I still don't know... I still hope for a surprise cause so far... These ''Warriors of Darkness'' are not impressive or interesting at all! No offence of course but having as ultimate enemy of Light the generic trailer characters is a bit boring...
I wouldn't mind if I was in fact the villain thus making the trailer characters fit more their role of true but misunderstood heroes. But from what I've seen though, I think they are only tempered heroes with no value behind their actions and Zodiark is only controlling them to do evil things.
Again, don't get me wrong... I'm still hoping for a surprise... A surprise I really need right now to say the least.

I am a little confused about this topic. Because the Derplander (Hildibrand) looks totally different than the person presented in FFXIV (Heavensward?) trailer.
How are these 2 related to eachother? I mean how can these 2 be the same?

They just used them in the trailers as generic "heroes". Remember there can be more than one WoL's it did in the past so it can be now. Also do not forget that Yoshi likes to play with our minds a bit. As for the shadows the old man saw around us. No we are not the WoD. It is something else. I can't wait for the patch to come out and put the questions to rest. It seems really hard for people to f accept that dreplander is a separate character and the WOD. I wonder why people so many refuse to see it? It's actually pretty creative to give a him his own story since to community is fond of him.

I think Derplander is WOD and not a evil doppleganger. I imagine WOD will be an important character and as such will have some lines with voice acting. They can't record lines for all kinds of race and gender just for one character, it is better to just set derplander and his gang as WOD. The WOD being a silent character won't work, it will be too boring. I think the voice at the end of the trailer that says "so, you are the warrior of light?" is WOD in fact.

I kinda think the WoL is kinda like the son/daughter of Hydaelyn, and not just some random adventurer that won the super power lottery. The WoL has no history beyond the day they showed up on a cart or boat to Eorzea, and more than once has Hydaelyn called the WoL beloved son/daughter. While it's possible this is just generic goddess talk to their mortal creations, those other echo gifted people don't seem to blow up gods as a hobby.
The WoD may just be the same thing but with a father named Zodiark. Also we've always just assumed the opening cutscene with derplander is about us, but maybe what we are seeing is what was happening on a parallel world. The reason he could be a stand in and a separate character at the same time, thus staying true to previous statements from Yoshi-P.
Evil gets thrown around too often as a short hand for people whose motivations and desires are in opposition to another group's own. I get the feeling the world the WoD and the Ascians are from is dying cause our world is pulling aether from their side, like if you pictured the relationship as an hour glass. This would explain the divide we see in the Ascian camp at times. One group wants to simply restore balance to make things as they were, the other wants to remove all chance of a repeat in the future by simply removing our world as a factor. -

The problem with 'divine birth' is that that'd make Hydaelyn about as promiscuous as Zeus. Before, and after, the Waking Sands the Scions harbored many people blessed in the Echo, Minfilia not the least among them. I have to agree with the 'super lottery' theory simply because we literally see the Echo being given out by an Ascian in the Leviathan story arc (as well as what happens when the Echo is used when near something that eats aether). What makes the Warrior of Light special isn't the Echo, that's just what 'opens the door'. What makes the Warrior of Light special is the Blessing of Light. It's what kept the Ascians at bay at the Waking Sands and Rising Stones. It's what allowed us to survive Ultima and break Thancred free of Lahabrea's control in the Praetorium. The Echo is just what lets us survive what would otherwise be fatal wounds (see Avere).
