Can we get rid of prisms please?

The rate at which I change my glamour varies time to time, but probably on average I do it weekly.

That's excluding just glamouring new items to what I was wearing before (i.e. say I have Emporer's New Gloves glamoured to my hands, and then I get the 270 drop from Alex this week for gloves - I glamour again. If we include those, then I guess 2x per week on average - where 1 is a full outfit change and 1 is just updating an item to my chosen outfit. Obviously the outfit change requires 3+ prisms)

I guess there are no former swtor players that play ff 14

Shrug, it's a feature of the game that has an influence on a persons opinion of the game. People's opinions of the game influence their purchasing decision. Thus, it has an effect on competition.

Yes, and this can be said about any meaningless and dumb feature because mathematicly there is atleast ONE person who is gona buy that game because of that.


Doesnt change the fact tho that the are much more important points to a mmorpg to make it competetive and bringing up glamour in that aspect is still hillarious

Indeed, every feature, mechanic or aspect of the game contributes to its overall competitiveness. You're also discussing the RoI. That is, naturally, an important part of decision making for the company. It's hard to say if the RoI would be worth it on taking a lot of time developing a better glamour system. We would need a lot more details and market research to adequately answer that question.

With this, I agree. There are other things that are more important to the competitive nature of the game than glamour. To ignore glamour for not being the most important is also a mistake, in my opinion.

Well i have no data too, but i am "negative" on the topic (not about glamour log) because i think in the long run its never healthy for an mmorpg to remove things which make you independent from others players. It does matter tho I cant tell you how many people ive heard that didnt like that u couldnt glam until level 50

Yeah and i know people which want the best loot from duty finder drops and one of my friends told me recently he should be able too buying crafted weapons from a vendor with a fixed price because they cost too much (where i facepalmed in chat *g*)



however only because my experince in my personal echo chamber is like this, this ideas are neither good foor the game nor a feature that should be priorized.

A glamour catalog still sounds like a massive hassle, TBH. So instead of perusing a small list of maybe 2-3 tabs, I'll have to scope through every single item I've ever gotten if I feel like modifying my glamour? No thanks. I prefer the current system, which let's me keep the glamours that are relevant to me and get rid of the rest.

I wouldnt ask for that Im simply askin to be able to glam wherever ii want would u be upset if u could take 500 gil and glam each item as pleased any location in the game. That is what swtor does its so easy and so simple and i have no clue how anyone could be against it

That's nice. I carry around a set of crafting gear, a set of gathering gear, along with gear that I just like to have on me for looks, not to mention gear for combat jobs! My retainer has a stack of clear prisms, a stack of vendor-bought undyed velveteen, a stack of gigantoad skins, a stack of alumen (probably would be better if I just turned those into toadskin leather, but I'm lazy), and a stack of silver ore. If I need to glamour something (which often involves WVR, LTW or GSM prisms), I'll just teleport to my FC house and grab prisms/mats from my retainer and quicksynth some prisms. Only takes me a few minutes at best.

Nothing would stop you from only learning the appearances of the few armor pieces you want. Good grief. -_-;

And would people stop assuming you pay with these other systems?? Making an outfit in Rift or WildStar costs ZERO plat. None. Completely free.

but it wouldnt BE 500 gil, it'd be 5000 gil, per piece. and that adds up quickly. even 500 gil can add up

I already dont have to carry around the stuff, its on a retainer.

and it would get rather difficult to sift through all the gear we can glamour, even in a log. theres hundreds of gear pieces in the game.

edit: according to a quick search on xivdb, there are 2,853 pieces of equipable gear for dow/dom jobs.

A proper glamour log would have a search feature, or a tab for each gear type (gloves, boots, etc.)

There's still the suggestion of turning glamour prisms into a currency, which would allow you to do this. It'll also keep the option for crafters to make their own prisms (for personal use, or as a way to make some gil)

My personal opinion is that GW2 system is not good, but it is better than FFXIV.

I am all for supporting an in-game economy. None of the other 3 games we've mentioned have weak economies, and all of them do not have prisms behind crafting. I am not really sure why we need 'reliable' income for crafters, but no reliable income for combat classes. I already find this game has a pretty big issue with wealth distribution, where crafters have a disproportionately larger wealth than non-crafters. While, I think they should have higher wealth, the level of discrepancy at the moment is way too large.

Speaking as someone who plays both games regularly, it really is not difficult. Having a bunch of options at my fingertips, whenever I want, is conducive to greater flexibility in how my character looks.

Honestly, this is a complaint I've never seen before and it completely baffles me.

Id say the people that agree with me are equal from this thread so , its prob a good percent on either or , and like i mention the devs took it down to one so we never know if they may totally do away with it and come up with a better system

Thats a terrible judgment to think the Forums are even a remotly good representation of the playerbase. And even if, i read the last 5 page i would call it remotly even, there are less people agreeing with this and most of them are talking about a glamour cataloge and not directly to remove the prisms

Well we will know either way but compared to other games if youve played some others I highly doubt you could say that this one has one of the best glaming systems out there

No, the the system in ARR is new.
In 1.0 the dyeing was part of the crafting. You crafted the cloth with a dye and then used the dyed cloth to craft the gear. No dyeing afterwards was possible. Only what parts of the gear can change the color is from 1.0

Then... don't learn everything? This isn't a real problem. Better customization and improvement on a terribly clunky system is > someone's minor complaint that they don't want to have to click through pages in a glamour log. Opening up my character panel to the Wardrobe tab and clicking on a gear slot to browse through available gear appearances there would be a heck of a lot more convenient than having to go through my inventory and retainers and right click-try on a bunch of items crowded onto two different retainers (and hopefully I'm not looking for something I shoved in the armoire).

That said, I highly doubt there are 600 unique armor models for each slot. MANY items use the same model. You're not going to be sifting through every unique item ID - just armor/weapon appearances. So basically, the problem you're worried about wouldn't be an issue.

It would be nice if the prisms went away....from your inv. Make them a non-inv thing like crystals. You can still sell them on the AH but they are put in a separate spot, and doesn't take up precious inv space. Yes I know the expac will be giving us more inv space but we all know that'll be all used up within a month of the expac coming out.

Highly confident that IF SE were to implement a glamour log, they would give us a 'Favorites' section similar to the crafting logs, possibly with 10 glamours per slot

Not only that, but logic would dictate that items that share appearances (of which there are many in this game) would not unlock multiple times.
