I know right. It took me several months and dozen e-mails to get mine... and they made a mistake on it.
So, I had to send several more dozen e-mails and wait several month to get one without the mistakes.

Apparently the NA service doesn't flinch if you don't bother them to the point of harassment. Such wonderful customer service policies...

Lol what? The very first major cash shop exclusive is the Sleipnir mount which ALREADY existed in the game. So forgive us if we all assume cash shop exclusives are 'lost potential' because the very first one is precisely that. Seriously are you so blind that you can't see they are CUTTING CONTENT to go into the cash shop?

If you want to give SE extra money go ahead and buy shares, just don't drag us down into your unhealthy worship of a business by forcing the rest of us to swallow your cash shop crap.

Why is the euro price so much cheaper then the $ price?

There's nothing proving that it was meant to go in for an ingame reward.

The only reason people even knew about it was datamining.

The assumption of potential content does not equal a direct subtraction of content. There were two statements made during the Fanfest Stream, (which if you support that, but don't support the cashshop, you're a hypocrite), were, "This is for Fanfest only," (In regards to the Odin fight), and, "This is be in the game later on," (during another segment regarding the Odin fight). The lacking of a price for the mount has me skeptical if it'll be cash-shop only. To build on that, there is also the assumption that these minions/mount will not be in the game down the road. (Some people might want fancy items asap whenever they'll come down the road for others, who cares.)

Not anyone's problem you have trust issues. Unless the Pay2Win fear begins to become a reality, people need to calm down about cosmetic stuff from the past and maybe a couple new minions.

To end, some of the comments here telling other people not to spend money on the cash shop, but rather should be spending it on stocks, world hunger, etc; that's none of other peoples' businesses and violates the opinions of others on the forums.

For an item like Slepinir (and the other primal mounts), people will want it for two reasons; vanity or prestige. For some people, these mounts are a mark of either having insanely good luck or the guts to grind out primals until you get one. For others, it's just a case of the horses looking badass or matching their glamour. Even if Slepinir is available in-game as a rare drop from Odin, who (with enough free cash) is going to grind to get him? It won't be a status symbol, since everyone is going to assume you bought it. And if you just want a cool mount and you have five bucks lying around, why would you waste your time running Odin potentially hundreds of times? I wouldn't. So Slepinir might as well have been cash shop exclusive from the start (assuming it isn't), for all the difference it makes. This is why I don't think that having a cash shop item is justified if the in-game equivalent is extremely rare and difficult to obtain.

However, I'm not completely opposed to the cash shop. I think that the seasonal items have a place there, for those who weren't subbed during that time or forgot to do the quests. Assuming you are subbed and remember to participate, you are guaranteed to receive these items. If you missed out and desperately want them, then it's reasonable to be able to do so through the cash shop. The problem with the current implementation is that we were previously able to purchase the items from past events during the current seasonal event of that kind. With the advent of the cash shop, this option is no longer available (which is exactly why people are concerned that content is being cut out of the game to supply the cash shop). If it were simply an option for those who don't want to wait 6 months for the next opportunity to buy these items in game, then I would be very comfortable with the idea. There is no exclusivity on either side that would be a problem.

tl;dr - The current implementation of the cash shop is very worrying to me, but I don't think the cash shop is a bad thing in itself.

As pointed out multiple times before, event NPCs from that seasonal event sold gear from that previous event from the year before. For example had the cash shop not been planned, this year's vendor would have sold the 1.0 pumpkin heads along with the ghost costume, just like a year ago the event NPCs also sold the 1.0 pumpkin heads, just like the summer event NPCs from this year sold the 1.0 swimsuits, the 1.0 yukatas and the 2.0 swimsuits, etc. The Calamity Salvager does indeed also sell them once you've completed an event, so that's probably what you're confusing.

I think you're talking about the calamity salvager. You're correct that it sells to you only if you've done the events, but what the other person was talking about was the event vendor npc. Up until now, there were always vendors that were placed in the game during the event and taken out once the event ended, and they'd sell last year's event items for gil. That's how all the newer players were able to get access to the older yukatas and bikinis back during the summer event.

yes roris that is true but who wants to wait a year for those? they are unobtainable till that event comes back, and if you missed the event you can 1 wait till next year, and 2 now you have second choice you can buy them. that's what i meant by my post he was saying why buy something you can get in game which you cant if the player hasn't beat the quest or if you subbed late. so no harm in having it on the store.

The whole argument is that they're ONLY available in the cash shop now. Those NPCs were taken out. You can no longer get them unless you pay for them.

They said they wont be available ever again in game from the events? plz send quote from fan fest i didn't hear that part

Well you were calling them flat out wrong and saying their argument was invalid. As for people waiting I personally wouldn't mind waiting at all, I didn't participate in a lot of 1.0 seasonal events and was glad the wait was worth it because I got most of those items this time around in 2.0 with gil. Like I've also said before in this thread, if they did a limited time out of season sale after the events themselves had finished, I would have no issues with that, as long as those items where purchasable with gil again for the duration of said event.

Proof is with this current Halloween event. The event NPCs only sell this year's seasonal gear, you can no longer purchase past seasonal event gear from previous Halloween events, so no, they aren't available in game anymore as rewards from the events.

Go into the game and look. The past event items are not available. Those NPCs are not in game because they're in the cash shop. That's why there's a petition and so much fussing over this particular topic lol.

Basically, yes. I don't think they directly said they wouldn't, but it was heavily implied. As you can see, the event vendor isn't in game for the Halloween event. If this event is any indication, there's no reason to believe they'll be back for future seasonal events. The thing is, some people aren't going to buy from a cash shop on principle, and some might not have the means to buy from the cash shop, so they'll never see these items.

yea if they aren't available from seasonal events ever again which id like a quote for then i would totally understand why people wouldn't want them in the store, but i still see no harm in it i could care less. when they start selling end game gear that's when it will actually matter to me this little bit of items idk why any1 would seriously care about them. like honestly are you really goona use it u know dmn well they will sit in ur retainer inventory or in ur hotel room one.

Nope, the vendor isn't there. There's a miqo'te vendor in Ul'dah that sells the earrings and barding from this year's event for the fate cookies, but that's pretty much it. :/

I wonder if this cash shop will come with an overpriced monocle ?

More seriously, i'l wait and see but if you put the focus on it or the nicest item are in it i'm out. I didn't stop playing a mmo with a stupid cash shop policy to find myself with another.

Because they stated last year it was to allow people who didn't play 1.0 to get the items, it wasn't going to stay that way, this year it's a different set of quests and item rewards that's actually exclusive to ARR. That's why this past summer event they let you get the 1.0 yukatas and the last summer event all of the swimsuits, which were from 1.0.

You know, it really makes me wonder what makes you doubt. The reason it wasn't stated and doesn't have a source is because it's common sense for them to make everything in the shop exclusive to the shop or else the shop won't have any purpose for them (to milk money lol). That, and from a marketing point of view they rather say "oh btw here's our cash shop feel free to buy" instead of "here's our cash shop of exclusive items you won't be able to buy in game ever!"... Trust me that if it was obtainable in game, seeing all this rage, it'd be stated long time ago.

And also, what cash shop in any game had the same vanity displayed in the cash shop also sold by in game currency? I don't remember such.

Wondering if the cash shop items will be obtainable in game is just wishful thinking.

That vendor is exclusive to each player, and sells different things to different people. If a player did the relic quest - he will sell the relic in the shop. It basically just act as lost and found NPC. it only sells "key items" you ever owned. In the picture it shows the cash shop items because you already obtained them through the event so you have the "right" to get them if you lose it by using this vendor. (I guess he will be able to also retrieve anyof the other items purchased from the cash shop, but that's just a guess).

Why do so many people not realise that the items only appear at the Calamity Salvager IF YOU ALREADY BOUGHT THEM ON THAT SPECIFIC CHARACTER.

If you did the event but only bought one item at that time, only that single item will be available to you. If you did the event on a different character, sucks for you, can't access them on your other character.

So no, no they are not available unless you already own them. So useful.

IIRC, the minions are 5 USD and 3.5 EUR.
3.5 EUR is around 4.4 USD. That's not too far off...

If it makes you feel better - NA accounts pay cheaper subscriptions than EU accounts. IIRC We pay the same number as NA, but in EURO. Apparently SE didn't hear of money conversion and value... (Or it's just more profitable to play dumb lol)

I swear I see someone bringing up the Calamity Savager at every page... they must be trolls at this point.

The Fantasia needs to be cheaper. It made sense that they went account wide for the original setup of them, but with them being near the same price and only for 1 character.... Make them like $2-$3 per fantasia. There is no need for them to be starting at ~ $8

"SE IS RIPPING CONTENT OUT OF THE GAME!"

When they stated from the get go, even back during beta, that they're only bring the items back the first event rotation to allow non-1.0 players to gain the items, as it was the most requested back before the servers went offline. If they truly were taking items out of the game, it wouldn't even be on calamity salvager - so trolling? No, having your argument squashed doesn't make them a troll.

It is cheaper - Most Race/Gender (actually can be separate at times!) change options in other MMOs, including F2P ones, can be $20+...each.
