Nice Roleplay thought there, but the reason why
it's empty is because no one can afford it people who are trying to save up can't because you're taking them all.
It's really rude, especially since the prices are insane right now, and there isn't enough wards.
This is why we're saying ONE HOUSE PER ACCOUNT.

I want to know how many of you have FC house... Don't take it the wrong way, but since my FC has a house, and I have a private room, I don't really see why I should have an own house.

So, are you mad about this price because you don't have any house at all, or do you all want to have both FC house and an own house? Again, just wondering...

Personally, I hang out at my FC's house because that where my friends go when not doing something special, and hanging out at my own house would just take away that purpose all together... I don't enjoy fixing with the house, so that's probably why I don't mind this, but are everyone here enjoying the housing system in FFXIV this much, or are many of you just mad, because you want it to be right?

If the housing was like Wildstar for example(don't like the game otherwise), I would be all over it to be honest... because in Wildstar you have a big land to put out useful things for for crafting and whatnot... IMO FFXIV's housing system is pretty boring, and that's why I'm a little surprised people are reacting like this...

LOTRO doesn't even have the shortage issue we have here (as its servers are capable of handling a thousand or more wards), but it has the "one house per account on a server" rule. When you buy a house with any of your characters, all your characters on that server get that as their house, with full ownership rights from any of them. (Many of those rights, like visiting, decorating, and even access to your storage chest, you can also share with anyone else you want. Some ownership privileges, like a free port to your house and discounts at housing area merchants, are for the house owner only, but as mentioned, "house owner" means all of the characters on that account.)

SE should really have adopted the same rule, especially since availability is so much more limited here. If availability were unlimited, then I'd actually like the fact that we can have a house for each character. I'd get a Gridanian house for Y'kayah, an Ul'dahn house for Navarre, and a Limsan house for Dylise, so they can each live in the city whose Grand Company they support. But not when the number of houses is so limited. As it is, that's a pretty foolish pattern. (Ah well, at least if SE ever gets serious about fixing the availability problem, then the house-per-character rule might eventually work. It's only a problem because it's exacerbating something that's already a problem anyway.)

I want to share a house with a friend of mine so that we have gardens and stables to ourselves, both of us are leaders of our respective free companies and realise that the fc garden is for fc purposes, its use is determined by discussion etc... hell i'd be leaving the garden related stuff to said person that i want to share with for the most part.

Honestly no reason why shared housing couldn't be implemented, half the support are already in place by the fact that FC's get a house to share.

It'll be an even bigger issue once characters can marry each other, but I hope it won't be limited to married characters as being the only ones who can share a house. We should simply have a set of house privileges and the ability for a home owner to assign any of those privileges to any other character they wish. (And it shouldn't be limited to online characters only, like the Friend list is. We should be able to share a house either with a friend or with our own alts, or both, as we choose.)

Someone coming to th forums to brag they've bought more than one house to block others out is just one of the reasons this game is losing any respect I once had for it, should never of been allowed in first place , let alone to continue

On pheonix their was a person on PF offering to sell the rights to buy 10 plots , they would relinquish and let the person buy it again for a price.

Good luck ever trying to prove that. He/She/It may be purchasing up a significant portion of the land, but it's not against TOS nor is it harming your experience. Square-Enix is at fault for failing to provide adequate space for everyone.

Putting other players at a sense of unease is harming the experience and thus against the TOS

and since he posted it to the forum and is now quoted permanently, it is readily proven.

I'll admit that I am new to FF and new to MMO. But I don't think I am so new to FFXIV now that I've just gotten the minion of light reward for subscription.

Yet it seems that on a legacy server like excalibur, that tends to have the most experienced trolls. Likely they probably even know how to buy RMT gil without getting banned, and then they turn around and cause havok for everyone else.

So I don't think there is anything wrong with being new. And when I get to housing, if and when, just as long as they are there in time, it will be fine. Not everything needs to be now.

That is a stretch. Might as well say that players wearing bikinis are making someone feel unease, report them too. Let the guy waste his money if he likes, he won't be able to buy everything once 2.4 hits. If SE wanted to keep something like that from happening they easily could have put in a safeguard.

There is nothing wrong with being new your 100% right my point was back in the day there was no rooms homes ect and you had to keep your look no glamour prism nothing so for ppl that have wanted stuff like this it can be a big deal as they have been waiting you see?

the only unease i get with bikini's is the difficulty in obtaining the mats for them -_-

At least that would be a valid reason were space not so limited. If I didn't have to worry about how many other houses are available for players and FCs, I'd buy (well, save up towards eventually being able to buy) a house for each of my characters. I'd like them to each have a house in their home city. As it is, though, I wouldn't take more than one personal house and one to share with my FC (once I can afford both and qualify for the latter).

I tried to join the XHFL! because everyone gets a free house! but it is really hard to get accepted in the free company because Xenora makes you take an IQ test and interrogates you about Apkallu's! Its pretty difficult.

Also, people stop complaining about the whole housing experience. you will get one in due time. I would rather have more dungeons, more content, more armor and things to do rather than just cry about a house. you don't have gil, I'm sorry. Just save up and stop whining. FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE!

Apkallu is an irregular plural e.g. "I see an Apkallu", "Look at all the Apkallu".
You keep making it into a regular plural by saying "Apkallu's" which is not only incorrect in plurality but it also shows a lack of respect for the language altogether as it establishes some ownership of the Apkallu.

If you want to join my FC you must at least show some respect for the Apkallu...

Philosophical question for people angry about Apkallu-lover having a billion houses: if they are "selfish" for having so many houses, is that such a big deal? Aren't houses in and of themselves a selfish "activity"?

The root problem here is lack of available plots in the first place. If someone has the capability to make enough gil to buy that many houses and wants to spend it in that way, there's no reason they shouldn't be able to.

Background: I own a personal small, a FC medium, and am in the process of saving up for either a 2nd FC medium/large and/or 3+ smalls. So sure I'm biased. Who isn't?

Houses should be FC only, and should never be meant for solo indivduals. House should not be "selfish activity." Personal houses for individuals will be like minions. They will be decorated and forgotten. Given the amount of work and resources SE put in, it absolutely does NOT make sense that houses end up like mausoleums, and after while lost to sands like the pyramids of the pharoahs.

The same can be said for a FC house...What's the point in it really? It's just fun for meet ups
and people to garden and just be silly. It's not a MUST-HAVE but it's just something neat...
How come people don't understand this is suppose to be fluff content?
Fluff content is when it's something that's no raiding or dungeons are grinding...basically a mini-game to give you more options in your game and down-time.
Lot's of games do it, even non-mmo's. [Not housing per say, but like mini-games.]
The more content the better! Granted said any content isn't horribly implemented such at this joke.
If houses were to be for only FC's then that is an absolute HORRIBLE idea. It was already a bad idea to make FC housing before Personal.
They claim it to test the stress on servers or some crap I can't remember...9 months post FC housing we're still reading the same sob story.


Housing is not meant to be a friggin' grind or for only a % amount of people to own it.

I could easily say that our neighbors (a 4man FC with a small house, who have not logged on in weeks) are selfish for taking up a plot that, say, a 100man FC could have gotten and loved using.

Saying that housing isn't selfish content is foolhardy. It entirely is. And that is the point.

Who are you to say that people buying their own houses are selfish? It's a discount teleport among many other small QoL services. Over the course of the hundreds of times you are gonna use it, that's gil saved until eventually you "made up" the cost of the house.

That is selfish. And if they don't use that house for 35 days, they will lose it so someone else can get it. SE already has things in place to counter some this selfishness. FC should not be individual FCs. And that is why there is a barrier to getting to rank 6 to get a house and a real FC gets to it much faster.

It is not a must have. However a FC house lets a group of people share in working together and coordinate and have group objectives. That is hardly the definition of selfish.

Rather than personal housing, I'd have preferred if they'd implemented variety in the personal rooms:
The personal rooms cost 300k for a regular room with 50 item allowances, and that's it... very basic. Then there is the tier 2 option, pricing could be exponential like they did with the FC housing, but this room is bigger and allows you to have 75 item allowances and a small window garden for personal gardening, having 3 plots for planting so you could potentially get crossbreeds if you so wanted. Then they could do a third tier, same style of pricing, so we're talking in the range of 5mil more than likely for a tier 3 room, but it could have had a second floor, 100 allowances, and maybe a balcony area that would allow you to have a full size garden. Since you can only own one FC room per person, it would solve the problem of people buying out all the plots, and if you didn't have the gil to get a big room at first, you could buy a small and upgrade to a mid/large size room in time.

Continuation of the above:
As there really is no reason for one person to have a personal chocobo stable, but being able to plant your own garden when, even with a large fc house, gardening space is limited and usually only officers in an FC would be given the authority to use them, means that more people get the opportunity to experience that aspect of the game and also reap the rewards.

I was very interested in personal housing, when I believed it was going to be a separate instance. I'm not anymore, maybe I'll wait and see how they implement marriage into it and see if they work out the kinks, but as it is. . . it's just awful.

I just want a room I can share with someone :(

I support the idea that has been proposed here and in other threads for having instanced "apartments" as the main form of player personal housing.

The only caveat I have is that it be completely detached from FC's so that anyone can get one. I am in a large FC that has a mansion and I have a fully decked out room there but I would like something separate from all that.

As has been suggested, I feel they should be available through GC's where once you hit a certain rank you unlock a short quest to apply for a permit that unlocks being able to purchase an apartment in the city of that GC.

Having these as instances would ease up on the technical/hardware limitations and would make it so that there are not a set number of apartments available which could make it possible to potentially have an apartment in each city as long as you meet the requirements and do the quest for the GC's.

That something I did suggest earlier being Personal Apartments. Not as grand as Personal Housing but doesn't require a lot like Personal Housing.

It starts out as a Inn Room size with a small Balcony for outdoor housing content that support a small Pot Garden (Pot Gardens can only hold 2 seeds).

Then there is the expansion upgrades for the Personal Apartment being that there is a expansion for Room expansion with 1st expansion being a larger room, 2nd expansion adding a small 2nd room, and Final expansion increasing the size of the 2nd room.

The Balcony expansion starts out as 1st expansion increase the Balcony size to support Chocobo Stable and adds more room for more Outdoor Housing stuff, 2nd Expansion increase balcony size again, 3rd expansion increase balcony size to small house yard size.

Of course expansions will cost gil since you're asking for upgrading a Apartment room inside a building owned by the Adventure Guild. Apartment Rooms should be obtained by buying one at one of the City States and depending on where you have your Apartment determine the texture and balcony view of the Apartment.
