Yes, and I have heard that the PS3 have some problems with the HW maps. Just imagine it with much bigger maps.

I've seen more than a few complaints on this very forum that the HW zones are too big and empty already, why would you want bigger zones? The point though was that the PS3 did not hinder having larger zones, did it? Nor did it prevent flight. PS3 has held virtually nothing back from the game, and yet at the same time has allowed many more players to join the game. The presumption that everyone moved to PS4 already is false also. In Japan, Sony's home market, they've sold about 2 million PS4s, a fraction of the PS3 numbers. So you can bet that in SE's home market, PS3 will be well represented among players. Unless that changes or something literally can't be implemented on PS3, I don't think it's in SE's interests to drop PS3 support.
Well it is not holding PS4 back in a way... but holding back the game itself.
SE can do much more if it was just PC and PS4 then holding on and supporting PS3 as well
Maybe because we don't agree with those complaints? Personally I don't think HW's zones are very big, they are about standard for an MMO, from the ones I have played. They are certainly empty, but that is either due to PS3 constraints or developer problems. The idea of huge, densely populated zones is a good one, and one we should be asking for. For crying out loud, we still have zone transitions, instead of being able to move from one zone to another seamlessly (without a loading screen) like pretty much every other MMO out there.
And saying that the PS3 is holding nothing back is patently false. Even the devs have said that the current zones are already pushing what the PS3 can do, and they aren't that big. Why so empty? Maybe because the PS3 can't handle it all. The PS3 has limited the UI, it's barely changed, barely any of the sorely need features have been added, and devs have stated it's because the PS3 lacks the memory to do anything more. And then lets discuss the graphics. We still don't have proper hardware anti-aliasing. We get blurry low res textures, even though we know for a fact they have higher res assets. We get barely get real physics in the world or on character or mounts, low poly count models for characters and armor. Yeah we have flying, but it's literally running in the air: mounts don't dive, turn or bank realistically because this game doesn't use proper physics. That new reflection effect that came with HW? Barely used, and when it is you can tell it's pixelated and very low quality, and you don't get lighting effects reflected properly either, it's static. We still don't have volumetric fog or similar effects like proper rain and thunder, and whatever they use to create the skybox is low res too. It's especially apparent at night, the "milky way" effect looks like a painted on texture. The list just goes on and on.
Now certainly, some of what I mentioned above hasn't been done due to a mix of developer resources, design decisions and the like. But you cannot, with a straight face, tell me that the PS3 isn't the biggest factor in all of it. It limits practically everything a dev could do with this game.
The games features will always need to take the PS3 in mind along with the crappy server structure we seem to have as well. I don't get why people get so defensive. The PC should always come first I'm sorry but it's true. If someone can't afford or doesn't want a PC that's not really my problem, why should my game experience be hindered cause of a console?
The PC should have higher end options for things along with better qol features if said PC can handle it, why is that such a problem?
Because technology advances. I would love to be able to play every game ever made on my PS1 and never have to worry about buying another console but that sadly isn't the way the world works. It is obvious that the game will improve with dropping PS3. It may not improve by a lot but there will be an improvement nonetheless
I believe up to 4.0 is where the PS3 support should end personally. Will I be bothered if it doesnt? Nope.
So now you're saying that all consoles hold the game back? Give me a break. This is just the typical PC master race viewpoint. High-end PC's can cost vastly more than a console. The game runs perfectly fine on a PS4 (and, like SO many people here have mentioned, is playable on the PS3), so why would anyone bother shelling out more money to play this game on a PC?
I don't know the stats, but I'm guessing there's a pretty equal playerbase on console and PC. Heck, my FC is almost all console players, with just a few people playing on PC. Why should a huge population of the game be forgotten just because you think PC is so much better?
..........
Indeed, I agree. My apologies I thought you were attributing the various issues solely to the PS3. It's funny, I actually really would like to defend users of low/mid range PCs. My i7 laptop can run the game, but thanks to a weak mobile GPU I have to limit the effects I see. The way I see it, players on weaker PCs and PS3 face similar issues, and ultimately they should upgrade when they can. I'm sure you'd agree with defending both, because there are a great many good players using such systems.
I guess it doesn't matter to you that your opinion is objectively and technically wrong? See the thing is, you can argue using a contemporary gaming rig that even the PS4 is low powered compared to the PC master race uber game rig. However, that PC you might tout to support your argument is not the target platform of the game. A much more modestly spec'd PC is the target platform, and the PS4 is a match for that spec. I could get into all of the technicalities, but that would be a waste of everyone's time. Suffice it to say, you are very wrong.
Zone transition in a large open world without loading screens can, and has been done on PS3. Load screens between zones are something that will always plague games if that is now they are architected.
Source?
None of those things are restrictions due to the PS3. Optional texture packs for one platform or another have no impact on other platforms. Nor do platform specific graphics options such as anti-aliasing, otherwise DX11 would never have happened. None of these thongs are related to PS3.
Believe it or not, PS3 can handle physics, the SPEs on the Cell BE have single precision Floating point performance to make your eyes bleed, physics or the lack there of, is not a PS3 limitation.
visual effects on PC, Mac, and PS4 have nothing to do with PS3, so you're still barking up the wrong tree.
None of which in any way is related to the PS3 or the assumed limitations it presents.
Oh, I can and will tell you that. The PS3 is a different platform, the game engine on PS3 is different. although the core gameplay and mechanics are the same, and the UI is the same to maintain platform uniformity. Everything you mentioned starting with HD textures and touching on everything from physics, volumetric effects, anti-aliasing, etc is platform specific and not in any way affected by the PS3. As I said above, if PS3 was that much of a sticking point, the DX11 client would not be available.
Now, I'm perfectly happy to acknowledge the limitations that the PS3 does have - memory. The RSX is a very weak GPU by modern standards, on the flipside the CellBE SPEs are capable of everything from running simple code, through handling physics , sound and graphics. It was literally designed that way on purpose. But there is only so much you can do with 256MB of memory, which in turn presents limitations on the PS3 game client, and that is the one area where the PS3 can be said to limit things - such as the TP bar not having numbers.
None of this matters because a) objectively speaking the PS3 does not in any way prevent physics, particle effects or post processing from happening for PC, Mac and/or PS4; and b) Yoshi-P has already stated categorically that if there was something large that the team wanted/needed to implement that the PS3 could not handle, that would be when the future of PS3 support would be decided, as in it would cease.
You and numerous posters always attribute all these various sins to PS3, when in fact the majority of them have little to nothing to do with PS3 in the least. The simple fact that SE implemented the DX11 client for PCs demonstrates that the PS3 is not holding anything back. If you can have a DX11 client, you can sure as hell have HD textures - without caring what the PS3 (or for that matter PS4 and low end PCs) use. As it happens many of the improvements in the DX11 client are in the PS4 client implemented using it's equivalent APIs, so it's not exactly holding PCs back either.
This stupid platform bickering is pointless. The decision regarding PS3 support is a business decision. All the assumption and inaccurate hand waving of PC players with a chip on their shoulder about the PS3 are meaningless. Right now, PS3 is a legitimate asset to the game because it both holds open the door for players with less powerful PCs, and because there are sufficient PS3 users to hold SE's interest. Just 1 further tidbit. PS4 sold 36 million units to date (give or take a couple hundred thousand units) world wide. In Japan it's sold 2 million. In platform terms it's still minor compared to PS3. SE has the actual numbers, but based on that I have to consider that a sizeable proportion of Japanese players are on PS3, and until they show signs of moving, things won't change much. No business in their right mind would kick off a significant number of customers because of prejudice against a platform.
I think im getting too heated for no reason I apologize. I know 1.0 did a lot of things wrong but I just miss all the minor things like textures and movements. I just assume( I know never assume) the ps3 is partly responsible for this. But after seeing you mention Dx11 we can have features that other platforms dont. I guess its just a matter of if SE wants or can do them.
glitchy and unfinished game...? Did you even played that game - FF14 Online- on PS3 or just writting rubbish BS to get attention? <,<
Im playing this nice game since 2years on my PS3 There is nothing "Glitchy" or "unfinished".(I Really really DISlike to play that game on my PS4 since chars looks so ugly thin and flat on that = No fun of gaming).
I had no problems getting 99 coins on Diadem when it was brand new! I had never problems on HW when on Early access!
I hope PS3 service for that game goes on for 5-10years!
Please play the game on PS3 1st before making a feedback.
