YOU HAVE CRUSHED MY HOPES AND DREAMS
option 2, I'm tired of grinding.
Just make the job start out at 20 or something >_> is it really that hard?
I see both reasons why Jobs should and shouldn't have their own EXP growth thingy.
I can't decide which side I want to be with, so I'm just sticking down the middle road where I level the req'd class to 30 to unlock it, and then work my way up to 50 after I unlock. Yay!
Then again, I'm also just a little too lazy to get another class to 50 right now.
Sorry, I'm going to go with the quest based system. I'm a lorewhore. This caters to me
There is no way that I am going to level a Job that almost have the same abilities as my main class from level 1 to 5o again. If you want to learn how to play your job right then practice on stronger mobs as a level 50 monk/pugilist instead of going back to level one and do the grind fest all over again.
Pugilist level one = punch, punch > BAM level 50. Now its time to level monk that has the same punch abilities and skills as my pugilist. Monk level one = Wohooo another grind fest.
I like that Job Abilities will be Quest-Based...in fact,
I wish all Class Abilities were quest based.
I wish the various Guilds had a more prominent role in our progression.
I wish we had to prove ourselves in special battles in order to unlock Weapon Skills.
I wish that Plvls still had to go back and complete Guild-Quests in order to learn/activate Abilities and Weapon Skills. (which would be easy at r50 but still gotta be done).
As for leveling Jobs from R1...no thanks, but they are essentially R30 when you unlock them and you need to grind it to R50 while completing the Ability Quests if you do not already have the required Class at R50.
Sorry, but I'm not gonna cry any tears for people that miss all the new low-mid level content because they have multiple 50's. If you want the full FFXIV experience...Make a new character after 1.20 and right before we start paying.
That's probably going to be the best feedback the Devs can get..."Is this game fun out of the box now?"
Don't have much to add other then I was VERY disappointed that the new jobs (if you will) don't start at level 1 when unlocked.
I picked Option 2, but here's what sounds good to me.
-Jobs will gain New/Advanced Skills and Abilities from Job Quests.
-Lore/Introduction on Job Quest, Tutorials on advantages/disadvantages of Jobs, and effects of the Skills/Abilities.
-Let/Make people get to know about the Job and how to play them.
-Jobs will have a Bar which will need to be filled. Once the Bar is full, your Overall stats will Increase towards the specific job.
-You will only need to fill the bar Once.
-The Bar can only be filled when you gain an Achievement(Any)
-I.E Paladin, Increasing Enmity, being hit by enemy's attack, Blocking, Parrying, Damage Mitigated using Skills/Abilities.
-Clearing quests(Any), Guildleve, defeating NM, etc should help filling the Bar.
-Filling the bar should take 3-7 Day of Normal playing time(2-4 Hours). Like getting R40-50 or R45-50
-Filling the bar should not be boring and that hard to achieve, so SE should add varieties to it.
-Make it fun. :p
While it sounds a bit harsh, I agree. It's also the players fault for leveling *everything* (at a time when there was nothing to do in the game) only to be ready when real content comes out. I never understood that. What's the point? I play to be entertained. I don't bore me for hours on end only to have fun after X amount of grinding. For me that's against the very essence why I play video games in the first place. If grinding itself were fun... but that's another issue.
But then again, I really think we need a level synch or lvl cap or whatever, because I also understand that someone who only leveled his favourite job is at 50 now and feels kind of punished for not having the chance to do lower level content with his favourite job (without killing everything with one hit).
And don't get me started on fighting the normal Ifrit with 3 lvl 50s (me being 30) and win within ten seconds. Again, what's the point? Now I have to gain 20 more levels for a challenging fight? What kind of a reward is this? :(
XI had such harsh restrictions. Thanks to that I was never able to beat certain content. In XIV it's vice versa. Can't we find a middle ground, please? :)
Oh, and sorry for derailing a bit... ;)
I am actually surprised people don't want jobs to have EXP to level up, that was one of the biggest upsets for me. I guess people want SE to hold their hands for them. Only way for them to offset this is if they make the quests to obtain abilities really hard and require like 3 people (6 is too many especially after job hype dies out). Also make you have to do like 30 quests not like 5.
Or they could just add long fun and challenging quest lines (where mobs adapt to number of people or you do them with a npc group or your path companion or well lots of things).
Make the quest interesting and take you to cool places and nice CS each time too.
Rather then just go face-roll your keyboard for hours killing FOTM EXP mobs.. Cos thats so much fun lol.
Probably won't be very many quests because:
You get the job at 30 (unless this is changed).
That leaves 20 possible levels to have a quest for.
The trend for the classes is an ability every other level.
Seems like a possible 10 quests but even this seems a bit high since 10 quests x 7 jobs = 70 quests and in the game there is only 150~ or so total quests.
And considering creating cut-scenes (most likely) for each of the quests it would be unlikely for them to make 10 quests per job. Don't get me wrong, I hope they have at least 10... it's still possible, but I feel like if they do have this many they won't be engaging and the cut scenes will just be the same super-long-text-paragraph-paragraph and not anything particularly epic.
I want to see voice acting, CGI cutscenes, excitement. Not my dude standing still, then quirking my eye every once and a while why another NPCs mouth moves up and down as a huge wall of text fills my screen/log. And some EPIC music, I'm pretty disappointed in the music choice thus far, although I thought the Grand Company music for the Foundation Day event was pretty nice. I want some Norg music and that oh so familiar "mystery" style music that played during quests in FFXI.
I know. I read that too, although I didn't cite that example because I thought that it was just an 'example' that Yoshi used. If you read my post, I was responding to the person who wanted 30 quests.
My post was just to show that the most they would do is 10 quests, based on the "skill every other level" trend they use. But also how this seems like it would be way too many.
Yep, thanks n' stuff..
Fair enough if you enjoy Griding, Id just prefer the content to be a challenge not just more of the same we do to level classes really, as well yeah we already do that..
I've never really got it myself, but then I guess a lot of people don't get why I enjoy the fact I could lose a lot of time/isk PvP'ing in EvE, and why its better then just hitting a res button..
As for the learning your class, you can do that in party's when your at cap better imo, but I wont take away from you that its how you prefer to learn, just doing so puts you above a lot.
You could easily have it so mob levels are -/+ the level of the players Class, and the level actually just unlocks the quest for that skill..
So a 50 will take on Lv48-52 mobs and a 30 Lv 28-32.
This again?
It applied to the overall in my mind (but then im not paying much attention atm so meh i'll agree re reading it properly), buy yeah def don't work without the other guys comments as well, i was in part most agreeing with you lol.
Just saying a way for the quest to be done regardless of class level.
It doesn't matter what level the quest is... it's still going to be easy. I think I've done most of the rank 36 class quests naked with just a weapon and didn't come anywhere near death. I do miss FFXI style difficult missions and quests that took a group of people to do... I don't think FFXIV will go in this direction, so I'd rather have more dynamic, interesting, animated cutscenes.
I don't care what level the mobs are... unless there is some stellar dragon NM to fight for each job.
Jobs are NOT Classes. Therefore you don't level them.
Jobs are a focus of your class. If you earn EXP on your Job, it's going to go towards your Class.
People need to stop looking at jobs as a separate entity from the class they are using it on.
That is much more the direction i would prefer it to go.
An if they are going to keep it easy, I want it to be entertaining...
Mad, chaotic and confusing with npc's fighting around you and you using your jobs new ability to help the situation.
Or something interesting and fun to do.
You guys are missing the point. Jobs are mere specializations within a class. Using a job will simply limit cross classing skills while providing job exclusive skills and gear to the user. IE
Gladiator - Uses all gladiator skills, all non restricted cross class skills, all gladiator gear.
Paladin - Uses all gladiator skills, very few cross class skills, all gladiator gear, all paladin gear, all paladin skills.
Explain to me: why would we have to level Paladin from level 1 all over again? How would that work in regards to Gladiator skills? Should we just forget them and re-learn em for our Paladin? Would we have to buy level 1 gear all over again to level nearly the same job, learn the same skills with a few new abilities along the way?
The answer is simple: NO. Within the proposed system, re-leveling a job makes no sense whatsoever. "Paladin" is not is an entirely new thing completely different from "Gladiator". Paladin is Gladiator with few extra skills. In the end, leveling a job again would be the EXACT same thing as leveling the base class AGAIN, learning an odd unique ability once in a while. Do you want to level a class, then reset it and level it again? Make a new character or go play Disgaea, lol =).
Guys it doesn't matter what anyone else says... we know how they are going to work they have already told us.
No point to argue or debate who wants it this way or that way. They have decided.
They know this and don't care, they just want something else to grind/level. I am happy with the way it is being done now. Less grinding and more focus on actual content. I would rather learn how to play my job in an actual boss fight than on open world monsters I am burning down super fast in a party - but that's just me...
I don't mind difficult quests that requires partying, but I played ffxi for many years from release and one thing I am absolutely against is requiring people's help for your personal (character level job/class progression) advancement in the game. If it pertains to gear, a title, or anything else that isn't a full necessity to doing one's job or role I'm fine with it. If it's a level cap, please make this challenging, but solo. Or at very least give us the option and just make the solo one take longer or something. I'm not for it.
I personally didn't struggle with ffxi's job caps as I had a really good crew of friends to help me through it, but I did end up helping a lot of people and witnessed a lot of people quitting thanks to the fact they could find no help at all with the cap quests.
