Alisae didn't get poisoned by that arrow for no reason, I think it was a forshadowing of her real death.
Everything and everyone that drops something I want.
Is especially bad if you're a healer.
This reminds me of Chinese no effort at story cash grab mmos in which you're a filthy peasant until lv 10-15 and suddenly you hit immortal god errand extraordinaire. See that group of wandering immortal daemons? Kill em. I like the way favor shining on you is an actual plot point.
I am talking about story persepective not gameplay perspective.
Story wise the WoL is basically more powerful than a God in Eorzea. None can be his or her equal and none would dare antagonise the WoL because he or she is Eorzea's Nuclear deterrent to any threat to Eorzea.
Heck in Gaius's final moments he even said if the WoL wanted to he or she can basically take over all of Eorzea with his or her powers alone and no one will be able to stop the WoL from taking over Eorzea and become its ruler.
The WoL can die at anytime like any other NPC and we have a lore "thing" called the Echo that can always bring the WoL back after death or reveal everything that the Player character experience was just a Echo of the WoL life that our character was experience in the WoL place similar to how 1.0 Echo acted to 1.0 player characters.
That mostly the issue I see with how the WoL is handled. The characters in the story have forgotten the WoL is just like everyone else inside but just brush it off and treat him or her as a the solution to everything becuase the WoL is forever the only solution to everything.
Well here we will have a grim reminder that we are not in fact gods.
It is what 4.0 appears to be going for as 3.55 hinted.
From here 4.0 may focus a lot on reminding the world that the WoL, while being strong, can not be the solution to everything as he or she is also bound to limits as well and they themselves must also take up their own abilities to deal with situations or else one day the WoL may face something he or she cannot defeat and thus since everyone put everything on the WoL winning the world burns because of one person not being able to defeat this "Threat" alone, or with small group of other Echo users (whatever you believe is canon to how WoL defeats Bosses and trials).
Most likely quite early in the storyline since the first set part of the game is the first Battle for Ala Mhigo. After that the story may go into Othard after the loss for the a good amount of level 60 to 70 content as we gain new allies and successfully liberate a part of Othard from garlean control judging from the Trailers have shown so far.
We are after all just continuing where 3.55 Main Scenario left off as the WoL and Scions head out to the join the Battle for Ala Mhigo.
I just hope a certain Monk job character take part in 4.0's Ala Mhigo side of the storyline since the WoL did promise to fight by his side when the day comes that the Battle for Ala Mhigo begins.
I hope it's Yshtola.
warrior of light is the mother crystal avatar
I do think we going see turn point in war and return of azure dragoon.
when thing look bleak who should appear but Estinen
One must not forget the poem that was at end the mainline quest
Not even the Warriors of Darkness could stop the Warrior of Light. Not even Ascians could stop the Warrior of Light. Not even the Dread Bahamut could stop the Warrior(s) of Light. What in the universe is going to give the WoL pause?
Zodiark?
EDIT: The closest I've seen the WoL come to defeat was at the end of 2.55, by a political giant. It took a political giant to nearly bring the WoL down. War is awfully political, especially when it's not Ishgard that's on the brink, but Gridania, Limsa Lominsa, and Ul'dah. I think we need lots and lots more politics, THAT'll make the fight more difficult.
Politics.
EDIT EDIT: Getting back on track of this thread, I think Y'shtola will bite the dust. I don't know about anyone else, that remains yet to be seen.
All Lalafells in existence.
im going to go with the bold prediction that there wont be any deaths from our side and from the main bad guys on garlean side there wont be any deaths.
On our side I'm going: Y'shtola, Yugiri and Gosetsu.
For the Imperials: Yotsuyu, Zenos and Fordola.
And not on our side or the Imperials: Nero.
But hey, maybe the devs will surprise me and kill off someone I didn't even think they'd kill off.
Really? I guessed he still live. Yes I saw Raubahn try cut Teledji. Guessed Raubahn failed kill him.
But, Maybe I'm very forgot, I don't play FFXIV 10month (I'm back 3-4week ago)
Min ago I check youtube. True Teledji died. I'm so stupid
Sorry. I go delete my first post.
No need, PotD has the "ghosts?" of people who were killed suddenly in the main campaign. It's a neat little easter egg to bump into the minor NPCs as regular enemies.
Teledji is just the most important and recognizable. He's dead.
A thought occured to me. Are we sure Zenos will die now? Maybe he will be the main villain of the 4.x series as well. He might totally survive 4.0
A part of me hope Zenos dies and a part of me hope he lives to 4.X.
Regula was a interesting character who wasn't a "muhahaha" Evil character but a few "good" garleans who follows the garlean way because he believes it would lead to a better world and he was just loyal to the new Emperor because he was a good friend with Varis and varis gave him a future where others would have shunned him. He died for being loyal to Garlean Empire but he did so believing in what he did was right unlike most Garleans who are cruel and corrupt.
Gaius could have lived beyond 2.0 if he bother to attempt to escape from the explosion but he chosen to stay and die knowing that there was nothing left for him even if he lived thus dying with his belief.
Dont beat yourself over this, I always forget names of some NPCs too and before I answered I googled the name just to be sure. :)
About Zenos death: Well for me it depends if he is an interesting character and if him being alive at the end of the expansion gives something to the plot. If he just evil for the sake of evil and has otherwise no real interesting character points then I see no reason why he should survive the expansion. I mean Regula was killed off in a side quest and he was an interesting character which I would have liked to stay longer.
No, no no. He should totally die within the expansion. But I'm not sure I want him to die in 4.0. Maybe in 4.3 or 4.4 instead would be better. Thordan was a cool villain for like five minutes and we got that boring lizard Nidhogg as the antagonist for most of HW.
Now I don't see anyone above Zenos in the food chain if we look at the Ala Mhigan front. I mean he is the viceroy. Of course it might turn out that Zorn and Thorn are helping him and they will be the villains in the patches.
