It's easier just to report every little tiny rule infraction like *some people* have been doing to me.

If you didn't live or grew up in Asia, you probably wouldn't understand. Most people cannot afford to have their own system, that's why internet cafes are so popular, they are an after ditching school activity for most kids high school and below. A $10-20 monthly subscription can probably feed your family for a week or even a month. They sell game cards which gives you a certain number of hours of play or they simply play by how many minutes or hours they can afford to pay the internet cafe attendant. It's the internet cafes buying the games mostly and sometimes pirating it. So yeah, with a tightening economy, those internet cafes are making less due to kids having to show up less, therefore subscription based games suffer. There are exceptions such as people who hold professional jobs of course.
In the US, most people can easily build Tri-SLI GTX 580s with 1500 watt power supplies on 3 46" monitors and easily pay that monthly subscription off, because that's like a few hours of work at McDonalds or daily lunch money allowance. Even homeless people have internet and cellphones.
This thread is more boring, lame, repetitive, and just plain terrible than any dungeon can ever be. Stop starting these stupid threads.
Lol, do you know Korea has like the best Internet Infrastructure in the whole world? Korea is a developed country, not your average Third World country. They didn't buy like half of original Star Craft (4.5 million out of total 9.5 million) just for show you know. I think you're confused North Korea with South Korea.
I don't care for the fighting here, but I'd like to be interested in the topic.
I'm very certain that the dungeons currently are just a warm up from SE. I know they got something up their sleeves on their way to wow us players, patience. However, just keep in mind not everyone is hard core in LS sweeping the finest gear out there as if it's end game. Again, take no offense I know where you're coming from but fear not!
Yeah, they are the most MMO addicted country in the world. Developed or not, the average person in Asia do not compare to America. Just because this so so company acts like a big shot, doesn't mean every person in Korea is rollin in dough, because if they did, we wouldn't see so many Free to Play MMOs.
um... no, im not tired of the Dungeons yet :D
Yes i'm bored of the dungeons. Let hope 1.9 has more to offer.
I've done the dungeons several times. I am still enjoying it and I have been doing them practically everyday since release. =) My linkshell has defeated Batraal several times, but there is still lots to do. Still gear to collect, still other members to assist, still wanting to perfect tactics, etc. Even for people that have everything, how about working on defeating the entire dungeon including Batraal? How about leveling up more classes? There is still tons of things to do with the dungeons as a whole, both Toto-rak and the Darkhold. They are excellent tools for players to use. And it should also be mentioned that these are only the first dungeons. They aren't bad and they do involve some skill or thought behind what you are doing, not just mind-numbing leves. Not to mention it's just a great bonding experience for parties and linkshells as a whole. I think all this bashing is unnecessary, and that things are looking up for FFXIV even with the issues at hand.
I've gone to the R45 dungeon a grand total of 3 times 2 times on a R47 lancer and once on R50 archer, all within the first 2 day of its release. I havent gone back because I dont like the content. My 20 man LS has it on farm I believe but even with that I dont bother going in with them. I have spent most of my in game time focusing on crafting since the patch. Made my LS mate a Vintage Robe +1 yesterday(yay Rob!)
No one said stfu and wait for the next patch. I did however point out your opinion of the dungeon design was baseless given the fact that you haven't played it. I think I 've proved my point and will let the people decide. Oh, btw - you haven't seen the food cus you haven't stepped foot in the resteruant. I win!:eek:
If the food is tainted with Salmonella, you can come eat it, find it good for a little bit, then get really sick later. That is how the reaction of I'd like to say 450k people that quit, maybe more.
Let me paint a picture for you: Hey! 1.18 is here! Nice! Awesome! OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG DUNGEONS! DUNGEONS! DUNGEONS! All right lets do this thing! Why? Why are we running? Can you guys please stop and kill these things? No! STFU and just run straight to the boss.
Then later in the day, "Hey guys, we've been doing this over a dozen times already wanna grind? No! We need to farm this over and over and over again. Anyone in linkshell wanna do leves? Anyone? Anyone? *crickets* *crickets* I guess I'll just craft alone. Anyone wanna kill some NMs? No? /sigh. I guess, I'll just do dungeon until I can't feel anymore. *Takes off clothes, puts them in the trashcan, burns them, then jumps in the shower, and cries out loud like a rape victim*
Seriously... if anyone considers this dungeons to be good or hard, you must be pretty new to the gender or you never played another MMOs endgame. Please take a look around and see where are we coming from FFXI, WoW, Aion, etc. This is not SE first MMO's, this is not the first time they have made a dungeon/instances, and FFXI has a lot of them.
I played FFXI for 5 years, from release to Aht Urhgan. Did everything there was to be done, had 7 75's in the time i stopped playing. Played WoW for 6 years, from Vanilla to Frozen Throne. Beat every instance/raid there was to beat. So unless you have a similar resume or better, you are not going to tell what a good instance design is, or if its hard or not.
I am sorry, but the MMO industry has come a long ways to accept this as a quality delivery. I am sorry, I cant personally accept this, cause its not. Its a good addition to the non-existing content, don't take me wrong, I appreciate the effort from SE, but i could have waited a month or two until they had settle into the new Auto-attack system and its adjustments so they would delivered a better designed first dungeon.
I don't think they ever intended this to be a long term endgame content event. Its filler and a taste for whats to come. We can expect to see heavily strategy oriented content, inventive ways to clear the same path, a move towards multiple ways to grind a job. With a main job of 48 pug I find it difficult to believe you have even cleared the dungeon? Did you even participate in the betraal fight? This is no walk in the park and a definite shift to the old school style of MMO boss fights.
My first betraal clear was last night our setup was:
glad
arc
arc
pgl
thm
thm
con
(yes we had a DC before fight)
Was the fight easy? HELL NO, was it fun and did it challenge me 10x more then any fight in FFXIV to date? YES!
I personally think any setup with some luck and coordination can clear no job should be excluded there is always a job to do even if its camping the atk down circle.
You did it with 1 Con? wow Congrats man! This goes to show you, you don't NEED 2-3 CON's to win this fight.. Yes it Maybe hard.. but in the end Its a challenging fight and you get all the excitement especially when the Boss is almost dead, you get that.. CMON DIEEEEEEE Feeling, I did that when I got Orge to 20% :D
Did Toto Rak once, it was fun, and I'm thinking of doing it again when I have the time to find a party. I really want 45 on my PUG, and i'm sure that my LS will take me on a run. I'm just curious tho, has anyone tried to incap the bosses? Because, if you only take ARC and they don't even use Shrieker/Barrage/Foeseeker, how can you tell if other melee are useful or not?
Hell Yes Im tired of them! Not just tired because I have done them so many times. Its more the hoops I have to jump through tanking them. People say enmity is fine. I say it works, and you need the right skills and strategy to be successful. So I have adopted to the system, but that doesnt make it right or fine. So yes the new enmity system works, but to me its not only boring, but SE failed to get Fun to Meet challenge with things like skill and timing. Instead the challenge has become to tell your healers to not heal and your DPS not to deal damage. As for me the tank, my challeneg was learning which enmity skills worked and which were useless, once I weeded through them and threw out the ones that were virtually pointless and added the ones that worked, there was no skill or timing really. Its too damn easy, and shows total class and ability imballance, and sucks all the fun out of the game for DPS and Healers. To me they should have went with more reactionary abilities as opposed to just boringly building up hate. And while I am not advocating DPS and Healers being able to go nuts, there should be more wiggle room. Like a skilled Tank should be able to rip hate back from a DPS that gets a little trigger happy, and a skilled healer should be able to help a tank that slips. This would foster teamwork and make battles a little bit more chaotic and adventurous. This is just my opinion and people are free to agree or disagree, but the enmity system is complicated in figuring out the dos and donts, boring in its skilless process, unballanced and unreasonable in enmity vs abilities vs class, and frustrating that some classes cant do what they are supposed to do (poor healers and DPS).
Typical Enmity 101 field lab.
Tone it down while I get hate, whoa wait a sec PUG that autoattack is too powerful use your sissy slap ability instead! CON dont bitch at me because you died, you shouldnt have thought about casting that Cure 1 spell, the NM is psychic and it new you were thinking about using cure. Guess youll think twice about curing next time....... wait scratch that, thinking about it twice would just mean youll end up getting double weakness.
Maybe I should use my 2 sure fire tanking skills over and over like a mindless zombie and learn to love it? Or maybe we could create an accomplice enmity chain....... which effectively limits my role as tank? Or maybe I should switch to CON and just cure bomb tank and laugh at the GLA as he fruitlessly tries to get hate back. Thats it!!! Ill become a plate armor wearing CON and spam cures for hate!!! In your face GLA!
The people who complain about the raid without trying it are hilarious. I've been doing the raid with random people and my LS since the patch was released and I've had a lot of fun. When we started we wiped like 6 times per run, now we kill Batraal quite easily, but we have yet to get all the chests at once. I've met like 20 different people (including JP players) from raiding and during the first week everyone was trying to figure out how to get better at killing the bosses.
I've never had this much fun on FFXIV and I'm actually happy to play. My LS friends and I have almost all the gear we need but we still love raiding, and that's from someone who has spent up to 8hrs a day inside the Darkhold.
Sure the Ogre is easy as hell for us now, and Batraal will be the same soon enough, but that's just because we've been playing a lot. I'm sure there's a shitload of people who still haven't beaten the Ogre, and that's fine. But don't say it's easy when you haven't even stepped inside the raid. In fact I'm willing to bet that all those people who say it's easy without even trying would get owned within 2 minutes when they first fight the Ogre.
Also, you don't need 4 ARCs to do the raid... everytime we won as a LS we had 2 LNCs with us, and they rock because they need less support from the mages to kill Skeletons on Batraal. Oh yeah, and they make the Ogre waste TP on Elbow Drop. Learn to play your class or play with people who have a clue before you bash the devs...
once i got the gear drops i wanted i started doing grind parties and the dungeons dont really interest me anymore unless im helping ls members get some gear then ill do a run or two
Just a quick thing SE added to tie us over for a bit. I wonder what the next content will be that SE releases. Maybe some time far far in the future there will be some endgame content? Because after 50.. well, then what?
The ifrit battle, (chocobo escort, beastman stronghold battles, hamlet defense).
If you want them to focus on content, you're playing the wrong game.
If we didn't live off the assumptions that the developers of this game aren't total idiots we wouldn't even be here.
If we constanstly are hounding producers and designers of this game for new content they will be forced to mass produce patches, like they do for smokers. I'm just saying the longer the wait between patches the more content. Is it there fault that players hit a dungeon 7-8+ hrs a day straight, a few day in a row? I just finally did the R25 dungeon took my time read and enjoyed the graphics. I enjoy it as a first time reveal. Anything gets played out with repetition. I personally like seeing a few players here and there with all this top end gear. I feel it creates a sense of want for us players not yet at fifty or that have wondered a bit about this game. The patch has installed some kind of hope. I'm ready to play again. A nice consistent pace I think will allow SE and the player to enjoy a game. This is a flawed game it will come around, let them develop things - or implement what they have in store. I will eventually be bored of the update - just hoping it isnt too soon b4 the next up date. A healthy pace is essential at this stage.
I'm still enjoying the Dungeons. I go in as LNC and do a pretty damn good job not dying. I even make it so mages can recover mp during the Ogre's enraged period. If you play your class well and know the battles there's no reason for any group to not take you.
If they still won't let you prove it... find another shell that will. I'm lucky to be in the one I'm in.
for there ranges. the dungeons offer some of the best s opportunity in the game. I think the only way i would find them total useless is if i had all of the gear drops and everything at 50.
