playstyle.
but I can accept the fact that it might not come to pass
Time sink , money sink .....
I still waiting for D3 to launch and good bye ^^
Even Hardcore gamers like u guys get shitty drop rate .
I guess those play leisure will just shut up and ignore DL as much ..
When people say "do you want people to get full sets in 1 week" i think they arent thinking it through
let me explain,
if i play 24/7 doing raids over and over and it still takes me 200-300 clears or a few weeks to get all the gear how long do you think it will take someone who doesnt play that much or even a moderate amount.
so when people say what i quoted above i feel like they arent thinking about the relevancy of playtime..
my point is.. if someone wants all the gear super fast you arent going to be able to stop them unless you use timer lockouts or something..
but then the lockouts are usually within the timeframe of someone who plays a moderate amount so they will still get gear in a similar timeframe to someone who plays 24/7, but no one has to bother doing the same thing 200-300 times.
why didnt SE do it this way? well because the game is a mess and they have run out of time, they cant create content fast enough to be able to lock people out from it or people would log on with nothing to do.
so unless SE is holding content back so they dont have to use these kind of tactics in 2.0 i wouldnt hold your breath to any changes to this kind of system, atleast not for a long while.
but whats funny is theres actually quite alot of content it has just gone to waste in that most of it drops junk so no one wants to do it, SE should make HNM drops worth our while as one example.
one of the side-effects of gear swapping in FFXI was that people would do content to get gear what would be "junk" without gear-swapping, allthough i dont neccesarily agree with gear swapping.. im just saying lol.
I actually don't find it boring at all, but that's only because Peng is beautiful.
