So the night before I decided to chance it again, I fresh installed windows and manually update my system/OS to the current build. (15063) I was able to play for 4 hours straight 0 Crashes. Last Night another 2 with no problems. This morning it's all good as well. This is coming from either crashing after load - to up to 20mins before it would crash - showing Directx Error 11000002 Window.
Not sure what the problem is myself, but IMO it's with windows. I knew my card would run fine as I had it running in another computer just to check, and I assure you I've try all the fixes.
Updating GFX Drivers.
Clean Installing GFX Drivers.
Setting PCI Express Link Power Manager in Power Options to OFF.
Removing the overclock on my GFX Card.
Changed GFX cards.
Changed AA and AF to application controlled.
Clean installed FFXIV and updates.
Clean installed Windows 10.
Use DX9 - still crashed
After all that as I said I am currently running fine with the following-
Windows 10 build 15063
Amd Drivers 17.4.4
CPU AMD 1700 8 Core
GPU AMD 270x
Ram 16gb ddr4 3000 LPX Memory
MOBO MSI B350 PC Mate
the se support is so useless, after telling them my problem they said should clean install graphic drivers and so on.
after i said i did that and that i doesn't work and also send them a huge list of links where people are complaining about this problem the said do a forum post and make a bug report.
I have started having this issue of late as well also. I have Nvidia drivers though and use Geforce GTX 980 for my card(s) . I have updated to my latest drivers and did a clean install for it and still this occurs. I am using DirectX11 to play the game. Also as a side note, if you google this error, you will see this has been going on for some time.
I have a AMD Radeon HD 7870 never had problems in the last 2 years. Been very rarely having this exact error message when I come back to the game after having minimized for a while. I'm using the latest drivers and updates for Windows 10 x64 ( I have the creators update installed).
I have a friend that also had a lot of crashes with his AMD RX 480 and was only able to reduce them by tuning down the graphics quality.
Using a GTX 780 and I get this at least once a day. Started happening after upgrading to Windows 10. Not only an AMD problem.
So I tried this out just for the heck of it. It was one of the few Driver patches I haven't tried yet. Yesterday night... and today all day I played about 12 hours straight not a single crash. Didnt get off at all and the game ran smooth. Maybe I'm lucky too? or that driver version really works.
I think it's just random unfortunately. I tried at least a dozen different drivers with clean installs--one of them being 17.1.1--and while some appeared to be good at first I ultimately did crash no matter what. Could certainly be different for you guys and I hope it is, but I didn't experience the same thing.

Unlike the "super helpful" SE support, AMD support has been nothing but helpful. Earlier today user amdmatt has posted a reply that they have managed to recreate the issue with their internal engineer team, and will start working on a fix. So hang in there guys, it's coming (hopefully).
For the nVidia product users I highly recommend posting this on their support boards as well. You never know, they might fix it as well.
It's still sad that game bugs have to be patched out by the graphics drivers engineers, not the original developers of the game...
Oh wow that's awesome. Honestly even if they don't fix it I just want confirmation that it definitely isn't something I can fix. I put in a support ticket with AMD last week and included as much information as possible so I'm hoping they just finally hit enough complaints for it to be worth looking into. Haven't heard back yet though. Was this just a response to your ticket or was it posted anywhere?

Same error DirectX, I have a R9 380, this is really annoying. I cant' play for a long time. Sometimes there are lot of freezes and sometimes a crash and go to desktop.
Please, do something.
I have this fatal direct x error on directx11 too and its very annoying its been like this for 1-2 months for me can only play in directx9
pls fix :(
UPDATE:
The Game seems to run stable for 2 days now. Maybe it's fixed with the following things I did. "I hope I don't summon the Error again with this post... :D"
- I bought Stormblood and tried playing with no driver updates -> got the same error + freezing ingame and while closing the game
then I did the following:
- don't know if it's important, but first I disabled automatic Updates in Windows 10
- clean uninstall of old drivers
- downloaded and installed the "Radeon Software Crimson Edition with AMD Gaming Evolved App"

it's the Radeon Software Version 16.10.1
- after that I uninstalled every overlay app, like Raptr, Overwolf and some Videocapture software, which came with the drivers I think

Hi,
I was playing quite happily all day yesterday and prior to that with no issues. This morning I log on and I get a directx error 1000000 I have tried everything from directx9 to video drivers. The game just won't let me play. As I say all I do was switch off the pc last night and turn it back on today.

so yeah. personally i upgraded from 380 to 1080 and has been stable ever since

Wow really? I posted my issue on the amd tech support and they say just to use dx9 and I told them dx9 isn't going to be supported in the future and I bought a dx11 card to use dx11 on. I didn't get a response after that lol

So, just a heads up, I was using a GTX 750 ti card and I was crashing CONSTANTLY - especially on graphically intense fights like the final SB trial. I could, literally, not get through the trial. This morning when I was doing a little additional poking around I found the 750 ti didn't fully support all the Direct X features. So, I finally said eff it and just went and purchased a new 1050 ti for 150 bucks. Uninstalled my Nvidia drivers, installed the new card, installed new drivers, and no more problem. Obviously not a solution for everyone, or anyone, else. However, this has worked for me for now - thank god. I can actually play the game.
I was crashing whit that error on first 2 days on my msi 1080 updated nvidia drivers to latest seems to fix issue for me.
Kind of hard to believe GTX 750 ti won't have all the dx11 features when dx11 been out for years. I honestly think it's on nvidia side and they need to test and fix it. I know you got a new card but anyone else having nvidia cards should complain on their tech support forum because we finally got some notice on the ati forums on this issue.

I have an R9 380x in my old build that suffered the same error and I fixed it by doing a clean uninstall of drivers with DDU and reverting to the 16.11.5 driver and turning off windows automatic driver update and my old build has no issue running FFXIV in DX11 until they sort the problem in an updated drivers.
Yeah I did the same recently and I've been okay for 3 solid days and counting. I expect it to still crash at some point, but it's probably stable enough to play. My issue was I underestimated just how persistent Windows 10 is with updating your drivers in the background so that's KEY. If you're trying to use an old AMD driver like 16.3.2--which is the version in which they fixed this issue back during HW--Windows is going to apply a newer version if it has it. You might be able to cut out some steps but this is basically what I did:
1. Delete your Windows store driver. Mine was from April 2017 so anything older was being replaced with this without any notification or restart required.
2. Set Windows to not include drivers with Windows Update in group policy.
3. Switch Device Installation Settings to not update stuff automatically.
4. Do a clean uninstall of existing drivers with DDU/AMD Cleanup in safe mode.
5. Re-install 16.3.2 drivers (or something else from this era if you think something is going to be more stable) and restart.
6. Give it some time and restart again just to make sure Windows 10 isn't installing a newer driver.
I included all the details of what I experienced in my ticket with AMD so hopefully that'll help get the fix into a newer driver. AMD's support while they didn't actually fix anything actually seemed to have read my email and had a good suggestion (to try 16.3.2 which specifically fixed this issue in HW). SE's support on the other hand gave me a list of generic things to try that I already tried and specifically detailed in my original email then closed the ticket. I'm going to say if you can't get it working with old drivers you're just going to have to wait for the fix to make it into a new one because SE doesn't really give a hoot.
1. Right click your start button and select system
2. On right hand side select system info
3. In system info tab on left hand side select advanced settings
4. In system properties tab select the hardware tab
5. In hardware tab select device installation settings
6. In device installation settings select the option "No Let me choose what I do" when you select that then it should bring up more options that check mark the box "never install drivers from windows update" and then it should be off.
If your drivers do manage to get overwritten just right click start and click device manager and go to your display adapter right click it go to properties then on the next tab go to driver then select rollback and it will rollback to the previous installed driver
Yeah one of the issues with Windows 10 is driver updates are on or off and there's no longer an in between. They're not necessarily a bad thing so it kind of sucks because they used to have an option to be prompted whether or not you want to update. As far as I can tell there is no longer such an option and selectively disabling updating ONLY your GPU drivers is just too annoying for me personally.
This afternoon, i tried uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling the 16.3.2 ones, but sadly it didn't work at all for me. I only hope they'll fix this issue, the game is nearly unplayable for me. It'll keep crashing with "Fatal error ecc." or some dx11 errors. :(
I feel like it'll probably still be different for everyone but give this a try:
1. Right click Start menu and click Device Manager.
2. Expand Display Adapters and right click your GPU and go to properties.
3. Go to Drivers tab and make sure it says 3/21/16 for date and 16.150.2211.0 for version.
If your info is different you probably have a newer driver in your Windows store folder from a previous update it may be overwriting it--that's what it would be with the 16.3.2 driver. You can also check by running DxDiag and looking at the Main Driver on the Display tab--it'll point at the system32 folder if it's using a Windows driver. If your Windows 10 is Anniversary or higher you should be able to roll back the driver to your 16.3.2 version.
It seems like patch 4.01 reintroduced this error into my game. I played countless hours from Stormblood's release until last nights patch without a single error.
Two days in taking your advice and so far no crash.

Hello ! I am experiencing difficulties too. After I log in and play for just a few minutes, my computer crashes and I either get a DX11000002 fatal error, or my computer simply shuts down. Glad to see I'm not the only one. Could play no prob yesterday, seems to have started around 2pm GMT+2. Nothing I tried seems to adress the problem. (rebooting, updating drivers, trying DX9 or changing my game settings to low)
Is there anything I can do or should I just wait for a fix ?
For PriestBelmondo and HeavensHell (and anyone else who's been reliably running Dx11 on R9 380 with 16.3.2 drivers) if y'all are still checking this: trying to see if something can be replicated. Yesterday I got to the Lochs and had my first crash in several days of stable gameplay and was continually crashing in this area to the point where I had to switch to Dx9 to get out of the area then switch back to Dx11 once I was out and had no issues afterwards for the rest of the night. The area in question was pretty much right on the red map pin inside the crypt to the north of the Lochs (would give coords but not home). Crashed maybe 5 times in that area specifically until I switched to Dx9 to get out. There was also a big ghost boss FATE going on in the cavern right to the west of that area, not sure if that had any effect. I plan on going over to test again when I get home but just wanted to see if anyone else was willing to give it a try.
Maybe if we can give them very specific conditions where it affects multiple folks so they can replicate the issue without much trial and error either SE or AMD can fix this a bit sooner.
I can check I don't really use that rig for gaming anymore I'm at work but I can check later tonight and I'll get back to this thread.
"Update" Played a couple hours on my old rig flew around the entire Lochs with no issues, did all my roulette and some primal extremes zero issues. My old build is an AMD FX 9590@ 5.0ghz R9 380x OC 8gb ram edition 16gb ram.
