See, now I'm sketchy about you when you said you're a good player. It was a well known fact in FFXI that it was easier and faster in most end-game situations to have the whole group wipe and re-raise, than to try to run. In fact, most people who ran and didn't listen to LS leaders when they told them to stop and die ended up getting kicked out of the better end-game LSes.
Do convenient instant travel systems that ALREADY have a limit need a drawback?
Death = anima loss? No thanks.
Teleportation = Weakened Status. No, just no.
Expensive anima refreshing item/service, meh.
Now something that could teleport me to one of the city-states of my chosing, for a decient cost or acquired from a repeatable quest... (YES, PLEASE)!

EDIT: lolz hotlink fail. Too lazy to fix. Imagine it was a ninja turtle or possibly a power ranger on a bicycle.
It sounds as though you dont like this game. You can also sit there and boo hoo and cry all day it isnt gonna happen because you want it to happen. You bring this subject up over and over again. When will you grow up and stop this BS. Also here is the answer to your problem Whm gets tel-port spells and Blm gets warp spells problem solved!!!! Than again I am sure you wont like that either and boo-hoo and cry over that. So I myself am thinking that there is nothing SE could do to even make you happy. So I ask you why do you even play if all you are gonna do is complain, go boo-hoo and cry because you cant have your way?
Yet another anima thread... Congrats, you are now officially the forum equivalent of a birther.
I may be on an Island with Rokien with this "Masochist(exageration much?)" mentality. But I believe that immersion should be an integral part of the game. Immersion from playing with our emotions, that emotion specific to this case is fear. Without fear I will not appreciate our (what would be)hard earned gear as much. Short of a pretty visual factor and great music, I am not attached to the areas of the game or the monsters in it. I do not adventure around with the fear of being mutilated if I make a wrong turn and lose (a pretty reasonable but still regretable) amount of experiance. I do not respect a level 60+ mob much more than a level 5 mob. I shouldn't be calm in those situations, it creates a dull feeling in the game. Now I think if there were to be a casual side, it should only apply to a sort of tutorial where new players get a sense of the game and the job they are playing. But that should be limited to lower levels, 1-20 max IMO.
I hope everyone can feed of this and think of ways to make both sides happy as apose to the generic "No." "Rokien Thread" or my favorite so far -Bruceybruceybangbang "Why would I say anything constructive? Look at you. You are preposterous."
I enjoy the shout out. However, you've said nothing that backs the OP's wishes. All you're talking about is that you feel no danger which has little to do with a death penalty. Which, by the way, we already have a death penalty.
Being immersed is wonderful if you are, but let's not forget that it's completely subjective. I lose my immersion when my cell phone rings. Some lose their immersion when there are clipping issues when wearing woolen smocks. Some lose their immersion when the music stops playing, when they are instantly ported on an air ship, when they are not fearful when in areas filled with mobs, ect.
You know where I'm getting at. I could go on and on. If it's an immersion issue, take it up with the Rainbow Basilisk in Mor Dhona and not waste time blabbing on about your own subjective view on what immerses you or what does not immerse you. It's irrelevant.
...because immersion!
Maybe we should have to spend several years practicing martial arts before we're allowed to use the mnk job or perhaps a lifelong apprenticeship to be a blacksmith?
The immersion and realism arguments can get so ridiculous at times and no this isn't exaggerating. If people genuinely have a problem that gear gets damage instead of your anima ticking away due to game lore and realism then seriously, this is the crazy-ass reality we could find ourselves in...if SE listened to them anyways. Hopefully they won't. :p
Make it so that you can not regenerate anima, and when you run out of anima your character will be perma-dead. And you can't delete perma-dead character, you have to buy more slots. Once all 8 characters are perma-dead, your account is insta-banned.
Immersion enough?
nah.... just make it so you are perma dead every time you die, and your account is insta-banned.
now that you can gain anima I think this idea should fit in just fine. It would be almost a perfect balance.
same effect if u keep running..and fighting .... you get tired = weakened and finaly die from exhaustion.
no thanks.. its good as it is
Anima is weak and so is our current death penalty.
I don't have a problem with anima per se, but I AM worried that it's implementation will have negative effects on world design down the line. If players don't actively have to traverse the world, why bother putting much effort into it? Or even, taking it a step further, why not just have the content finder port you to the instanced areas straight from town, removing the need to leave them at all?
Of course, I'm not saying either of those will happen, but the connections link up well in my head and it has me worried
Stop bumping your old crappy ideas
stop it Rokien
Death penalty and anima are all fine as it is.
Edit: It may be my loss of course, who knows, but I'm actually considering blocking you man. You're no longer posting for discussion of ideas or anything, it seems to me its just to spite people.
I think anima is likely just a temporary thing anyway.
From what I understand maps will be a lot smaller (but less repetitive) in 2.0, and the need for anima to cut down on travel time will be negligible.
I think that it will really depend on how they connect the zones. If they simply take the land mass as it is now and chop it up, then yes, it will likely be just as important after 2.0.
However they could have it so that the major cities are connected via airship as they are now, and then all the surrounding smaller zones are never any more than 2 zones away from a major city.
For example. A major city could exit into 3 zones, each of those 3 zones could exit into 3 zones, and each of those 9 zones could exit into 3 zones. In this method, you'd have 39 mini zones within close proximity to a major city.
I really hope they design a completely different form of transportation, I don't like the concept of Anima.
I've always said this game needs a real death penalty. If this is as harsh as they're willing to go, then I'll take it... However in my mind we should have exp loss.
