I couldn't even muster up the strength to *actually respond to this post, so I'm just pasting something I said in one of the similar threads (a locked one, now):



It's not about whether or not ppl can afford it lol....it's the concept of it, guys. I think everyone can "afford" to not eat 2 of the 30+ meals they probably spend 15 bucks on every month. But who can JUSTIFY paying SE FULL PRICE for a game that isn't even close to presentable. Like the OP said, this game is, essentially, still in it's beta test. SE ruined any chances of us "bearing the burden" of their debt with them, when they decided to put corporate greed ahead of customer satisfaction. Paying full price for this game is telling them, "you've managed to earn my trust and respect back" -and, that, certainly, is not the case with me.

I would sooner BURN 15 dollars every month, than put it towards this game. I don't mind paying like...half-price or something. That, at least, is some sort of concession on SE's part. As of right now, they're saying: "we walked all over you once before, and we're going to do it again...if you don't like it, then leave. We'll make plenty of money off of the other <insert crude insult here>."


As for your claims that SE is listening to it's customer base...I'm afraid you're drastically overestimating them. It seems to me that Yoshi-P is the only one willing to listen; I have a feeling that much of what he wanted to do w/ the game got "canned" b/c it was too big of an investment, regardless of the overwhelming support that he was getting from the "community." Honestly, when you compare this game, as it is now, to what it was from day 1...it really hasn't changed THAT much. The UI for battle is, virtually, IDENTICAL to the way it was on release -aside from the addition of auto-attk, and some superficial adjustments to the targeting system.

The ABOMINATION that is the class system has not been scrapped, completely, as it should have been; and as it SEEMED he was planning to (back when he was planning to rename classes according to their XI job counterparts, and "completely changing the rules and current w/e in Eorza" -or w/e he said). SE isn't listening to anything. They're just trying to recoop their losses as best as they can, w/ as little money as possible. Hence, the release of the "expansion" currently named "Ver. 2.0" -yes, that's right....it's little more than an expansion, imo. ToAU from XI was a COMPLETELY new region w/ all sorts of zones, job additions, missions, quests, etc. 2.0 looks like little more than an "aesthetic" upgrade. The same sh$%%y battle system, class system, and battle-pace looks to be alive and well.

And here it is, yet again...more ASSUMPTIONS. Why does everyone assume that the game is MAGICALLY going to be awesome, when we're here a year later, and still complaining about some of the most fundamental aspects of the game, like the class system. Is a glorified expansion all it takes to convince you that "everything is gonna be ok?" What if it doesn't work out...what if the 2.0 release is just as big of a disappointment as the early release of the original. What if you end up paying another $150.00, give or take, for a game that ceases to exist? What if all that time, effort, energy, and all those "friends" you made....just disappear? What then....<.<
